AUGUST 20 UPDATE – CHARICE ON GRAMMY.COM HOME PAGE .
The Recording Academy Los Angeles Chapter’s first-ever Grammy Block Party was a smash hit, raising more than $30,000 to help those in the music community who are victims of the Nashville floods. All proceeds from the event benefited the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund, which was established by The Academy and its affiliated MusiCares Foundation in response to the devastating and life-altering effects of the recent floods that unexpectedly hit Nashville and its surrounding areas this spring.
The GRAMMY Block Party featured performances by singer/songwriter akaCassidy, YouTube sensation Charice, Latin/folk group La Santa Cecilia, GRAMMY-winning artist Raphael Saadiq, and Nashville recording artist Chuck Wicks, with musical direction provided by Rickey Minor, who was recently named music director for “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.”

More than 900 concert-goers showed up for last week’s event to catch performances by akaCassidy, Charice, Raphael Saadiq, La Santa Cecilia and Chuck Wicks.

David Foster Comes Back to Japan After 16 Years as Part of his Asian Concert Tour
David Foster, hitmaker during the golden age of the adult-oriented rock genre from the 80s to the early 90s will come back to Japan for concerts on October 19 and 20 at Hall A of the Tokyo International Forum. The last time he was in Japan to perform was 16 years ago at the “JT Super Producers 94″ concert at the Budokan in 1994.

Rolling Stone is a U.S.-based magazine devoted to music, politics, and popular culture that is published every two weeks.
