Charice, the Oprah-approved, Glee-renowned singer with the teeny-tiny stature and the big big voice, takes a sassier tack on “Louder,” the second single from her upcoming sophomore album Infinity.

Watch below as the Philippines-born 19-year-old explores her dancey-diva side in the clip, choreographed by Gil Duldulao, the man behind the moves in Jennifer Lopez’s “Waiting for Tonight,” Janet Jackson’s “Together Again,” and “Christina Aguilera’s “Drrrty” and “Genie in a Bottle,” among others.

What do you think, readers — do you prefer Charice in saucy mode, or do you still think of her as the be-ribboned moppet who made sweet music with Celine Dion?

The official “Louder” music video has yet to be uploaded to Charice’s YouTube channel. Hopefully, her camp does this soon so that views resulting from the fans’ initial excitement/hysteria will be counted! The lyric video of “Louder” that was released five months ago have exactly 2,678,535 views as of this moment. For the official music video to be deemed successful, its views should definitely surpass 2.67 million, right? So Chasters, be ready to view and replay as soon as the video is up on youtube.com/charice.

Many websites have already published articles about the “Louder” music video featuring the low quality copies on Youtube. Most of the reactions were very positive especially when it comes to Charice’s dancing talent. If the pairing of her amazing voice and dance skills could be further developed, Charice will definitely be stronger in the pop music field. Below are some reviews from different sites:

Charice Continues Promotion of “Infinity” – To Release New “One Day” MV Japan Version

Charice Continues Promotion of “Infinity” – To Release New “One Day” MV Japan Version

Charice’s second album, “Infinity”, is doing great in Japan. Just less than a day after its release, Infinity is now number one in the iTunes Pop Album chart and number four on the overall album chart. The album launch concert might have really helped, right?

In Japan’s main music chart, Oricon, Infinity is a new entry at no. 10. Hopefully, sales will continue to rise and earn Charice another gold award, just like with her debut album.

Oricon Chart
  • Album sales could rise more in the following days as Charice continues her promotional activities in Japan. Tomorrow, October 7, she will be doing an interview in the iconic Tokyo Tower (see this post for more details).
  • On the 8th, Charice is a guest on the radio show Cosmo Pops Best 10. Tune in at 3:00 p.m. to catch her live. This show is also broadcasted live from the Tokyo FM Midtown Studio in Roppongi, so it’s highly possible that you could catch a glimpse of Charice there.
  • From Oct. 11-13, Charice will be on JWAVE’s I A.M. radio show (see this post for more details).
  • On the 15th and the 22nd, “Music Fair” on Fuji TV will air two different episodes where Charice is a guest at 6:00 p.m. She has already filmed these episodes last October 4, so this guesting is not live. But being featured on this show for two consecutive weekly episodes is such a big deal.
  • On Oct. 19 and 20, Charice will be performing live with David Foster and Friends at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A. Even though she might just sing one song from her album during this concert, DFF is still a great venue for Charice to promote herself.
We have no exact date yet for the release of the Japan version of the “One Day” music video, but most likely it will be this October. The schedule released by Warner Music Japan and Acuvue for the dance contest winners reveals that the shoot for the MV will be sometime on October 6-8, 2011. So it’s possible for the video to be released within a week or two.

Charice’s tie-in with Acuvue is really a great way to give more exposure to her new album, as it allows her to do events like the album launch concert in Shinjuku, an amateur dance contest/audition, and the new “One Day” music video. The Making of Charice’s “Louder” MV – Update: Final Video Undergoing Some Finishing Touches

The Making of Charice’s “Louder” MV – Update: Final Video Undergoing Some Finishing Touches

It’s been almost a month since Charice wrapped up the shoot for her “Louder” music video, and the fans are eagerly awaiting its release. Her camp has been really mum about the exact date for the video premiere, and the only date we have now is sourced from a newspaper article in Doha.

According to The Peninsula, Come October 5, Charice’s album ‘Infinity’ will be released first in Japan, while the much anticipated music video of her dance hit ‘Louder’ will be released in two weeks time.”

The first part is true and that has happened already, but the second part about the music video is still not confirmed. So we shouldn’t get our hopes up yet since October 2011 is kind of an early date for a music video release that’s part of a 2012 album.

For now, let’s just revisit the days when Charice was preparing and shooting her “Louder” music video. Below are photos and tweets that we’ve compiled and arranged to bring you some sort of an “MTV Making the Video” feature, so you can get more of a feel on what Charice experienced during the whole process.

Charice Sings Final Fantasy Theme Song “New World” Live for the 1st Time in Tokyo

Charice Sings Final Fantasy Theme Song “New World” Live for the 1st Time in Tokyo

Charice’s album launch yesterday in Tokyo was an event of many firsts for her. It was the first ever concert where every song she sang was from the album, “Infinity”. It was also the first time she performed with the Acuvue Dance Contest winners. And of course, it was at that event where the public first heard Charice singing “New World” live:

It’s been three weeks since the announcement that Charice will be singing the Final Fantasy XIII-2 theme song has been made. There was a lot of buzz from the gaming and music communities about this collaboration between an amazing singer and a legendary game franchise.

Charice follows in the footsteps of Leona Lewis who also lent her voice and song, “My Hands” for Final Fantasy XIII. Both of these artists also released the Final Fantasy theme song as part of their own albums. “New World” by Charice is the second track on her newly-released “Infinity” Japan album.

Watch the Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer below, which features Charice’s “New World” in the background:

The J-pop/RnB market is really hard to conquer as Japan has a very strong local music scene that’s bursting with talented artists. But Charice has made great progress in capturing the Japanese market. She’s making even more headway by teaming up with Japanese songwriters and producers, and for “New World”, it’s Koichi Tabo of famous J-pop group Superfly.

For Chaster gamers out there, the Final Fantasy XIII-2 game will be released on December 12, 2011, and Charice’s song will be included in all the U.S./Canada, Europe copies of the game, and in the Xbox 360 copies for Japan and Asia. For those in Japan and Asia who owns a Playstation 3, your game copy will include the Japanese song version by Mai Fukui.

Watch Charice and Mai Fukui’s interview below:

But if it’s just the song that you want, “New World” has already been released as a single and ringtone in Japan since late September. You can also listen to “New World” on “Inifinity” album, which you can purchase here.

Charice to Sing at NFL Game’s 9/11 Tribute in Florida

9/11 VIDEO UPDATES AND REVIEWS…

It’s been a decade since the World Trade Center terrorist attacks happened, and even though the feelings of loss and fear still lingers over Ground Zero, it doesn’t mean we’ll just try to forget it. No matter how you look at it, 9/11 is a historic event that should be remembered for the way that it changed lives.

And this year, the NFL opening season games will include multiple tributes to honor the anniversary of the fall of the Twin Towers. Charice will headline events in Florida during the NFL match between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. She is slated to sing the “Star Spangled Banner” at opening and “God Bless America” during the halftime show.

Watch below, with great reviews of her performance…

.

clevver TV Charice to Sing at NFL Games 9/11 Tribute in Florida Charice performed in front of a packed group to usher in the start of the NFL season on the 10-year anniversary of 9-11. This performance clearly meant a lot to the singer, who even tweeted about her feelings prior to singing for the NFL opener. She said: “Big Day. I need prayers.” Those prayers must have helped because Charice’s voice was flawless as she took on the ‘Star Spangled Banner’, with service members standing by as two jets flew overhead. It was a beautiful way to pay tribute to those who lost their lives ten years ago, as well as to honor the US military… incredible performance. >> Story Here

Charice Fully Emerges From David Foster’s Guidance

Charice Fully Emerges From David Foster’s Guidance

Having a mentor is one of the best things (aside from having a fairy godmother, of course) that could ever happen to an artist that’s just starting out. Charice was very lucky that David Foster agreed on taking her under his wing after Oprah contacted him. And now, Charice is all grown-up and ready to fly out of the nest.

261971 224452417573995 100000277160024 902441 6720311 n1 300x208 Charice Fully Emerges From David Fosters Guidance

David Foster with a young Charice

Shocking at first, the news that said Charice will no longer be under David Foster’s guidance actually makes sense when you think about it.

It’s been more than three years since Charice made her debut on the international stage at the 2008 David Foster and Friends concert in Las Vegas, and its time for her to fully shine on her own.

In a phone interview with Inquirer Philippines, David Foster revealed that this year’s David Foster and Friends concert series in the United States and Asia, will be the last ones where Charice will be a guest. He said that Charice is aiming to win over a younger crowd, which is not his forte. So it’s indeed a wise decision for her to work with different producers that know music for the modern youth.

David+Foster+Charice+Pempengco+Andre+Agassi+TJZvYPK20f6l Charice Fully Emerges From David Fosters GuidanceDavid Foster did great in shaping the early parts of Charice’s music career. Because of him, she was able to meet and sing with her music idols like Josh Groban and Ne-Yo. Plus, the demanding Foster compositions, like Celine Dion’s many songs, helped strengthen Charice’s singing and breathing skills.

The end of Charice-David performances might have also been due to Foster’s transfer to another recording company. This July 2011, it was announced that David Foster will take over the Verve label of Universal Music.

Previously, it was Foster who was heading the Reprise/143 label of Warner Music (which is also the label of Charice). He will now focus his efforts in shifting Verve from Jazz to Adult Contemporary.

Charice will most likely stay with Warner Music, as they’re doing great in building-up her fan base. But it’s not impossible for Charice to work again with David Foster when she’s old enough to shift out of pop and into adult contemporary (which she’s already great in, based on her singing competition background in the Philippines).

So for those Chasters telling themselves that there’s still a DFF concert with Charice next year, you better buy tickets to any of her upcoming concerts in Las Vegas or Asia, as that could be the last David-Charice performance you’ll see for quite a while.

0012 David Foster NYC Charice Fully Emerges From David Fosters Guidance

Charice Emerges From David Foster's Guidance

This piece of news might make some people sad at first, since David Foster was indeed a big part of the Chaster experience, but don’t be. Just think of this as a natural progression for Charice’s career. She can still sing big Whitney and Celine ballads, just without David on the piano. Plus, her new songs are fun to listen to and are all so current, but they still showcase  Charice’s powerful voice like what Foster’s songs also do.

Charice Back in the Studio with Songwriter/Music Producer JD Walker

Charice Back in the Studio with Songwriter/Music Producer JD Walker

Charice is still busy with creating the perfect follow-up to her hit self-titled debut album, “Charice”. The new singles that she released this year like “Louder” and “One Day” are perfect for the younger audience that she’s trying to attract to her music. But older fans are not left out because powerful songs like “Before It Explodes” and “Lost the Best Thing” still showcase the powerful voice that Charice has.

570 Charice Back in the Studio with Songwriter/Music Producer JD Walker

Songwriter/Producer JD Walker

It looks like Charice’s camp is not satisfied yet with these four new singles and they’re continuing to record more songs. Fans might be a little impatient for the 2012 release date of Charice’s sophomore album, but be thankful that they’re not rushing anything and instead, they’re making sure that Charice and her fans only get the best.

And the best is what we’ll get for sure because Charice has worked with topnotch songwriters and music producers for her second album. From Jim Beanz, Claude Kelly, to the Jackie Boyz, and now, JD Walker.

He tweeted:

He also included a photo where you could see the three of them in the studio, plus you could see Charice cuddling her cute dog:

JD Walker is a hit songwriter famous for his work with Auburn and Iyaz for the Billboard Hot 100 song, “La La La”. He is a native of Los Angeles but also lived in the West Indies and Jamaica, which helped diversify his musical taste. Walker is also labeled as an urban-pop songwriter/producer, so his preference for fast dance beats is perfect for the sound that Charice is going for in her new album.

Arjohn revealed today during his appearance on the Philippine variety show, “Happy Yipee Yehey”, that he will indeed sing with Charice on October 25. As Chasters all know, this is the date of the David Foster and Friends Asia Tour’s Manila Concert, which will be held at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

The title of the song that Arjohn and Charice will be singing has not been revealed yet, but for sure, this number will be one of the most awaited performances in the concert.

The fan-posted videos of his performances showcased his smooth voice while singing hits like Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and David Cook’s “Always be My Baby”. The latter one even featured his flute playing skills, which works great as an advertisement for the flutes he’s selling on the streets of Clark, Pampanga.

Charice must have watched his videos and saw the talent and dedication that Arjohn had in pursuing music, despite the hard life that he has now – so she immediately tweeted this:

Charice then urged her fans through Twitter to help find the boy and inform him of her offer, “Let’s find him, Chasters. Please find his FB, or whatever so we can contact him :)” Chasters succeded in locating the boy and they even filmed him saying thanks to Charice. Watch Arjohn say his full message in the video below:

It’s not just Charice who saw the potential that Arjohn has, even Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap expressed his desire in working with him. It’s highly possible that Arjohn would be able to follow the paths made by these two Filipino international superstars, with the right team behind him and with his fans undying support.

So this Acuvue One Day Celebrity Chat is a really great chance to satisfy your curiosity.

Acuvue getting Charice as their brand spokesperson is such a great move – especially for her fans as this partnership gave way to a single, a music video for “One Day” and gave Charice lots of collaborations with Nick Jonas, Boy Rekless and Adam Blackstone. Plus, she gets to inspire and help a teen take one step closer to her dreams of becoming a recording artist.

Now, Acuvue makes it even better by giving fans a chance to chat with their celebrity idols. All you need to do is log on to Facebook, and if you still haven’t done this, like Acuvue’s official page. After liking, go to the Celebrity Chat page, and take note of the time and date for the chat schedule of the celebrity you want to talk to. Here are the complete dates:

You can also invite your friends to the many chat events, and ask as many questions you’d like to have a better chance of getting it on air. The footage of the whole live chat is recorded, so you can still catch Charice answering fan questions and chatting with Meaghan Martin on Acuvue’s UStream Channel, if you missed the live air date. Or check back to this article after Sept. 6 as we’ll surely post the video here.

So what are you planning on asking Charice? Is it about her second album? Her love life? Or more random things like her favorite shirt or most hated food? Tell us  by leaving a comment below.
