Charice mentioned in some of her old interviews that she joined about 100 singing contests before Oprah and Ellen Degeneres invited her to guest in their shows. She was mentored by famous songwriter David Foster and performed with singers such as Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. She also appeared in the musical hit TV series Glee and some TV shows in other countries. She released two international albums “Charice” and “Infinity” wherein the first album landed 8th on the Billboard 200 Chart. With these impressive achievements under her name, she is more than qualified to be a judge in X-Factor. We can expect Charice to share her honest opinions and experiences that she has had in her long singing career.

During the live auditions, Charice sang some songs to entertain the audience in between taping breaks.

Yes. That is a famous Philippine song and it’s very appropriate for Charice as she came back to her home country to bring joy to our hearts and ears as well! So people thought they’d go to a concert but end up coming home from a wild party!

As soon as Charice set foot at Ninoy Aquino International airport, there were only two new hot topics: her new short, dyed hair and her fresh tattoo! Reading the comments on Twitter, it was so unbelievable how they attacked her “literally”! It maybe true that Charice can’t please everyone but do they have to be so mean?

Charice sporting a very cool tattoo on her left arm bought the house down! Everyone was screaming happily. (Hopefully, Chasters throats are okay) The audience were also singing and dancing! (Even with left feet!!! LOL!)

Charice should have been nervous before going on stage at the Araneta Coliseum because of the pressure the press and the numerous Twitter (yes she was trending again) comments addressing her new look! She’s finding her style, experimenting on her own way, let her be. She’s still in the learning and developing phase of her life. Being true to herself is what makes a person happy and human. And we know that Charice indeed is very talented and whether some of her fans and detractors will like her style or not, her confidence alone is very amazing.

Non-Chasters who attended the concert were converted, (they just couldn’t deny her talent), something they’ve not seen yet on local artists. Chasters were even more surprised and amazed. This is not a DFF concert, it’s her solo concert: her own style, her own renditions, her interactions with the audience, everything was well-planned on stage.

There was an added bonus of course in the form of Charice’s Little Big Star pals namely Makisig, Ralph, Kyle, Gian and Sam Concepcion in which they sang “Moves Like Jagger”.

They witnessed a world-class talent! Sorry for those who missed this chance, better luck next time. It is indeed a different feeling experiencing her perform live, she’s one of a kind that will give you both goosebumps with that unique voice!

There’s no denying it, it was a phenomenal show from a phenomenal artist named Charice!

So what else has made this tour special? Her rockin’ band! Each one of them is so talented (not to mention good looking!) that the girls were screaming and cheering for them as well.

The event was broadcasted last February 12 at GMAT TV. Along with the singing sensation are local artists Jay-R also known as the R&B prince and balladeer Mark Bautista.

Not only that Charice sang her favorite songs in the program; she also talked about her Infinity concert in Asia this coming March. In addition, there was also an emotional and tender moment wherein Charice paid tribute to her father who died last year by singing a song for him.

Overall, the TV Special was a success. It was a great Valentines gift not only for Chasters all over the world but to her fellow Filipinos as well.

Preview describes itself as the Philippine’s style bible, and Charice is a great choice for the cover and a spread that’s all about modern minimalism.

Charice’s personal style has never been over the top, but still attention-grabbing in an edgy, boyish way (see photo on the left).

But it’s been a shock to some people on how Charice looked on the cover, so they called-out the magazine for using too much Photoshop.

Nevertheless, it was proven that only the usual post-processing were done on Charice’s photo (e.g. removing a pimple on her cheek).

And that the transformation was done through dramatic make-up and the addition of faux bangs.

Plus, it was the Philippine’s top talents who were the ones in charge of Charice’s photoshoot: acclaimed photographer Mark Nicdao, celebrity stylist Liz Uy, veteran make-up artist Juan Sarte, expert hairstylist Buern Rodriguez and top creative director Vince Uy.

One glance on the cover below and it’s so obvious that that’s the one and only Charice, right?

Arjohn revealed today during his appearance on the Philippine variety show, “Happy Yipee Yehey”, that he will indeed sing with Charice on October 25. As Chasters all know, this is the date of the David Foster and Friends Asia Tour’s Manila Concert, which will be held at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

The title of the song that Arjohn and Charice will be singing has not been revealed yet, but for sure, this number will be one of the most awaited performances in the concert.

Arjohn Gilbert or known as “Aeta Boy” (because of his Aeta heritage), shot to fame when videos of him singing pop and rnb songs were featured on a TV show, which then helped double his views on YouTube.

The fan-posted videos of his performances showcased his smooth voice while singing hits like Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and David Cook’s “Always be My Baby”. The latter one even featured his flute playing skills, which works great as an advertisement for the flutes he’s selling on the streets of Clark, Pampanga.

Charice must have watched his videos and saw the talent and dedication that Arjohn had in pursuing music, despite the hard life that he has now – so she immediately tweeted this:

Charice then urged her fans through Twitter to help find the boy and inform him of her offer, “Let’s find him, Chasters. Please find his FB, or whatever so we can contact him ” Chasters succeded in locating the boy and they even filmed him saying thanks to Charice. Watch Arjohn say his full message in the video below:

It’s not just Charice who saw the potential that Arjohn has, even Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap expressed his desire in working with him. It’s highly possible that Arjohn would be able to follow the paths made by these two Filipino international superstars, with the right team behind him and with his fans undying support.

Charice’s Valentine Special aired in her home country, the Philippines, on Sunday, February 13, and topped the weekend primetime ratings with a huge 24% share of the audience for GMA-7 compared to rival network ABS-CBN’s 14.9% share  for it’s program “Star Power: Sharon’s Search for the Next Pop Superstar.”

Congratulations Charice on the success of your first major television special!

She proved her star power during an hour-and-a-half long program giving us her charming personality, beautiful voice, and guest appearances by Philippine celebrities Elmo Magalona, Rachelle Ann Go, Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid. She opened the show with a trio of powerful songs – Power of Love, Halo, and a recent favorite of hers, Grenade, a hit song by Bruno Mars who just seems to be everywhere nowadays. Bruno was nominated for 7 Grammy awards and came away with the Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for ‘Just The Way You Are’ during the Sunday night Grammy broadcast. We can only hope that these two talented artists might be able to collaborate sometime in the future?

Her first guest of the evening was young rap star Elmo who paired up with Charice to perform her dance chart-topping hit Pyramid and Reset. Then Rachelle Ann Go and Charice performed a fantastic duet of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” where their voices blended beautifully together. Michael V. joined Charice to give us some dance moves while performing Michael Jackson’s hit song ‘Billie Jean’. Finally, special guest Mr. Ogie Alcasid teamed with Charice to perform the Filipino standard Hanggang Ngayon, but not before providing us with some comic humor for the evening as he bantered playfully with Charice in her chipmunk voice about, well, I don’t quite know since I don’t speak the language, but they were obviously having a lot of fun up there! I’m waiting impatiently for the translations which we will be bringing to you soon!

In-between the guest appearances, Charice performed her usual showstoppers Listen, I Will Survive, All By Myself, the Bodyguard Medley, and Note to God. I especially enjoyed the special serenade of her mom with the appropriately titled song ‘Thank You’, an original song from her own CD.

But the most moving moment of the evening has got to be when Charice sang “Maghintay Ka Lamang (You Only Have to Wait),” a song which her mother used to sing to her as a child when she was sad. It’s hard to keep the tears from falling as Charice sings the song with a passion that we all love about her. The words describe well the strong faith and inner strength that Charice and her Mom somehow maintained as they waited patiently for the success that they are now enjoying.

As part of their ‘Holiday House Raid’ special segment, “SNN”, which is broadcast on Philippine station ABS-CBN, was given a guided tour of Charice’s family home in Tagaytay.

The show was broadcast on December 17, with Charice looking fresh and upbeat, no doubt relaxed and happy to be at home after her hectic year.

In a segment similar to MTV’s “Cribs,” cameras are welcomed by Charice at her front door where she offers to be “the tourist guide” for her guests, and takes them directly into her home’s richly decorated lounge and living room.

With Christmas not far away, the house had all of the festive items you’d expect, and Charice’s mother, Mommy Raquel, speaks about how she decorated the home and designed the Christmas decorations.

On the second floor of the house, Charice shows us some of her own photo albums, with pictures of her early singing contest appearances.

We are even taken into Charice’s bedroom, where we are shown her collections of cameras, stuffed toys and even toy cars. “It’s really my dream to have a car,” she explains. “It all started with this, you see – an Expedition (Ford). Then, I was able to buy an Expedition.”

Asked how many stuffed toys she has, Charice answers, “I don’t know. Some of those toys, I’ve had since I was still a baby.” She then introduces us to some of her favorites, which includes a specially made ‘Charice Doll’ that was presented to her in Manila while on tour with David Foster and Friends.

She also picks out a very special doll that she bought from “Adopt a Baby” in Las Vegas in November 2009, but it’s more than just a cute doll to her.

“When I got home and looked at the birth certificate and saw his birthday, he had the same birthday as my brother, who died 17 years ago,” she reveals.

“I thought, he is perhaps trying to let us know that he’ still watching over us, so we won’t forget him.”

Having had to do so much traveling over the past year, there is little doubt that she was happy to home for the break – in fact, she admits so on tape. In fact, even finding time for this house tour must have been a nightmare.

Just a few days before the broadcast, on December 13, she was in Orlando, Florida, appearing at the XL’ent Xmas 2010 event, and just two days afterwards she would be in Japan recording a mini-concert for J-WAVE Radio.

The eleventh episode took us from a concert in Allentown to another concert in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – but not before having a short side-trip to a radio station for a live interview. Charice is known for loving radio interviews because she “always has so much fun with the DJs”. KISS FM DJ Mike Miller looked like he had fun as well asking Charice about traveling all over the world and the kind of music that she does. The love for Charice didn’t stop in that radio booth that day because the audience at Hardware Bar was one amazing crowd. With them singing along and cheering, Charice easily got into the zone an delivered another exciting and memorable performance.

The Finale

Our calendars have already changed from 2010 to 2011 during the whole run of this incredible series. And the days of looking forward to every Wednesday and Friday are about to end, as this episode is already the series finale of “30 Days With Charice”.

Day 30 is aptly titled “The End of the Beginning”, which marks Charice’s transition from being a newbie in the music business to being an adolescent, perhaps? But for sure, those string of performances, interviews, and promotions have already baptized her into a world where everything is just going to get bigger than anything we’ve seen Charice do in the past twelve episodes. And what better thing to do on this day than feed some tigers! Every artist needs to take a break from being on the road and performing, and more so for Charice because, as Tommy Page, VP of Top 40 Reprise/Warner Bros. Records, said: “at the end of the day she’s still a kid” and “we try to make her feel fun and comfortable”. But being the born-performer that she is, her tiredness from travelling and touring goes away the moment that she starts singing and seeing all the people who’re watching.

For some, success and fame may bring negative traits to the surface like egotism and greed. But David Foster sees Charice differently, “Contrary to what you might think about what happens to people when they start getting success, I believe she’s somebody that will stay humble; and I believe she’s somebody that’ll keep singing whether there’s success or not.”

Both Iyaz and Marc Johnston, Charice’s manager, have seen something very special in her. Iyaz reveals how he’s become protective of her, who he considers as his little sister. Johnston even said how “there’s more talent in that girl than you can describe.” He also believes how film and television is going to be a big part of her music career, “it’s her destiny, I think.”

Charice describes her current stardom as something that should not be thought of surely. She takes it one step at a time, and is currently being thankful for the “achievements of my single and my album, that landed on Billboard at No. 8.” But there’s a fighter inside Charice, and she won’t settle for anything less if she can still do better, “It’s all good for me, but I’m just hoping for more.”

Being Asian can indeed be a hindrance for achieving international stardom and gaining a wide fan base in America, but Charice has already proven that it’s not impossible. And as a perfect ending to the series, Charice expresses how thankful she is for the support she’s got from the likes of Oprah, David Foster, Ellen, and of course, the Chasters all over the world. “Because of their love and support, I feel like they’re my family.”

As her thirty day press tour winds down, Charice takes time out for some fun at Six Flags where she feeds tigers with her brother, Carl. She’s still a kid, after all! Charice reflects back on the past month’s adventures and looks ahead to the promising future in store.

Previous Episode

The eighth episode documented Charice’s last few days in her homeland, the Philippines, before heading back to America. Instead of the usual packing and saying goodbye stuff that most people do, Charice being the huge star she is, still had shows to tape; and no less than ASAP XV, one of the biggest music shows in the Philippines. Charice is no stranger to huge crowds and singing huge songs, so her performance of the David Foster-written “In This Song” was, no doubt, goose bumps-inducing. Despite the success she has gained, Charice still has that humility and giving nature of the old Charice – and a birthday celebration with underprivileged children showed us that.

Charice is a Schoolhouse Rocker

This episode took us all the way to Philadelphia where St. Basil Academy won a contest on pledging not to talk or text while driving – and the prize? A private in-school concert by Charice and Iyaz!

The students of St. Basil did a great job in making Charice and Iyaz feel really welcome, with all the banners, shouts, and cheers. A crowd’s excitement and energy is essential for a performer to get in the zone for a performance, and the St. Basil student body was definitely a good crowd. Even Terry, a teacher at the academy, described the students’ eagerness to get inside the auditorium really early. Plus, Terry’s voice was being drowned out by the cheers from the concert which was actually 20-30 feet away from where she was being interviewed.

Is there something in the air at St. Basil that gets people all pumped up? – Even Charice and Iyaz looked as excited as the crowd about their performance. Or maybe it’s just the energy of the students? Yeah, most likely that’s it. Even Charice was amazed by the shirts worn by the girls with her and Iyaz’s name written on it, and of course, the way they sang with her. But us knowing Charice, all of this wouldn’t inflate her ego like most stars – and we’re proven right in the backstage interview where she said that, “I’m always thinking this is the beginning”, when the interviewer asked her if Charice already knows how big she has become now. Now that’s a way of thinking every other young star should have.

And did the students love the concert? They definitely did. Students Bridget and Dawn even said the way Charice sang gave them chills. Charice may have just found a new fan in Meghan, who thinks her voice is “really sweet” and that she “really likes her songs”. Carolyn, another student, gave a much broader opinion that all 400 students of St. Basil Academy absolutely loved Charice and Iyaz’s performances. No doubt about that, even the teachers and nuns liked Charice, and we see them hugging and talking to her after the concert. Charice’s charm leaves no one unaffected, young or old, and her talent’s appeal to a very wide age range is something really amazing.

Back in the United States, Charice reunites with Iyaz to award the winners of the “Don’t Text and Drive” campaign in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The small all-girl school is blown away by the duo’s performance and Charice and Iyaz earn some unexpected new fans.
