Updated on April 11
Charice was back in South Korea for her first live concert, the last leg of her “Infinity Asian Tour”. It also marked her 4th appearance on Starking, the popular Korean television show where her road to stardom began all the way back in 2007.
With its latest episode taped in March, Charice once again mesmerized and wowed the Korean judges with her powerful voice as shown on the teaser below courtesy of SBS which will air on Saturday, April 7th at 6.30 pm KST.

OK Chasters and fans, here is your chance to tell us what you think Charice should or could do to...

May I kindly request any of our Korean Chasters to provide English subs or translations on what went on during this 4th visit of Charice at Star King.
We know that the footages of Cha’s past Star King visits, MV, stars she collaborated with / helped her like Oprah, Celine Dion, David Fosters, etc. were mentioned.
I don’t know how Bruno Mars came in but I heard the words “Chingu” which may mean the 2 are friends for him to write a song for her.
Baro of A1B4 called out to her “Pengpengco do you like hip-hop seeing her clothing?” and Hgun of X-5 “striper male dance” were a lit bit out of contect.
Can we be englightened on these – SUBS or TRANSLATIONS PLEASE!!!
Thank you very much and God Bless!
I am from the Philippines, I don’t understand/ speak Korean and have been following Charice since 2007 Star King’s performance.
I do hope that Charice’s management and Star King may resolve the misunderstanding between them.
Here’s hoping for a 5th Star King appearance and another big break for Charice in her US Infinity album launch!

Well said, and thanks for this comment. I’m impressed by your command of English language; I wonder what’s your nationality? You write very well, and I’m looking forward to read more of your thoughts here at CM.

This is what you said: “Thanks I appreciate see I’m still here reading comments Im a solid fan and will be forever a solid fan of her but I guess I have to rest from our daily routine as Chasters routine of supporting her in a regular basis, I cried earlier perhaps I also said the wrong words or really did not think before I post my comment but for you paperroses and for Charice I will continue my silent support. I guess I got carried away by my emotion and my concern lead me to this, sad thing is we Chasters are fighting because of misunderstanding and misinterpretation. BIG THANKS paperroses. Don’t worry I wont stop until I see Charice on the top and became the most succesful and best selling female artist of all time”.
You know what I am one of the readers that thumbs you down on your previous negative comments but after this comment of yours I now salutes you for this. It takes a “MAN” to admit his mistakes. So hang in there and enjoy the ride witnessing the one of a kind Charice reaching the pinnacle of her success which what you said “The most succesful and best selling female artist of all time”.

She’s earning more than you are earning now. At her age, I’m struggling to earn 2 dollars in a day.
How old are you now? And what the heck if she’s not popular in the USA. She’s popular in the whole world. From A to Z.

Your comment tells me you have never been to a concert in your lifetime. Get out and experience a Charice concert you’ll never want to watch anybody else when you’ve seen her perform…that’s a guarantee. Most Filipinos would rather watch You Tube than experience something special. Concerts are cultural and social experiences, your ignorance will diminish when you go out to see concerts and shows. You can never learn listening to gossips.
When a Charice breakthrough album or single hit number one on billboard, every ignorant Filipino or American friend that you know will ride the Charice bandwagon. Furthermore, I don’t think Charice’s management had Filipinos in mind as her main audience when they launched her career in the US.

If you really want to know, all you need to do is go online and type in Charice and you’ll see a whole list of information, blogs, news articles, videos etc. about her. Even Nickelodeon, a very popular TV station gave her an award just recently.
As for her US Infinity album, she mentioned on an interview that they are still deciding which songs should be included. She didn’t give a specific date of release yet, she only said, it will be released this year.
In regards to some people not liking her, bcoz of her current style, her attitude, etc. I think people have different standards on what they are looking for in a celebrity or a performer. Some would go for a Beyonce, Lady Gaga or even a rapper like Nikki Minaj. They are all different and very successful in their craft.
Then we have Charice, the girl Oprah called “The Most Talented Girl In The World”. I think that says it all, but to elaborate more. Charice is humble, polite, very sweet and accomodating to people especially to her fans. This is the reason why she has so many diehard fans called Chasters around the world.
I hope this short explanation helped you somehow!

Just want to share my immediate feelings and thoughts as I watched the video. It’s a good thing there was no English translation as the lack of it allowed me to see and feel the video, as opposed to understanding what was said, and getting a “vibe” so to speak of the event.
Number One: It is not the same SK show. There was something lackluster about this event. The original host is missing and he was a big piece of Cha’s history and the show felt bereft without him. Troy, and especially Charice, looked subdued and tired and that may well have been the case as Korea was the last leg of her Asia Infinity tour. I don’t know who the guy singers were but I thought the guy who took off his shirt and did a strip dance was kind of ridiculous. He wasn’t even hot. Without the English translation, the whole thing felt rude to Charice. I felt insulted for her. Courtney has now tweeted that this taping was not approved by Cha’s management and that they were rude and disrespectful. Obviously there were some SK drama backstage and it was evident on the show. I’m conjecturing here but who knows maybe they feel she owes them or that Wonder Girls should have won KCA. Charice does not owe anybody anything. She’s grateful and humble to SK but even SK could not have fathomed then that a YT video of her appearance on their show would be so life changing for her. We are given what we are given and what happens is destiny.
Number two: I felt that Cha was being put on display again to show off vocal powers. Charice is striving to move forward in her musical career and endeavors and these type of shows are pulling her back. I dont’ think it is good for Charice for the media to always ask her to belt it out. I would not want to see Charice on some interview or radio show while promoting US Infinity and then have the host ask her to sing IWALY. We know that’s where she began but she needs to break from that if she is to move forward. Chasters who are with her as she moves forward will understand this sentiment.
Number two: The songs she sang (Saving all my love for you and the Alicia Keys song) does not lend itself very well to baseball jacket, hoodie, cargo pants and high-top sneakers. Like certain food and meats goes with certain wines, these songs goes with certain type of outfits. If she was singing a cover of Super Bass or some hip-hoppy song or something more snappy like Bounce Back, then it’s perfect. Not advising Cha or offering any criticism, just saying. Actually, the clothes she was wearing are like the type of clothes I have by my bed that I put on when I roll out of bed on Saturday mornings to run errands. The comfy go-to clothes when you dont’ want to think about what to wear. Nothing wrong with them at all. It just didn’t go with the song selections. We’ve seen Charice in all manners of outfits and we will see her in many more manners of outfits. Fashion experimentation and phases never cease for the young. It’s not until you’re well into your thirties and forties, I think, that a woman really learns or understand what style she is or who she is. If she stays in the business that long then we are guaranteed a parade of fashion thumbs up and thumbs down through the years. Just sit back and enjoy the parade.
Peace Chasters.

i think charice is loosing her commercial appeal, if she will not be smart enough with her style and career moves , her career might slowly die down….its just an opinion, i am a Charice fan and i am just concern about her career especially here in the US….I hope she will double check her style again…

You are absolutely correct in pointing out that it is in Charice’s best interest to always look her best when in public, specially in a televised setting. In a real estate classes I attended, they emphasized the importance of looking good at all times because they said “you’ll never know who you will meet”. Charice will be 20 years old in a few weeks and wearing outfits like this I believe should be reserved for amusement parks, the movies or some backyard barbecue with close friends.
I do not agree that gossip or entertainment media are not paying attention to Charice because she is Asian as you said or that she comes from a poor family. I believe she is over protected by the people behind her career because she is not known to have friends in the industry, a boyfriend or being spotted having late dinners or night outs with friends or some boys. She is absolutely very clean she can take the role of Bristol Palin as spokesperson for teen abstinence. She’s a recluse like the late Howard Hughes with only Courtney Blooding on her side.

As a moderator, I think you should allow an open discussion on Charicemania censoring comments only when posters use profanity and crosses the line and become disrespectful of others. Every visit at Charicemania no matter what the comments are, the sites ALEXA Traffic Ranking world wide increases and at the end of the day Charicemania is the beneficiary.
Charicemania ranks higher on Alexa per visit per page on minutes spent by visitors VS other artists. With that said…lets get ready to rumble !!!

Charice entertains. She does that for a living. And she is blessed to be working and doing what she loves most at the same time. She is not working alone, not all by herself. She might be overusing her mantra “this is me, this is who I am”. Once she stops listening to fans and the people she entertains, I am afraid, her supporters would drop one by one. I have been a fan for years, and now I lose interest. Others would be feeling same way. I feel insulted as a fan with her disregard for other people’s respect, with the way she presented herself in this show. At least, people want to see her decently dressed for the theme and the songs she sings.

Well put mate, was a huge fan of her but I 100% agree on this.

I wish she reads this, as this is so true & can relate to it. I’m still a fan, & I could only hope she also listens to constructive criticisms such as this. It’s not because I want her to dress up girly, but I felt the same way as you did on her overuse of “THIS IS ME, THIS IS WHO I AM”. It felt like me as a fan was disregarded.

on the other hand, some “fans” like charice only if she conforms to their “idea” of beautiful, sings a certain way or dresses the way they dress. these so-called fans have a measuring stick and sad to say charice does not measure up to their idea of beauty. so be it. but so long as charice expresses her own individuality, she will frustrate these fans who accept her on their condition.
franky, i am getting tired of the many “judges” of charice. i am sure so is charice. i just hope she will keep reaching for her stars and leave the wannabes behind her. common, why can’t we just be proud of what she has accomplished in her young life!

P.S. >> It’s really funny how all the boys on the back seat call charice 누나/noona (what korean boys call girls who’s older than them. More like older sister in English) when almost all of them are older than Charice. Jinyoung (21), Sandeul (20) who’s born on year 1992 but older than Charice by 1 month and 20 days, Haewon (21) and Ghun (22). Only Baro who’s born on year 1992 is younger than charice by 3 months and 26 days. XD Even some of the girls are joining the hype calling charice noona when they are supposed to call her
언니/unnie (what korean girls call girls who’s older than them. LOL but to make the fact straight the girls here are like 21-27 years of age so they should call Charice 동생/dongsaeng (what korean boys & girls call someone who’s younger than them) :]
