What do these people have in common with Charice?
Madonna, the Queen of Pop who is also a legendary icon. Shakira, the hip shaking Colombian songstress. Eminem, the popular and controversial rapper (not the colorful chocolate candy kiddos). Prince, said to be the rival of Michael Jackson during the glory days of heavy eyeliner (raccoon inspired make-up?) and gigantic/teased hair (Yup, it’s the 80′s). Usher, the famous R&B singer/mentor of Justin Bieber and last is the very famous Beyonce who just recently gave birth to a bouncing baby bonita named Blue Ivy.

Aside from being famous celebrities and having their own unique talent, these group of people share one thing. They are all one hit wonders! Nah! Just Kidding. Obviously, they all have ONE name that they use as their identity in the world of entertainment. They are the same as our beloved Charice.
Recently AOL Music had a countdown on their website the TOP 20 artist who goes by their one name. Charice was at number 18. Others stars included were Selena, Jewel, Seal (whose real name by the way is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel..pant! pant!), Rihanna, Adelle, Usher and more.
Actually there are more one name celebrities out there to be considered but the editors only picked the BEST OF THE BEST and Charice is the best!
For now she may be in 18th place on the list but ONE DAY (cue music and dancers) her name will reach FAR AS THE SKY and will be known to the NEW WORLD. Her music will be LOUDER than ever!
So congratulations Charice! You sure are LIVING IT UP!

This is to say that I think that the 2012 gala is billed “the power of love” for a reason, and Charice is part of the reason. The song “the Power of Love” was originally recorded by Jennifer Rush who made it big in the UK in the late 80’s. Celine then made it big in the USA in 1994. Now, more than a decade later, Charice has resurrected it and has become identified with it.

Charice is the most popular singer/performer in the world today. She accomplished this in such a short time. In watching her videos, try closing your eyes to get the full impact of her beautiful voice- it’s next to impossible; the eyes rebel because they want to take in every bit of her too. There are those who resent her, not so much other singers, but their fans who are protective of them. They are the ones that make wayward comments about her performances. Many others ignore her because she did not bide her time so to speak. All others like me are just so delighted that in just a few years she’s become a beautiful swan, whom we can listen to and look at every night before calling it a day!
I would even say that Charice is the greatest singer/performer of all time. I say this because I trust my own senses. I’ve seen her perform live twice at the Mandalay Bay. She stood out like the brightest star in the sky. The great David Foster himself gave her the greatest compliment he has ever given a singer. He said (paraphrased) “Guaranteed, 100% in just one year she will be one of the greatest stars in the planet!” This how one of the Canadian Tenors put it: “If you want to see the stadium explode, just throw in Charice.” Even Celine Dion said that “she hits the high notes better than me.” So there is no need to wait for Charice to become #1; she is already #1. Peace!

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Charice is “the greatest singer/performe of all time”. But she is “the greatest singer/performer of her generation”.

Today’s songs are much more complicated, demanding, and difficult to sing than ever before, and, as you concur, Charice is “the greatest singer/performer of her generation.” This observation alone would suffice in concluding that she is probably the greatest singer/performer of all time. But I will not rest on that alone. Here are my other reasons:
1) Charice is the only one I know that can mesmerize the audience without help from gimmicks, stage props, and choreography.
2) She is the only one whose covers sound even better than the originals (“kills” them)and consequently makes them her own.
3) Size for size, I don’t know of any who had/has a more powerful voice.
4) I don’t know of other singers who made the top 10 in her first try, and at age 16 or 17 to boot.
5) I don’t know of any others that became an international star practically overnight, or who have impacted the world deeply as she has. To be an Asian who could hardly speak English yet in a short time be in great demand by countries in Asia, Europe, as well as the USA is unprecedented.
6) All the accolades going to her are still at a peak. She gets standing ovations virtually every time she sings. She gets better and better as she ages. And she gets more beautiful in mind, body, and spirit.
7) She is the only singer that I know that has captured both the young and the old.
Of course, these observations do not necessarily make her #1 of all time. But I know of no other who meets the above attributes past or present.
Peace.

This is really unrelated to Charice, but these things are always nice to see (Filipinos doing well in other countries). Please click on cc for subtitles on the 1st one…

I wish there was a separate forum to discuss non-Charice related talent that are from the Philippines…it could keep us somewhat busy during Charice related postings…lol…

Ali smile(hard to do when one has Parkinson’s Disease) when she incorporated the Ali Shuffle into “Billie Jean” and then got up on Ali’s table in front of him and sang before having her picture taken with him.

Let’s wish that Charice will be chosen to perform in that event. She did perform for Ali a couple of years back and it was a huge success.
