Charice Off to a Great Start in Tokyo for the 2011 David Foster and Friends Asia Tour

Based on the audience turn-out in the two-day concert in Tokyo, it will be another successful run for the David Foster and Friends Asian Tour this 2011. Last year’s concert series also attracted huge crowds in key Asian cities, though Japan stands out by having two sold-out concerts in two straight days.

And this year, the trend continues with the successful October 19 and 20 DFF concerts in Tokyo. Plus, two other similar things happened: 1) A solo Charice concert was announced for the following year, and 2) Charice emerged as the main star of the show.

Tickets for Charice’s 2012 solo concert in Japan are selling like hotcakes

Yes, you’ve read that right. Charice will have her own concert next year in Japan. It’s scheduled on March 14, 2012 at the Shibuya Koukaido. Advance tickets were also sold during the DFF concert and a lot of people already bought theirs. Could this Japan concert possibly be a part of a multi-country Charice tour in 2012? It’s not impossible, but as of now, we only know that this is just a one-off concert in Japan.

Aside from David Foster (who was a part of the band in almost all of the performances), Charice had the most number of songs in the concert. She sang six songs, which included her own “Louder” and vocally challenging songs like, “Stand Up For Love”, “Unbreak My Heart”, “Power Of Love”, “Earth Song”, and “The Prayer” (which she sang with Michael Bolton).

Enjoy watching all of Charice’s performances below, big thanks to LantaoIsland for the videos:

“Louder

“Stand Up for Love”

“Unbreak My Heart”

“Power of Love”

“The Prayer”

“Earth Song”

And below is a video of Charice with Japanese Chasters at Japan’s Narita Airport before boarding her flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:

ron…Human nature is quite depressing sometimes as we tend to prejudge somebody’s capability. Everyone deserve an opportunity in life. You may not like Charice, however, there are millions who love and adore her. She has the amazing vocal range who can sing different genre compare to some other artists who are full of auto-tuned. David Foster, Oprah and other people won’t waste their time and effort if they did not see a real talent of Charice. Think about that before making a comment.

marcos39325, I have noticed that too. The ‘DF has new Charice, DF no longer produce for Charice, etc’, understandably negative news about Charice. I wonder why ABS-CBN do not favor Charice that much. Mga inggetera ba ang mga staff nila doon? Since the start, they have taken her for granted, or didn’t promote her much at all. Well, in all of us, especially when we’re successful, there are always that ‘evil’ eyes looking at us, wishing we stumble and never to get back up. Charice is so successful that the evil eyed people are so overwhelmed and can’t accept it. That’s life I guess. As fans, we are so lucky and proud of Charice, and her continuing success. She deserves all the accolades, that she worked hard for. God is always watching her.

I went to chaster’s gathering @ Max Restaurant, 25 Oct 2011 and met Tintol, Beda, Nege,Tita, Mina,Leah,Rodbelt, akemi, Lantao, Kenji & all. Thank you very much Phil Chasters for warm welcome, good food, excellent program and I had lot of fun. Only missing is Charice. We went to concert with Kenjie leading us to form a letter “C” with green lights in upper B box. The only thing I noticed was the concert not full to Max due to other concerts that night like BEP & other band. We had a lot of fun and enjoyment.

Yesterday Oct. 25, 2011 at about 4pm, I went at Max Restaurant, Gateway Mall to attend Chasters Gathering and while at the counter reception, after that I was given my name tag, the very first person that I come across with is NEGE, one of the most beautiful, popular Chaster of the planet. I greeted here softly saying HI! NEGE and to my surprised, glancing on my name tag, I was gifted by her with a sweet and warm embrace.( Hope that my wife won’t be able read this. Lol.) Honestly, at this point in time, I felt shy and awkward of what to do but just let it go, don’t know either if I reciprocate nicely and gentlemanly. Don’t get me wrong Chasters. She’s such a young sweet and loving Chaster.

I am so proud with my name tag and I enjoyed every moment wearing it while at the gathering and also at the concert venue. May I say, Forget About the Price Tag of Jessie J but rather be proud of the CHASTER’S NAME TAG.

My best regards to Gunrunner, Henri_V, Rodbelt and to all of you wonderful Chasters that I have met yesterday also am happy to see LANTAO live.

I’m going advance here. The Malaysian leg has just been concluded and youtube hasalready some clips posted of the event.

One funny part was that Ashanti did “I have nothing” and ‘IWALY” instead of Charice.

Nothing wrong here except perhaps how these songs were rendered. Not bashing Ashanti here, just saying how it is. perhaps I said after hearing Charice’s version, those that try to sing these pieces will alaways be gauged to that of Cha’s standards and in this case Ashanti’s version failed miserably.

You be the judge and check the video out.

I just wondered why DF let Ashanti try these difficult big ballads on an R&B singer? Or maybe the gurl though she can handle them. Truth?….she was struggling. Shows how Charice’s level is way above when someone tries to fill-in her shoes.

    Just my two cents…..

who cares who David let’s sing HIS OWN SONG’S. First of all, a lot of people Chasters included have complained about Cha singing the same thing over, and over, and oooover. So now Cha, IF YOU HAVEN’T NOTICED, is singing different songs and HER OWN song. What’s the matter with other people singing other songs? Who cares!? I for one am happy David is letting Cha sing her own songs.

Joel, Thank you for reiterating this IWALY matter. That’s what I’ve been saying since the video was posted. There are some fans in YT (I hope they’re not Charice’s fans) who are castigating Ashanti below the belt for singing IWALY instead of Charice. It’s shameful and it’s so unfair, and very immature. I’m elated that Charice has moved on from IWALY to singing her new songs and other DF’s composed songs. She’s very versatile singer and DF knows it. The reason why he tried Ashanti’s rendition.

    “From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jap is an English abbreviation of the word “Japanese.” Today it is generally regarded as an ethnic slur, although English-speaking countries differ in the degree to which they consider the term offensive. In the United States, Japanese Americans have come to find the term controversial or offensive, even when used as an abbreviation. In the past, Jap was not considered primarily offensive; however, during and after the events of World War II, the term became derogatory.”

This duet by Charice with Michael Bolton at the Araneta Coliseum is an improvement compared to when they performed the same song last week in another venue. It’s good that Bolton did the introduction, because it somewhat established the chemistry between them, which was lacking during the first time; this video shows they looked at each other more in acknowledgment of each other, while in the first video, they were just standing there beside each other, but they seem to be singing from separate rooms. I wonder if this is somewhat necessary if the audience are from a culture that follow different body language; in some countries in Asia eye contacts are deemed as sign of aggression.
It’s not like that in Philippines where there’s so much western(Spanish and American) influences. Perhaps the warm welcome of Charice fans in the home turf helped, because her singing here exudes more warmth; the first duet performed last week was a little bit of a downer. This song, The Prayer, is often sung at a wedding, which is usually an occasion for celebration, and doesn’t necessarily need to be sounding sad, but only mellow. The lyrics is about asking for guidance and justice, and also peace and hope; the volume here is turned up in supplication for hope, and the result is much better. Good work, Cha and Michael!

Many of Charice’s cover of power ballads touched my heart and soul, (All By Myself…Power of Love…etc.)
…But her deliveration of Stand up for Love, (mate, that…really hit me big time) simply reflects her mastery of David Foster’s song style and composition. albeit, matches her own mentor’s musical creativity genius.
    Her interpretation was absolutely flawless,smooth,amazing.

Mnc, charice can deal with it on her own. This is a learning curve for her that that not everybody will be nice. She will meet a lot of unpleasant things as she goes. We should just support and pray that she will have the wisdom and strength to handle it. Her journey should be an inspiration to all.

Justcharrie (October 23, 2011 – 3:36 pm Reply), I know you’re a nice person and you probably don’t know the issue with calling the Japanese People as “Japs”. “Japs” has a derogatory meaning in Japan. It’s like calling the blacks the “N” word. Don’t do that. The Japanese Chasters won’t appreciate that. Let’s preserve the good nature and good will of the Japanese towards Charice and the Filipino People. Thanks.

Actually, that comment was my fourth try (if I remember it right), and I just had to cut the term short so that it could be posted. It’s weird but comments coming from here are being filtered that we can’t use that terms (the “country” and “it’s people”) or else chances that our comments will be posted are slim (unless mods are 24/7 watching the spam section, or I’ll get their attention to release it,lol). Anyway, I don’t think that our J friends would mind that.

The only good photo he had so far & when I tried to take a photo of that bird (actually so many shots), she’s aloof & it doesn’t look good.

One time I chat here, somebody told me that I keep on criticizing Charice’ clotes, make-ups etc…which I never did. Yes, we have the freedom to express our opinion but please no negative as it really hurts! If you have suggestions (referring to the so called “CRABS”) why not contact Charice Team directly?
