Charice wowed a jam-packed arena in what was her first solo concert in the Middle East. Fresh from a successful string of shows in the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, Charice impressed a crowd of more than 5,000 in a Katara Hall that was transformed from a simple screening location into a spectacular concert venue.
Last-minute Change
The September 29 Doha concert started a few hours later than scheduled to give the concert goers a chance to come to the new venue. Originally slated for Aspire Park, the concert venue was moved to the Katara Hall at the last minute, as the promoter’s response to public clamor for a more convenient facility.
In a Gulf Times article, Golden Relations CEO Bilal Taha said, “Katara is today’s top choice for cultural events and other major happenings in Qatar. We at Golden Relations along with our event partner Regency Travels and Tours believe the breathtaking location will compliment the top caliber act expected from the international artist.”
“It was amazing to have an international superstar in Qatar as the first female major artiste in the Katara Hall,” he added, “once again it shows that the entertainment scene in Qatar needs such events as the demand is very high here.”
Golden Relations is the concert’s official promoter.
The Diverse Crowd
While overseas Filipinos typically flock to Charice’s international events, more than three-fourths of the Doha crowd were from other nationalities.
Aside from singing original material, Charice also sang covers of other international hits like her signature Whitney Houston medley to Adele’s more contemporary ‘Rolling in the Deep’. Charice even entertained song requests from the audience, much to their delight.
Charice further yielded to the audience as she sang covers of Beyonce’s ‘Crazy In Love’, Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’, Tamia’s ‘Officially Missing You’, Alicia Keys’ ‘If I Ain’t Got You’, Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the Way You Are’ and many more.
A British Fan by the name of Robert said, “The concert was exciting, it was good to see new talent coming to Doha and she has an amazing talent.”
Meanwhile, a Filipina fan named Lucy said, “She has the most amazing voice. I have never heard anyone sing as well as she can. As Filipinos we are so proud of her and it was amazing to get the chance to see her perform live here in Qatar.”
“It’s quite tricky. It was like listening to a recording because she sang the songs perfectly,” said another Filipino in the audience.
After Doha, Charice flew straight to Las Vegas for the David Foster & Friends concert. She had an early appearance in the concert so she could then fly immediately to Japan for the launch of her new album ‘Infinity’. Later this month, she’s also scheduled to perform in the Tokyo leg in the Hitman Returns: David Foster & Friends Asian Concert Tour.
Special Thanks to Mr. Bilal Taha, Promoter, Entertainer and Entrepreneur in the Middle East. CEO of Golden Relations, for the photos.

It is quite redundant to mention that our Charice is one of the most phenomenal singers who luckily came in our lifetime and has brought much joy and happiness to people in various walks of life. Many believe and are contented that her beautiful voice and music alone will eventually bring her to the top. Yet, many of us believe that Charice has yet too much talent to show and are still longing and waiting how far and high she can go in her quest. And dancing, as Charice mentioned in some of her interviews, is one of her passions. In her efforts to bridge the gap and reach out to the younger generation Auau correctly pointed out that adding tastefully choreographed dance numbers ala Liza will spice up and enhance the experience of watching future Charice concerts. How about watching Charice on the piano singing a jazzy ballad, ala Diana Krall?
Anyway, whatever Charice and her management decide to do with her career, I am here (to quote and plagiarize Lantao) to support Charice to INFINITY.

Kelly’s low key approach works and so does Charice’s where the vocals are the main attraction to their dhow.

I’d like to say, and some chasters might call me negative again for this comment, by just hitting the right notes when singing, that way gets old. Singers with that range are dime a dozen. More important is the connection with audience, when you tell a story that the bigger audience can believe and relate to. Good lyrics and melody that match, plus unique presentation, is the key. I’ve seen the old school as well, and I like Charice to learn from Liza Minelli and Rosemary Clooney, because I see their works copied by new breed of artists from time to time.

No, I won’t crucify you because that’s exactly what Chasters ought to be doing – refrain from comparisons of any kind, refrain from mentioning your race, etc.,…Charice belongs to the world now.

Those dancers that we saw so far with Charice in the stage are not really good dancers. mostly amateurs…they must hire best dancers (same caliber of Charice) like those dancers in Glee…

The reason for the delay of this article is because we’ve waited for the exclusive photos as promised to us by the organizer of this event. And since we haven’t covered it yet comprehensively, we thought this is still newsworthy.
Thanks to Mr. Taha and to RJ for writing this. We have more pictures to share, still too large though. (But we don’t want to bore you of course.)
We’re looking for writers, interested?

I’m with you, and you mean well, but Charice is a symbol to both Chasters and nonChasters. Let everyone, both groups, have their say on what they believe Charice can do. Some are content and just proud, but others desire the maximum and the optimum. This is entertainment world after all, and we are in this world to pass the time and be the best we can be, if possible. For some people time goes very fast. Nobody is complaining; just optimizing. Working with back ups is good because that is creating jobs for others, and also positive vibes. No man is an island, as they say.
