Charice’s prominence in Thailand has been highlighted once again, with leading expatriate magazine EXL featuring her on the cover of their March issue.
The magazine covers everything of interest to the country’s international community, from how to deal with culture shock to developments in music and entertainment. But in its latest issue it dedicates a two-page article, titled “Charice: A STAR IS BORN” detailing the rise to prominence of a singer it describes as a “certified international pop star” and a “bonafide international singing phenomenon.”
With all of the excitement surrounding the 18-year-old sensation in the US and her hugely successful solo concert tour in Japan earlier this year, it’s worth reminding ourselves of just how big an impression the teenage diva has made in every country she has appeared in.
Thailand, of course, is one of the Asian countries that has embraced her with fervor, with her album “Charice” attaining gold status in November, and a string of TV shows featuring the Laguna-born songstress over the course of the last 12 months.
In July last year, she travelled to Bangkok for the first time to promote her album, winning plaudits after a performance in front of an estimated capacity crowd of 6,000 in the Siam Discovery mall.
In October, she returned for her second public performance as part of the David Foster and Friends Tour, singing in front of an audience of 12,000. She performed for a third time in December, though this time at a private party celebrating the centenary of the Siam Commercial Bank.
The magazine article ends by reiterating the belief that Charice has further to go and is one to keep an eye on, even if her success to date is already remarkable in it’s own right.
“That Charice created quite a stir in the international music industry is probably an understatement, given her continuing rapid zoom to success,” it states.
“It is probably still too soon to tell if this girl with the sonic boom voice with a certified large worldwide following has the lasting power that all true superstars possess. ‘I still have a long way to go,’ Charice said in an interview in Bangkok. But isn’t that all the more reason to keep watching her?”
As an added element to the feature, EXL also carries an interview with a true Thai Chaster called Jangy in a piece titled “A Thai Chaster Speaks Out.” Jangy, who is described as an entrepreneur, saw Charice both times she performed publicly in Bangkok and answers a variety of different questions.
“Charice is the most down to earth celebrity I’ve ever met. She is always nice and so humble with her fans. I’ve never seen her get tired to greet her fans or sign autographs or take pictures with them,” she says, adding that her playful side helps to make everyone at ease around her, despite her stardom.
“She always makes everyone feel like they’re all special, so this is one of the reasons why I love her so much.”

– in this article where Bruno Mars got interviewed he said,
Q: Have you worked with any Filipino artist?
“Yeah. I just produced a song for Charice. It’s called Before They Explode.”
~ as far as I know? “Before it explodes” is sung by Alexandra Burke

Any news from Europe particularly Italy? There are Italian Chasters out there isn’t it? What with previous TLUC and Io Canto guestings and the Charice impact during her performances there.
How about Holland and England?
But its Italy I’m more curious about because of Charice’s duet with A. Bocelli and her stints with TLUC and Io Canto. Likewise, the TLUC candidates did a greeting on her 18th bday and her Adagio duet with Christian Imparato is now a certified youtube epic video. So I just wonder how charice fares with this country right now.

“when she sings, the diminutive 18-year-old looms larger than life, bigger than she really is; a true-blue show-stopper who merits endless standing ovations and non-stop applause; a real celebrity to adore and enjoy watching.”
“…she came, she sang, she conquered. She got a standing ovation from a gobsmacked audience. Not once but twice. And this was DeGeneres’ prophetic words: ‘Remember this moment.’ DeGeneres was proud to announce that the particular episode was ‘the beginning of this girl’s career.’ She told her audience not to forget that they saw her first on her show. “You can almost smell the star on her”
“Charice debuted in the luxurious Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as part of Foster’s international touring show. She held her own on a stage shared with musical icons such as Andrea Bocelli… and later with divas and legends such as Patti la Belle and Celine Dion. The only Asian, amateur, teen girl singing to a largely American audience did so to roaring standing ovations.”
Of course us chasters already recognize her immense talent and have been mesmerized by her performances for the past 3 years now. The rest of America is gonna find out sooner or later with Glee appearances and now the movie coming out next year where she will surely display her singing prowess in the movie. Let’s hope it’s a hit! The title is so appropriate… ‘HERE COMES THE [SONIC] BOOM’

Listening to her songs last night, it dawn on me her type of music last. In the make of Celine , Mariah, Whitney.
Differentiated from the ” run of the mill ,song and dance routine, splash in the pan types ” . How lucky can we get !
If bundling Pop, R&B , and classics all in one CD “PYRAMID ” was wise , her Management clearly is adjusting.
Will the elusive BEST SELLER HIT SONG come from the new album ?
You bet !
All the best , Charice.

The term “Sonic Boom” – those exact words came to my mind when I first read she was being cast in the movie “Here Comes The Boom” or “Here Comes Charice” with that explosive voice of hers.
