FEBRUARY 17 UPDATE: ENGLISH SUBTITLED VIDEO ADDED With her Japan tour fast approaching, Charice’s Japan team is pulling out all the stops to promote the Asian diva. After her concert tour was announced last October, Charice has been featured in a number of TV and radio shows, and has been the topic of several articles in niche magazines ranging from English language instruction to teen fashion.
Her team’s tactic appears to be to endear her to both males and females of all generations and professions. She has been featured in an early morning show, a show for musical aficionados, an information program aimed at the youth, a variety show and now, she will be featured in her first Japanese talk show.
According to her Warner Music Japan website, she will be a guest at the legendary “Tetsuko no Heya” (Tetsuko’s Room) on February 16th. It is an honor to be featured on the show, since the host is Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, a veteran of the showbiz industry and could may as well be the Japanese Oprah Winfrey.
It is a big deal to be invited to this long-running show – despite being on the air for 34 years, not every Japanese celebrity has been invited to chat with Ms. Kuroyanagi. To be asked to appear on the show means you are respected and prominent in your field, so it is indeed a momentous occasion for Charice, who only debuted in Japan last May, to be the latest guest. The 77 year old Ms. Kuroyanagi is known for being picky about her guests and her show – she hardly has comedians on and she insists that the show not be edited despite being a taped show.
The Japanese youth are more or less familiar with Charice and her story, so with this guesting at Tetsuko no Heya, we can expect that her fanbase among middle-aged and elderly females will grow as well. I can’t wait for them to be won over by our dear Charice.
Tetsuko no Heya airs Mondays to Fridays from 1:20pm to 1:55pm on TV Asahi (Channel 10 on Analog TV and Channel 5 on Digital TV).

try to compare all her live appearances on TV or concerts outside the Philippines and notice how clear, crisp, clean and defined the audio mixings are then move on to her numerous appearances on ABS and recently GMA, add to that the DFF concert in Manila….. i hope its just me, but i think and i am saying it with no disrespect, the “ear” of the regular pinoy audio engineer and technician is inferior to how more professional and world class audio engineers and technicians do their job….
Charice sounds a thousand times better with foreign tech and eng’s… i don’t think it is mainly in the equipments and gadget.. i think it is how professionally trained the ears are and how it distinguishes melancholic mixing against whats world class audio settings…..
but then again, i could be wrong….

Charice on the other hand, entered the mainstream with her mature-sounding and powerful voice, indeed being compared to the likes of established divas like Whitney, Celine, Beyonce and Mariah. And as she matures, one can only imagine how much more powerful and melodious she will get, like a fine wine that matures into perfection.
