Charice Wants Grammy ‘All in Good Time’

Charice Wants Grammy ‘All in Good Time’

With the 2010 Grammy Ceremony approaching, Charice has intimated that winning the most famous award in music is a major goal for her, but that she can afford to be patient. Speaking after her free concert at Enchanted Kingdom, a theme park based in her home town of Laguna, Charice showed no disappointment in Buy benemid probalan not getting a nomination for a Grammy, but was happy to add that there

was plenty of time yet for her to become an award contender. “I wasn’t nominated but there are more years to come, let’s wait for that,” she is quoted as telling the press. Despite her continuing success both in the US and internationally, Charice was not amongst the nominees in the two categories in which she would qualify. The five nominees for Best New Artist are Justin Bieber, Esperanza Spalding, Florence and The Machine, Mumford and Sons, and Drake. The Best Female Pop Vocal Performance category, meanwhile, will be contested by Lady Gaga for “Bad Romance,” Katy Perry for “Teenage Dream,” Sara Bareilles for “King of Anything,” Norah Jones for “Chasing Pirates,” and Beyonce for one of Charice’s own favorites, “Halo.”

Grammy Nominees Charice Wants Grammy All in Good Time

Chasters worldwide had hoped that the success of “Charice” at debuting in the Billboard album charts at No 8 may have won over the Grammy panel, but the Filipino songstress was always considered to have an outside chance – an opinion that the ever-realistic Charice seems to share. Interestingly, Charice’s colleagues at Glee have been nominated, with their rendition of “Don’t Stop Believin’” included in the shortlist for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocals. Also, Lady Gaga and Beyonce, the original collaborators on Charice’s famous “Telephone” duet with Rachel on “Glee”, have also been nominated in the category of “Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.” Charice’s performance at Enchanted Kingdom was part of the theme park’s 15th anniversary celebrations, for which she sang a variety of songs including “Pyramid,” “U Smile,” “Halo,” and “Bad Romance.” The concert took place less than 24 hours after her appearance at the “1@11″ event in SM Mall of Asia in Manila, where Chasters and press alike were frustrated at being given no after-show access to her. The event was one of the biggest that Charice has appeared in so far, with an estimated 80,000 people attending the musical extravaganza, which also included Filipino music legend Gary Valenciano and a host of Filipino celebrities. in addition to that..Josh Groban, a multiplatinum artist never won a Grammy! i second the motion that Grammy recently lost its credibility! Id rather see artists like Mandy Moore, Jennifer Hudson or Jackie Evancho and even Charice in Grammys than seeing autotunes and fake singers nowadays…

Thanks Tesalonian, that was a well-researched comment you have made. Yes, Charice does not need that kind of award for in my heart she already won that said coveted award, what if Kanye West will appear again onstage and grab that trophy from Charice, I just don’t know how our princess will react, LOL. I know there will be a “time” that she will be recognized by her limitless talent and “PATIENCE” is one of Charice’s virtues.

Grammy Awards Lose d Remaining Credibility They Had

Wid Beyonce winning more Grammys in 1 night than any other female artist in history, the awards have finally lost whatever remaining credibility they had

Consider the women who Beyonce has bested. They include: Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Sade, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, and Chaka Khan. Pity.

It is a reflection of the absolutely bankrupt state of the contemporary pop/r&b music scene

Update: Apparently, in one night, Beyonce won the same amount of Grammys that Whitney Houston has won in her entire career, and she topped Mariah Carey’s five.

@Thesalonian: thank you for grammy education 101, I like your little research and I appreciate you for that. I believe and I’m very optimistic that Charice will get a grammy and more grammies in a difficult way. It’s just that the world today is still adjusting on how to accept the first tiny asian with a big voice to be known as an international diva and dominate the world in singing for the next ten years or so, especially in the USofA and Europe.

These award giving bodies will be falling in line to give her awards! As she said, just be patient. She has a lot of years ahead of her and lots of years to sing and bring sunshine to our lives!

I rather Charice be as successful as Madonna (she has not won that much Grammy’s I think) as long as she is a house hold name.

But for that to happen….Release All her songs!! yes, yes, yes, we have to be PATIENT….so how about just release something in Asia…I’m sure it’s cheaper to do a music video in asia…lol

I am no longer surprised by what Grammy do anymore. Their previous new artist winners were loaded with “one hit wonders artists” such as Debbie Boone. Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, and Adelle who? Just look at the bunch of nominees for this year. Out of the five- i only know one -Justin Beiber. The other four? Never heard. LOL!!!!

Grammy Awards is not about good singers but singers who can attract the most audience and can bring more advertising dollars to the network. Charice vocal talents and skills are way above the Grammy standards that I just think there should be another awards for outstanding vocal talents without the hype. Like Tesalonian commented, there are a lot of well known bands and artists who sold millions and hit the charts but never won the Grammy…with or without the Grammy, our support is a testament that we chasters belong to our higher group of fans who can recognize true talents.

Charice is right. There’s a time for everything. Let’s be patient. She is just a new artist and she will gradually shine on her own. Remember, some artists that are famous today didn’t become famous overnight. it also took them years to be known, juz like Lady Gaga. She was even dropped by a record company when she was just a struggling new artist, but she continued and never gave up and look where she is now. Charice’s virtue is patience and she herself even told everyone that she is not in a hurry to get there. So let’s just enjoy her music for now, juz give her our full support and not worry about those awards coz there’s plenty of time for everything.

Charice would have won BEST New Artist 2010 & Best vocal performance.. come on don’t we all know that’s so obvious charice should have won if it was for talent and who’s the best but this Grammy thing is really depending on the whole popularity and paper hard money… poor grammy ..u give no justice

Having read this article, I tried to do a quick read-up on the Grammys, American Music Awards (AMA), and Billboard Music Awards (BMA). For the Grammys, it was said that voting is solely based on quality. What kind of quality or its definition, I dont’t know. For the AMA & BMA, votings are based on popularity – sales, airplay, downloads, etc. My sources are wiki and their respective websites.

Having said that, the judges in the Grammys are no better than the LBS judges who were supposed to select quality artists.

QUEEN : As of 2005, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, Queen albums have spent a total of 1,322 weeks or twenty-seven years on the United Kingdom album charts; more time than any other musical act including The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Also in 2005, with the release of their live album with Paul Rodgers, Queen moved into third place on the list of acts with the most aggregate time spent on the British record charts, but Queen has still never won a Grammy.

LED ZEPPELIN : With their heavy, guitar-driven sound, Led Zeppelin are regarded as one of the first heavy metal bands. However, the band’s individualistic style draws from many sources and transcends any one genre. The band have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, including 111.5 million sales in the United States and they have had all of their original studio albums reach the U.S. Billboard Top 10, with six reaching the number one spot. Led Zeppelin are ranked #1 on VH1′s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. Rolling Stone magazine has described Led Zeppelin as “the heaviest band of all time” and “the biggest band of the ’70s”. But sorry, no Grammy for them.

DIANA ROSS : A twelve-time Grammy and Oscar-nominated singer, record producer and actress, whose musical repertoire spans R&B, soul, pop, disco and jazz. During the 1960s, she helped shape the sound of popular music and the Motown Sound as lead singer of The Supremes before leaving for a solo career in the beginning of 1970. Since the beginning of her career with The Supremes and as a solo artist, Diana Ross has sold more than 100 million records. Apparently not enough to win a Grammy though.

THE WHO : The primary lineup was guitarist Pete Townshend, vocalist Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. They became known for energetic live performances, are one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s and ’70s, and recognized as one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, their first year of eligibility. According to the New York Times, The Who have sold 100 million records yet were never recognized by the Recording Academy.

the beatles never wona grammy awars and elvis never won a grammy in rock’n roll music genre. he won 3 grammys on gospel genre category (??????) but never in rock’n roll genre.

today a lot of autotune singers are winning a bunch of grammys every year, a new rule was set wich the likes of beyonce, madonna, lady gaga can be nominated every year as a new artist if they realease an album in that same year of nomination.

our princess does not need a grammy since grammys lost credibility long time ago as mtv music awards and most of that kind of events. just look at the winners and tell that new singers/ bands really deserve that awards or even be nominated?

just my very own opinion and I respect all of you and our princess wishes, but she is bigger than any grammy could be thrown on her. best regards from greece your # 1 fan in greece tesa.

I apologize since my english skills are not that good. thank you for your understanding.

      Egggzackly right. (applauds)

It’s great to dream of getting an award like the Grammy–and Charice WILL get there when the time is right–but getting an award like this is just one of the many, many ways one earns recognition and immortality. For me at least, what’s important is that our Charice gets to do what she was born to do: sing her heart out, and while she’s doing that, sing all our hearts out as well until the planet itself is getting goosebumps.

Grammies are all well and good, but there are far greater scoreboards and panels of judges than the ones manning these awards. And I am so, so glad that Charice is winning stellar points in the great, cosmic Billboard of life.

Have a spectacularly Charice-filled new year, everyone. ^_^

now, i wouldn’t feel so bad about this award.
it won’t hurt though if charice was nominated.

based on the facts you’ve stated, grammy’s may not necessarily lost it’s credibility, but they proved to be relevant when it comes to pop culture, in which they are more inclined to favor, in lieu of talent, imho.

TESA!!! Nice to see you here again and your comeback is a BOMB! Very nice info you got us. I have no idea how the Grammy chooses their nominees and what are their criteria in selecting the winners. Though Grammy has chosen some artists who do not pass on our criteria of excellence, I still don’t want to demerit the institution cuz I believe someday Charice will get that award and we want that to be BIG. She doesn’t need Grammy to proove herself more, but if she be given one, we’ll be more than happy for her.
