With the 2010 Grammy Ceremony approaching, Charice has intimated that winning the most famous award in music is a major goal for her, but that she can afford to be patient.
Speaking after her free concert at Enchanted Kingdom, a theme park based in her home town of Laguna, Charice showed no disappointment in not getting a nomination for a Grammy, but was happy to add that there was plenty of time yet for her to become an award contender.
“I wasn’t nominated but there are more years to come, let’s wait for that,” she is quoted as telling the press.
Despite her continuing success both in the US and internationally, Charice was not amongst the nominees in the two categories in which she would qualify.
The five nominees for Best New Artist are Justin Bieber, Esperanza Spalding, Florence and The Machine, Mumford and Sons, and Drake. The Best Female Pop Vocal Performance category, meanwhile, will be contested by Lady Gaga for “Bad Romance,” Katy Perry for “Teenage Dream,” Sara Bareilles for “King of Anything,” Norah Jones for “Chasing Pirates,” and Beyonce for one of Charice’s own favorites, “Halo.”
Chasters worldwide had hoped that the success of “Charice” at debuting in the Billboard album charts at No 8 may have won over the Grammy panel, but the Filipino songstress was always considered to have an outside chance – an opinion that the ever-realistic Charice seems to share.
Interestingly, Charice’s colleagues at Glee have been nominated, with their rendition of “Don’t Stop Believin’” included in the shortlist for Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocals.
Also, Lady Gaga and Beyonce, the original collaborators on Charice’s famous “Telephone” duet with Rachel on “Glee”, have also been nominated in the category of “Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.”
Charice’s performance at Enchanted Kingdom was part of the theme park’s 15th anniversary celebrations, for which she sang a variety of songs including “Pyramid,” “U Smile,” “Halo,” and “Bad Romance.”
The concert took place less than 24 hours after her appearance at the “1@11″ event in SM Mall of Asia in Manila, where Chasters and press alike were frustrated at being given no after-show access to her.
The event was one of the biggest that Charice has appeared in so far, with an estimated 80,000 people attending the musical extravaganza, which also included Filipino music legend Gary Valenciano and a host of Filipino celebrities.

Grammy Awards Lose d Remaining Credibility They Had
Wid Beyonce winning more Grammys in 1 night than any other female artist in history, the awards have finally lost whatever remaining credibility they had
Consider the women who Beyonce has bested. They include: Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Sade, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, and Chaka Khan. Pity.
It is a reflection of the absolutely bankrupt state of the contemporary pop/r&b music scene
Update: Apparently, in one night, Beyonce won the same amount of Grammys that Whitney Houston has won in her entire career, and she topped Mariah Carey’s five.

Grammy is directly connected to Music industry and there i believe there is politics inside though they considered talents aside from popularity…

Having read this article, I tried to do a quick read-up on the Grammys, American Music Awards (AMA), and Billboard Music Awards (BMA). For the Grammys, it was said that voting is solely based on quality. What kind of quality or its definition, I dont’t know. For the AMA & BMA, votings are based on popularity – sales, airplay, downloads, etc. My sources are wiki and their respective websites.
Having said that, the judges in the Grammys are no better than the LBS judges who were supposed to select quality artists.

LED ZEPPELIN : With their heavy, guitar-driven sound, Led Zeppelin are regarded as one of the first heavy metal bands. However, the band’s individualistic style draws from many sources and transcends any one genre. The band have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, including 111.5 million sales in the United States and they have had all of their original studio albums reach the U.S. Billboard Top 10, with six reaching the number one spot. Led Zeppelin are ranked #1 on VH1′s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. Rolling Stone magazine has described Led Zeppelin as “the heaviest band of all time” and “the biggest band of the ’70s”. But sorry, no Grammy for them.
DIANA ROSS : A twelve-time Grammy and Oscar-nominated singer, record producer and actress, whose musical repertoire spans R&B, soul, pop, disco and jazz. During the 1960s, she helped shape the sound of popular music and the Motown Sound as lead singer of The Supremes before leaving for a solo career in the beginning of 1970. Since the beginning of her career with The Supremes and as a solo artist, Diana Ross has sold more than 100 million records. Apparently not enough to win a Grammy though.
THE WHO : The primary lineup was guitarist Pete Townshend, vocalist Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. They became known for energetic live performances, are one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s and ’70s, and recognized as one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, their first year of eligibility. According to the New York Times, The Who have sold 100 million records yet were never recognized by the Recording Academy.
the beatles never wona grammy awars and elvis never won a grammy in rock’n roll music genre. he won 3 grammys on gospel genre category (??????) but never in rock’n roll genre.
today a lot of autotune singers are winning a bunch of grammys every year, a new rule was set wich the likes of beyonce, madonna, lady gaga can be nominated every year as a new artist if they realease an album in that same year of nomination.
our princess does not need a grammy since grammys lost credibility long time ago as mtv music awards and most of that kind of events. just look at the winners and tell me..do that new singers/ bands really deserve that awards or even be nominated?
just my very own opinion and I respect all of you and our princess wishes, but she is bigger than any grammy could be thrown on her. best regards from greece your # 1 fan in greece tesa.
I apologize since my english skills are not that good. thank you for your understanding.

It’s great to dream of getting an award like the Grammy–and Charice WILL get there when the time is right–but getting an award like this is just one of the many, many ways one earns recognition and immortality. For me at least, what’s important is that our Charice gets to do what she was born to do: sing her heart out, and while she’s doing that, sing all our hearts out as well until the planet itself is getting goosebumps.
Grammies are all well and good, but there are far greater scoreboards and panels of judges than the ones manning these awards. And I am so, so glad that Charice is winning stellar points in the great, cosmic Billboard of life.
Have a spectacularly Charice-filled new year, everyone. ^_^

WOW! What a thought provoking FACT in the music world. Nice to know that even Elvis never won in the category where he is KING (lol). It even tickles my bone to know that BEATLES never got any.
Thanks tesa for this wonderful info.
Hey tesa , chat with us sometimes if you have time. We miss you a lot. Nice to read from you.

now, i wouldn’t feel so bad about this award.
it won’t hurt though if charice was nominated.
based on the facts you’ve stated, grammy’s may not necessarily lost it’s credibility, but they proved to be relevant when it comes to pop culture, in which they are more inclined to favor, in lieu of talent, imho.
