It’s pure speculation at this time, but since the news of David Foster’s engagement to girlfriend Yolanda Hadid over the holiday period there has been some chattering over who will have the honor of performing at the couple’s wedding.
With four decades of accomplishment in the music business behind him, it is pretty much a case of take your pick of singing superstars, such as Neil Diamond, Donna Summer, Celine Dion, Michael Buble or Andrea Bocelli, but there is little doubt that Charice herself would be amongst the favorites.
Other than her spellbinding voice, her popularity with Foster is one reason why she may get the nod. Another is the fact he has been honored by his protege already, when he was asked to become her godfather in May, when Charice turned 18. He may then ape that honor by handing her the microphone.
A teary-eyed David Foster sitting in the crowd, announces that Charice just asked him to be her godfather.
But of course, there are so many singers certain to be at the wedding party, if not the ceremony itself, that it’ll be hard to keep all of them off the stage.
Meanwhile, Charice will perform with her godfather again on January 15, when the David Froster and Friends troop gives a private performance at the Mar-a-Lago Country Club in Palm Beach, Florida, which is owned by US multi-billionaire Donald Trump.
She is set to be joined there by RnB singer and songwriter, Kenneth ‘Baby Face’ Edmonds, and junior singing sensation, 10-year-old Jackie Evancho, with whom she has performed several times over the past few months, including on CBC’s Season of Song TV event in Toronto in December.
The Mar-a-Lago gig will come less than a week after the launch of Charice’s own range of perfumes, created by Philippine scent-king, Joel Cruz. They are due to be launched at a major music event in Manila on January 8, “1@11,” where Charice will perform for the first time alongside Filipino music legend Gary Valenciano.
