In keeping with our end-of-year impulse to pick through the best bits of 2010, we’ve drawn up a shortlist of 5 options for Charice’s Most Memorable Concert this year. The trouble, of course, is that because of her cris-crossing North America and the globe, the Filipino singing idol has given a large number of great performances.
Nevertheless, we’d like you to vote for the best of the five listed. Some of you will have actually been there – whether it was in Manila, Las Vegas, Bangkok or LA – while more of you will have seen footage here on charicemania.com, YouTube or elsewhere.
Regardless of how you witnessed Charice’s performances, we want to read your comments and vet your votes. Let us know which of the five choices did most to raise your hearts, your pulses, yourselves from your seats – or even raised goosebumps on your skin!
Most Memorable Concert (Editor’s Choice):
Back in February, Charice returned to Manila for a special Valentine’s concert at the PICC Plenary Hall, directed by the Filipino classical and jazz composer Ryan Cayabyab. Her home support were treated to an amazing performance, so amazing, in fact, that the audience gave no less than 3 standing ovations for what was described by some reviewers as the greatest on stage performance in recent years.

2. Charice Asian Tour, Thailand
Before Charice made it to Bangkok with David Foster, she arrived for a solo concert at the Siam Discovery Center on July 23. Some 6,000 fans attended the concert, her first in Thailand and she left them in awe and on their feet with powerful renditions of “Halo”, “I Love You”, “In This Song”, “I Have Nothing/I Will Always Love You” and, of course, “Pyramid”. By the time she return with David Foster, her album had gone Gold.

3. David Foster & Friends, Las Vegas
We’re spoiled for choices for reasons why this is amongst Charice’s top 5 concerts. Could it be her rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” alongside Ne-Yo, which brought the audience to their feet? Could it be her shiver-enducing version of “All By MySelf”? Or could it be her inspiring interpretation of “To Love You More”. Whatever the reason you choose, her first appearance of the 2010 David Foster & Friends Tour had everyone talking. >> Full story

4. David Foster & Friends, Manila
The second of Charice’s Manila concerts, but this time she brought some of the biggest names in music with her. The event at the Araneta Coliseum was sold out, and the 10,000-strong audience didn’t leave disappointed. Charice was arguably in the finest voice of the tour, perhaps buoyed by the fact she was on home soil, and performed “The Power of Love” and “Pyramid”. Filipino audiences are infamous for not giving standing ovations, but Charice managed to illicit two from them, for “All By Myself” and the Bodyguard Medley. >> Full story

5. The Grove LA (Charice David Archuleta duet)
It’s certainly one of the most popular concerts she has done, with Charice’s duet with David Archuleta the highlight of her appearance at The Grove in Los Angeles in November. Perhaps most of the chat about it emanates from the duo’s reported romance, but with an audience, which included some of Hollywood’s biggest names, wowed by her voice and onstage presence, there is no getting away from Charice’s memorable performance. >> Full story

I went to the DFF Manila concert for two reasons…to hear Charice sing in person and to witness how the audience (yes, myself included) would show their appreciation.
For the first time in my life, the audience has become my concern!
I’m a new fan of Charice. About four months now. Because of my work, I could hardly watch primetime TV. No Little Big Star. No ASAP. Rare TV news. Got newspaper, yes, but I read only the headlines and one or two editorial columns. Not really interested in entertainment news because they’re mostly gossips. I didn’t know much of the showbiz happenings.
Then, I heard some people talk about a singer named Charice. There was a mention of her guesting on Oprah. And she was on Ellen, too. Then came Glee.
Who is this Charice?!
My curiosity led me to my newfound friend, YouTube. I was overwhelmed with the countless Charice videos available. I was like a student cramming for an exam. My old friend, Google, was also very accomodating. You know, when you have friends like them plus your curiosity, you will definitely get Chadiction.
After the Charice 101 online course, came the special project: The DFF Concert. Because of what I learned in Charice 101, the audience became my concern. As you have mentioned above, Charice managed to illicit standing ovations for the “Bodyguard Medley” and for “All By Myself.” These were her 4th and 5th songs! So, could you just imagine how worried and nervous I was after each of her first, second and third songs?
I went home with a big smile, though. Not only because I got to see Charice and listen to her sing in person but also because the audience’s reaction was more than great.
After the “Earth Song,” which was their answer to the second encore, the audience did not move to exit the Araneta Coliseum, even if nobody was on the stage anymore. They were there standing, clapping, screaming, hoping that Charice would come out and sing again. Then, there was an uproar because David and Charice came out again. But only to take their final bows of the night. When the tandem turned and disappeared from the stage the second time around, still no steps made. The clapping and hoping continued. It was only when the lights were switched off one by one that the audience accepted that it was really over.
That night, the Filipino audience finished the Standing Ovation 101 of the Appreciation Course. The teacher was Charice.

How can we help Charice build her base?
For those who missed Part 1 which I posted last week, below is something similar, with different video attachments. This article is a litlle bit long as well but I believe that it is worth reading.
This is Part 2 of how to capitalize on “Other Performances” to showcase Charice’s performances & videos and show people you know how Special and Talented Charice really is! Share it to your friends and relatives and you’ll be glad you did!
Charice’s performances have captured the hearts of so many people all over the world! Her global presence, I believe, suddenly triggered a lot of interest in Philippine music. We have produced some good composers in the past and singers like Charice, I believe, are helping them to be recognized.
I came across several youtube video clips of different groups, in different countries, performing Philippine folk songs. Is it a mere coincidence that most of the videos were recorded between 2008 and 2010 (mostly in 2010) when Charice’s global fame is beginning to take off?
Below links show two groups singing “Rosas Pandan”, a Filipino Visayan Song, performed by a Russian Choir and The Chamber Choir at BHS in the U.S. You may E-mail these links to your friends and relatives as a “teaser” to catch their attention and interest. You may attach any two or three of Charice’s performances which you like best and you will be amazed on the positive result! Friends and relatives who are indifferent or who still don’t care much about Charice will suddenly have a change of heart!
This actually happened to me. I have E-mailed a lot of Charice’s videos to my friends and relatives in the past because I wanted to share Charice’s talent with them. Very few seemed to care. Most of them don’t even attempt to open the links.
Last week, I sent an E-mail to the same group of friends and relatives with a video clip of “Paru-Parong Bukid” performed by a college American Choir from Missouri. The subject of the E-mail was “Paru-Parong Bukid Performed by an American Choir”. I also attached a couple of Charice’s videos in the E-mail. Sure enough,
I finally caught their attention. After opening the links to the American Choir video, they also opened the links to Charice’s videos. I learned about it because I got a lot of feedback this time. They told me how good they think Charice is now!
You may attach different video clips of Charice each time you send an E-mail similar to above. This is to show them more of Charice!
I am very positive that this strategy will help Charice! If you feel the same way, please do the same to help build Charice’s base.
Peace and God Bless.

And as her norm, Charice gave them the performance of their lives keeping them in “frenzy” and asking for more with her I love You, Pyramid, Halo, In This Song, Interviews and particularly BMedley were the crowd sung with her. She’s awesome. She is a new sensation “Diva” and they love everything about her.
Siam Discovery was well-organized and the big noisy rauceus fans really enjoyed Charice with those big 3 screened panels overhead. This rivals and I think equals the Toronto Eaton Centre Mall settings, the fans, the atmosphere and the total pandemonium.
Only Charice can create that “mob scene” in North America and now all over ASIA.
