“30 Days With Charice” is a documentary by Emmy-award winning director Matthew Mills, cut into four-minute-episodes with new ones released every Wednesday and Friday on Teen.com.
Previous Episode
The sixth episode revealed to us the very loving and giving Charice who never forgets where she came from. Returning to her birthplace, the Philippines, must have been a bittersweet event where she can see the poverty of others which she has experienced as well. But instead of letting that get her down, she celebrated her 18th birthday by putting up an event at a theme park exclusively for underprivileged children. Charice planned on performing for the children but she was pleasantly surprised when the children also got onstage to perform for her. A touching moment in the episode was that of a young girl who got what she wished for – to sing with her idol, Charice. The episode ended with Charice looking up a night sky lit up by bright fireworks after being mobbed by avid fans.
Let’s Get Spiritual
This episode continues our exclusive peek into Charice’s return to her birthplace, the Philippines. And now that she’s 18, Charice will get baptized into the Catholic faith. Because of her superstar status, Philippine media swarmed to the church to cover the baptism attended by the bigwigs of the local entertainment scene. Oprah and David Foster who also accepted the responsibility of being godparents, but were unable to fly to the Philippines, sent in their stand-ins. The guests and Charice all wore pristine white outfits fit for such a spiritual event.
Looks like God has already blessed Charice right after being baptized with a huge turnout for her solo concert in the Philippines. With lines of people snaking way past the venue hours before the concert, it shows how dedicated the fans of Charice can be. David Foster even labels them as “rabid” and that’s a good thing since it shows how they are proud of Charice as a whole nation. But the success hasn’t even gone to her head one bit as a fan describes how humble Charice is without any airs of superiority.
With the seats being filled up continuously, it’s obvious that the audience is going to be really huge! Charice confirms this when she reveals that this is the biggest Filipino crowd she has ever performed for. But the number of people doesn’t even faze Charice as she continues with the preparations in a very relaxed manner. Once out the stage, Charice immediately captures the crowd with her amazing voice, cool moves, and really strong presence.
The audience’s happiness on getting to see someone like them achieve tremendous success overseas is also matched by Charice’s pleasure in being able to perform the new songs in her international debut album for her co-Filipinos. Looks like for her countrymen Charice has already reached the top of the pyramid.
Charice performs in front of her biggest Filipino audience yet… but first? Church for her baptism.

What’s Next?
We’re still in the land where it’s always sunshine-y and Charice is still busy as ever with another birthday celebration with kids in need. We’ll also see behind-the-scene footage of Charice’s performance at a highly-watched variety show in the Philippines. But it looks like you have to wait a little longer to see episode 8 as teen.com is taking a break this Christmas Eve, and will release the next episode of “30 Days With Charice” on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.

Hearing Charice say how important it is for her to get baptized is uplifting. I am a cradle Catholic and those words of simple faith made me reflect on the mystery I entered at my own baptism and now must consciously dwell in. I’d like to thank the Iglesia Ni Kristo pastor who counseled Charice’ mom and dad in their turbulent years together. But for that pastor, any of the many quarrels could have turned tragic much earlier and worse than what’s revealed on Oprah. In her attempt to keep the family together, Mama Raquel went with her husband to INK but returned to her Catholic faith when she left him. Without getting them baptized, she raised her children Catholic.
The baptism could have been more significant had it been celebrated in Quiapo church where Charice admitted she experienced God’s saving grace in her moment of pain caused by those who taunted her and delighted in her loss at Little Big Star. Charice was about to quit singing but her mom brought her to Quiapo church to pray and get deliverance. The church is known for little miracles…and, now, a big one.

Teen.com is not hurting by our coverage, they have a lot more viewers than we do as shown by the sheer number of comments on each episode over at teen.com… 572 comments on the first episode alone although it’s slacked off to 128 for last episode 6. Sooo.. reminder to chasters to leave a comment at teen.com to keep the Charice webisodes in the “most talked about” and “what’s hot this week” boxes over at teen.com
