CNN Report “Charice News Network”

It is 10:15 PM EDT and I just got back from my MOST UNFORGETTABLE and probably, to plagiarize LAfan, my most AN-BEE-LEE-BA-BLLLEEE experience with Charice. This is very long but please, read on!
It was a pretty hot day probably in the high 80’s. I finally reached the place quite exhausted from the heat at about 3:00PM and by this time have consumed 2 of my 3 bottled water. I met a couple of Filipinas to whom I started showing off my pictures with Charice that I am always carrying, hoping Charice may, one day, autograph together with my 2 CDs realizing that there is no M&G plan for the event.
I then decided to walk around the arena looking for the backstage entrance as my penchant every time I watch a Charice event and already thinking what BS story to tell security to gain entry. To my surprise, I found an unguarded open gate on the right side of the stage leading to the arena where live rock music seems to be playing. I climb up the steps and saw a rock band rehearsing in a TOTALLY EMPTY arena. I then saw an elderly guard whom I approached and nonchalantly asked him if Charice will be rehearsing.
He said Charice was coming next. I then engaged him in a conversation telling him the life stories of Charice rise to fame from the poor little girl joining contests back in RP to feed the family up to the Ellen-Oprah-DF-Celine days to the present. The guard was so impressed that he did not bother to ask me to leave!
Then Charice appeared with Carl and I casually walked down in front of the stage. I waved at Charice who waved back at me with a smile. And there she was rehearsing in front of me as the ONLY AUDIENCE saying to myself, a private performance, indeed. She did a few bars of “Pyramid,” “I Love You” and the last bars of “A Note To God”!
Then a Filipina who I found out to be a volunteer stage hand appeared under the tunnel leading to the backstage came to me and asked me if I know Charice. I said that I am just a die hard fan and would like to meet her if possible. She motioned to follow her and there I was right behind Charice as she was just finishing her rehearsal.
I approached her, said ‘Hello, sweetheart,’ shook her hand, can’t help myself and kissed it! I requested her to autograph my pictures taken with her at Prudential and at Allentown and my 2 CDs. She was so accommodating and while she was signing them, I can’t help but shower her with praises of how we all love her and that I promised her I will be attending her very first solo concert anywhere in the continental US. I assured her that I will be with her in her journey wherever it takes her. But where else but TO THE TOP!
Many of the crowd in the stands started congregating in front of the stage as the last bars of ANG played signaling that Charice is on. Charice came out in a very becoming outfit of black printed shirt under a black vest and white shorts revealing those knockout legs of a grown up lady and opened up with “I Love You” to a now ecstatic crowd clicking their cameras and videos.
I saw Angelia waving her poster with Charice pictures on it swaying with gusto and complete abandon.
She then did a little monologue of thanking her fans even saying ‘Mahal Kita’ (I Love You) and dedicating her next number “Reset” to everyone but especially to her ‘Kababayans’ (country men) to the delight of the mostly Filipino crowd especially with the Tagalog [Filipino language] rap.
She did a little sexy hip grind doing a 180 that made me think again that our princess is a little girl no more – no longer a duckling but a beautiful swan, God-gifted with that beautiful voice. She performed a little Michael Jackson tribute in honor of MJ’s birthday followed by the rendering of her soulful performance of her signature “In This Song.”
Pyramid was the final number when she decided to walk down the stage and kind of mingle with the crowd just behind the protective barrier. A little pandemonium broke out as the crowd charged to get in front. Unfortunately, Charice is so tiny that probably only a few were able to see her as she disappeared into a tunnel under the stage. And suddenly, Charice is gone and the crowd started to disperse.
As I am driving back in the now congested NJ Turnpike, I reminisced about my time with Charice. The long journey of the poor little girl from Laguna to her current status of being looked up as a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment world. And the girl has not changed. She is the same humble, polite, unassuming model for our children/grandchildren to follow. The girl although now wearing silver slippers, still has her feet firmly planted on the ground. The beauty of it all is that the best parts of her story are still to be written.
All those days of meeting Charice at Pru, Allentown, and Macy’s Six Flags TOPS THEM ALL! LAfan, it was truly AN-BEE-LEE-BA-BLEEE!
