July 31 – Charice performed on a sunny afternoon in Los Angeles, California, at the Grammy Block Party fundraiser to benefit the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief fund. Charice performed three songs: Pyramid, In This Song and Reset. She was accompanied by Rickey Minor and his band, the Music Director not only for GBP but also the Tonight Show, American Idol and past Grammy Show productions. Check back for updates.
In the meantime, here’s a link to the livestream at 4:07PM this afternoon that was recorded by disconnectED >>> LIVESTREAM LINK

Just got back from the Grammy Meet and Greet… so many emotions and thoughts running through my head, but I will try to be as BRIEF as possible and hit the highlights of this amazing day
:
Arrived at the Grammy event and the CM team was there in full force welcoming the Chasters, and we got our exclusive ‘meet and greet’ passes. The concert was held in an outdoor courtyard setting, and it was a beautiful day to be outside and get to meet some really awesome Chasters, even some who flew across the country to be here for this special event.
Charice was the 2nd performer, and the crowd was kind of really “L.A” laid back during the 1st performer’s set. Most of the crowd stayed in the back area under the shade, but as soon as we knew Charice was next, all the Chasters flooded the front of the stage area waiting for our princess to arrive. (Note: apparently, the Grammy people restricted the number of ‘non-Academy’ members who were allowed to be admitted, so there may have been a lot of Chasters not able to attend this event).
Charice came out in a stunning white outfit, and she just appeared so cool, calm and confident on stage. She immediately recognized the Chasters in the front with a smile, and replied with a “LABYO” after several Labyos from the Chasters in front. Charice kicked off the set with Pyramid, followed by In This Song and Reset. I was really close up front, and when she kicked off Pyramid, I raised my Pyramid sign, and she looked down and gave me a smile (which of course made my day!)
It was a short set, but the energy level was HIGH, and it was just awesome having a full band back her up. Don’t know if you can see it in the videos, but the band was VERY impressed with Charice throughout the performance (this band is the back-up band for American Idol and Jay Leno), and one of the back-up singers could not stop shaking her head in disbelief as Charice hit her stride.
Charice ended the set with Reset, with a ’shout out’ to the Filipino fans in the audience… I remember being opposed to this whole notion of recognizing only Filipino fans during a concert, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? Being there in person at her concert, it puts things into PERSPECTIVE, and clearly, she’s just thanking her Filipino fans who of course are very dedicated, and using that as a ‘lead-in’ to her Tagalog rap in Reset. I really don’t think it’s a big deal anymore, as no one in the audience who was not Filipino was offended in any way during that comment.
Now on to the meet and greet… if the day ended just there, it would have been enough seeing Charice live. It is just such a different experience hearing her VOICE in person versus hearing it through speakers on a computer. We all lined up in a separate area, and the Grammy people were VERY intense with security, and reiterating over and over how cameras were prohibited, and that the entire meet and greet would be canceled if they spotted someone taking a picture. Wow, pretty intense, but we were all on our best behavior.
Charice came out and as she gave us all a big smile, she kind of slipped on the uneven floor with her killer high heels as she approached us; BUT in her cool way, she just smiled and kind of did a little dance before she sat down which goes to show how she’s just become such a self-confident person and a true professional entertainer.
Now to the good part: The Grammy people there were not only intense in the ‘no photo’ thing, one of them even started off by saying that Charice would not be signing any autographs as well! Now THAT was a surprise since we were all told to bring something for her to sign. But IMMEDIATELY after the lady said that, Charice ‘took charge’ of the situation and said, ‘no, autographs are fine’ and picked up the marker in front of her and asked for the first fan to come up to get their CD signed. It was really COOL seeing our Charice step up, and stand up for her Chasters who were there to see her and get an autograph!
When my turn came, I had rehearsed something short in my head about how we were all so proud of her and to encourage her to keep following her dreams as we would all continue to support her through thick and thin. But when I got up there, of course, I became mesmerized in the moment, and just said ‘hi Charice’, and asked her to sign my CD. But as she was signing it, I collected my thoughts and told her that I knew her dream was to become a lawyer, so I gave her a UCLA Law baseball cap to encourage her to continue to follow her dreams. She gave me a big ‘awwww’, and then thanked me, and I told her it was a real BLESSING to be able to meet her, and then I asked if I could give her a hug, and she of course said yes and stood up and gave me a warm hug. What an AHN–BEE-LEE-BA-BLLLE moment!
Well, I thought the day could not get any better than that, and we left the meet and greet area, and I got to hang out with a few more Chasters afterward. But then, as I was standing in line to get some food that was being provided at the event, I saw Mommy Raquel out of the corner of my eye walking toward the parking lot. Then shortly behind her was Carl, Charice’s brother. I immediately left the food line and kind of stood off at a distance waiting to see if I could spot Charice.
But I kept looking and could not find anyone in that cute white outfit that she wore on stage… that is, until I saw some people walking up to this short little girl in a red outfit with a red baseball cap… I walked over and then realized it was Charice, in a different outfit leaving the event! I met another Chaster who said he got a picture of her, but by then, the Grammy security guards were surrounding Charice and telling us that we could go no further than the metal barriers. So it was over, as we stood by and watched Charice walk to her car… UNTIL I thought to myself that this could be the LAST TIME that I ever get a chance to get a picture of Charice first-hand.
So I built up the courage, and ‘cooly’ walked up to the metal railings, and walked out to the parking lot as if I was going to my car. Then I got closer and closer until I was walking NEXT to Charice’s security guards. As we were all still walking, I said ‘Hi Charice, can I get a picture of you?’ And IMMEDIATELY, someone from her team said no, that they had to go to a different event. So I just fumbled with my phone camera because I have NEVER taken a picture from my phone camera and did not bring my camera to the event b/c we were told not to. As I fumbled around trying to get a quick snapshot of Charice, the most amazing thing happened:
CHARICE herself said, ‘No, it’s fine, come over’, and then she took the phone camera from my hand. I said I didn’t know how to take a picture with it, and she said ‘No problem, I know how to do it’ and then went on to orient the phone to take a picture, then stood next to me, and stretched out her arm, and took a snapshot of us! NOT ONLY THAT, she didn’t just hand the phone back to me and walk off, but she held the camera in her hand until she could verify that the picture came out okay, then she handed the phone back to me! Can you believe that!???
Afterward, I just said ‘thank you’ again, and told her to keep following her dreams and that we would be supporting her all the way, and she smiled and then walked off to her car with her team. That was TWICE in one day that when others tried to shield her away from her fans, Charice herself stood up and was so gracious to sign autographs and even take a picture with a fan.
I had a discussion with another Chaster afterward about how meet and greets like these will become so much rarer once she blows up in America after Glee and her yet to be released next single. And the other Chaster commented that it was even harder now than just a few months earlier to get to talk to Charice during a meet and greet because the ’security’ around her has been ramped up as well as she rises in fame.
You know, even though it’s true that it’ll be harder for us to meet Charice in person and even have a brief chat with her as she grows in popularity, we can all be assured that it ISN’T Charice who is building up the walls around her, but the management team who are there to protect her as her fans grow in number. I know Charice would love to be able to show her appreciation to each and every one of us, but as I found out today, even if others around her try to steer her one way, Charice is always so gracious and humble to thank her fans and do whatever she can to show her appreciation. So I think all us Chasters need to prepare ourselves for the fact that our princess is becoming a mega-superstar, and she won’t be as accessible as she once was… but that is what comes with fame and mega-stardom, and so we will continue to support her in whatever way possible as she continues her journey to the top!
The unforgettable day was capped off with an awesome dinner with fellow Chasters, and the sense of community among a group of strangers who were bound by our love and appreciation of Charice was just a beautiful thing to experience. I soon found out that there were Chasters out there (i.e. UCLA_UST!) whose Chaddiction far exceeded my own self-perceived crazy levels. But it was a wonderful time together fellowshipping with others who shared the same bond, and I just wanted to thank Team Charicemania (especially drtp and Eve) for putting together this amazing event! This was a day that this Chaster will NEVER forget! LABYO Charice!

Independence Day at Pomona, California about two years ago. I bought her first PI CD titled Charice and when I was in line to get the autograph, the lady who came from nowhere started accusing me of cutting the line. I said I have no idea where you’re coming from but I will not give up my space.
Back then Charice was just starting her music career and it was very easy to get autograph, talk to her and Mommy Raqz, hug her and give her a kiss. Lately, because of her popularity, as expected, more body guards are deployed to protect her. Warner Bros. and her Team are just doing the normal protocol in dealing with her fans. Charice is one Star they would like to protect because they have invested financially on her career. That’s why I had to get lots of her autograph and pictures back then because I knew one of this day the closest we’ll see Charice will be on stage or You Tube. Happy to see more non-Filipino Chasters in the future…Cheers !

The CM cap was given to the volunteers and to you OronaManuel in recognition of the 1200 mile trek that you drove just to see Charice! That is at least 18 hours straight, probably more if you take naps along the way! I’m glad you were able to get it autographed and the first one at that! We have another big Mexican fan “Trust” who is always in the chatbox and I’m sure many more from Mexico. As her “first” Mexican fan, does that mean you discovered Charice since the StarKing video? or Ellen show? Anyway, thank you for sharing your story. We’re happy to hear from you!

Anyhow, I have uploaded pics I took of Charice during her performance at the Grammy Block Party to an album on Facebook. I currently have my privacy settings set to allow everyone to view the pics, but I will be restricting access to the album soon since I like to maintain some level of privacy online. I would love for all you Chaster fans to view the pics I took and leave your comments, so here’s the link:

Is that Lianah in one of the pictures??? How come no one has told a story about her meeting charice here? Lianah is one of Charice’s biggest fans and Lianah is a very good singer too. It would be very interesting to know what happened when Lianah met Charice in this event. Does Charice know about Lianah?
Man… Charice looks oh so hot in image 25….. Sizzling’ hot.

Btw, she looks fantastic in white. Sure would like to see some more singles come from her album – especially In This Song. Personally, I think there’s a lot of potential in this cd and it’s only been 2 and a half months, so I would like to see Charice stay the course for a little bit longer. Just my opinion.

great spot you had there SoRhea! I liked that we could see the back-up singers from your angle. I loved their back-up to RESET. It was hard to decide but ultimately I think you had the best combination of sound and angle and clarity of the picture. What kind of camera do you have? I wish I could have been there.

I hope and pray for her success and that she will always keep her feet on the ground.
CHA my advice is don’t ever change with your attitude towards your fans, the underprevelege people in every way you can.
Show the world you are still the same CHARICE (caring)and OPRAH is the pattern that you always go by.
