ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Kris Aquino disclosed here on Monday that it would be the Philippines’ international singing sensation Charice Pempengco who will sing the national anthem during her brother President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s inauguration on June 30.
Kris made this announcement after saying last week that the task of singing the national anthem during the inauguration was a toss-up between “Journey” lead vocalist Arnel Pineda and Charice.
Kris and elder sister Viel Aquino-Dee were in town to thank Zamboangeños for the support they gave their brother in the last elections.
They also came to Zamboanga to distribute school supplies to nearly 200 special children in 2 public schools Monday morning.
Viel also said they are expected to announce the complete list of Cabinet secretaries before the week ends.
Children from Sta. Maria Central School thanked the Aquino sisters for finding time to visit them. They also wrote a letter intended for the president-elect.
In the letter, they expressed their dreams and expectations from the new president, from fixing their broken arm chairs to giving their parents jobs.

All the singers at Manny’s bouts have been sanctioned and/or fined. The last performer was Arnel who actually went flat on his added high note.

They both deserve the honor of being able to “usher in” THE NEW ERA in Philippine History where (hopefully) the son of two dedicated Philippine national heroes Benigno JR. and Corazon Aquino, shall make the difference this time and shall turn the country around. Where equality shall guide justice; opportunities and resource support from the national as well as the local levels of government shall be disbursed to the best interest of the whole, not just for a favored few. Hopefully this time, this chosen leader shall effectively lead, efficiently serve and conscientiously ensure that he and those who serve the people with him do not plunder but initiate and nourish growth of opportunities and resources and make them available to all. How I wish that this time, he shall be the one to change, bring hope, and a brighter future for the Filipinos.
As Charice and a few other outstanding young people, dedicated and true to their causes like Penaflorida, by example have shown that there is a way, the right way to go about things. And that there is still hope for the country and if only each and everyone did what was right, what he or she was supposed to do, these dreams and goals can be accomplished. Even if it has to be one step at a time. It shall be achieved, and dreams shall be realized and the less fortunate shall be able to overcome the odds of poverty and hardship. If everyone, starting from the top, has a change of heart, there is still hope that the Philippines can be a great and beautiful nation.
