Charice – The Rising Pop Star In US

Pop star, Charice Pempengco better known as Charice who launched her 1st international album on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ is rocking the world with her 2nd international single, ‘Pyramid’. The singer’s latest single has already reached on top in Billboard dance/club play chart.

But, Charice is trying to keep it low and also shies away from the fact that she might soon become the first Asian top pop star in the United States.

Charice quoted, “It’s really hard to go international, so that’s why I’m not expecting it right now. I love the record, but I don’t know if it will go far.”

Charice, 18 claimed that if she becomes the top pop star in US then it will not only be a privilege but also a responsibility for her.

The singer said, “It will not only be a ‘really big privilege for me’ but a ‘big responsibility’ as well. It would show that Asians are really talented and can make it everywhere.”

The ‘Always You’ hitmaker also revealed that she was surprised to see that many Americans were shocked with her huge voice. The singer added that in her place, Philippines it is not a big deal to have a huge voice as there are many talented singers.

Charice, said, “It’s not such a big deal because there are a lot of little people there and a lot of them have big voices.”

“It feels weird to me that people are so surprised. But I do think, it’s one of the reasons I made it,” she explained.

CHARICE is probably the reincarnation of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, based on my observations as follows:
    1) remember before Michael died, he invited Charice to his Concert in London, to perform with him, ‘Billie Jean’
    2) then here is David Foster, likened Charice to Michael Jackson, and he said, “she is truly the master of her own destiny”, “being a great singer is not enough, and she has the entire package”. Like Michael Jackson genius in his head.
    3) Charice’ voice is like Michael when he was a child, with a very high notes. Charice favorite singer is Michael Jackson. She knows most of the songs of Michael, if not all.
    4) And in New York Post, Charice was labeled as the New Pop Princess.
And more and more great happenings, like Charice upcoming World Tour. Oh my goodness. Thanks, Charice you conquer music world.

I posted a reply to ArrVee’s comment on responsibility yesterday but I guess the website had some trouble.

Charice aptly situated her fame: a privilege and a responsibility. She is now carrying the good reputation of Asian artists as a singer. But more than that, by her decision to be the ambassador of Smile, to collaborate with Agassi and Ali on their charities, to perform for Big Brother Big Sister with Lisa and a children hospital in Florida, to sponsor students who wish to go to school, and celebrate her birthday with orphans, Chasters see what a gem they have in Charice.

She is using her fame to show Chasters and others the decisions that will make this world a better place. We can show our support by seeking to broaden the reach of her music and her story of hope. I outlined a proposal on Charicemusic.com and invited Chasters in Batangas and Laguna to meet in Lipa City on June 22, Chasters in San Diego, CA, on July 4, Chasters in Tokyo, on August 1, and Chasters in Okinawa on June 12. Hope you can join us.

i would like to add that she is a personal hero to many of us, including myself. I don’t want to add that as a responsibility that she might feel like taking on her shoulders, but want to state that she has done her job of inspiring me, and I will take it from there and not demand any more from her (but she has a way of always surprising us). I only wish the best for her.

she had me at Madison Square Garden, and I always hark back to that moment by viewing those old videos.

as in Casablanca, I’d say, “We’ll always have Madison” …

What a surprise! I posted a comment yesterday and it didn´t appear! So here it is again:

Did you guys notice the source link of this news? India-Server.com! Imagine if Charice will be famous in India? I wish they would feature her in a Bollywood movie….ok let me dream!

@schoen, ha ha you can dream as much as you want coz it is free! But you are right, in a “dream” it all started for our little Charice. I dreamt of the same stuff, China and India are the two countries that will spell the difference in terms of size that is. If you conquer these two countries and their constituents, it will be hard to beat Charice’s numbers in sales. She will be setting a new world record that even the Guiness book will not know what just hit them. Ok, I just exaggerated the last part, but you know what I meant.

i like her remark about the correspondingly great responsibility that comes with great privileges – this is a very mature outlook in life, no doubt shaped by her mom.

she always is conservative and humble in stating her goals, yet works very hard behind the scenes to make these things happen.

just like she always says she is nervous before many a performance, then casually proceeds to nail it, blow the roof off and the audience as well, she has a way of just soldiering on and overcoming any obstacle in her path, inspite of the way she downplays her capabilities.

She is a juggernaut in stealth, camouflaged by her petite frame and sweet demeanor. One only gets a hint of this when one sees the who’s-who list of people who are backing her. And when one hears her perform live, no explanation is necessary, except in answer to the usual question of why one has come to know of her just now.

charice is smart. she knows it is hard to penetrate the US and what she’s doing is something that is going to be challenging. her management is doing the best they can and I’m happy for that. i’m just so proud how she keeps this attitude and not going big-headed. she knows her limits and she knows what challenges are there to face.

    keep it up girl!

      Sally,

Yes I truly believe so, never had a doubt! She has the right people behind her. We know that talent alone is not a guarantee for success. And Charice is now ready to conquer the world! If she makes it in the US, I´m so excited that Europe will follow!

I Love the fact that Charice always try to highlight her fellow Asian singers, “there are lots of good singers too from where I come from” It shows her humility and generousity of spirit. It is not suprising that with her attitude she has endeared herself to her fellow singers. I hope her countrymen will support her in this because it will open huge doors for them too.

That’s what you call creating a buzz. The line between journalism and marketing is blurred with this kind of write-ups. They do this for most artists… press releases for cds, movies, books, etc. Let’s not be naive and think that the “journalists” found out by themselves.

The point is, is have the most people find out about Charice, and have tem (hopefully) get hooked by having the work speak for itself.

Youtube is still a good avenue as people can search her there and find out that she really sounds good live.
