International pop singer, Charice Pempengco scaled to new heights in her international career as her single “Pyramid” shot to No. 1 this week on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart, overtaking “Rude Boy” by Rihanna. Despite the fact that Charice’s music barely gets heard on urban radio, “Pyramid,” one of 14 tracks from Charice’s self-titled US debut album which hits record stores today, has spent 11 weeks in the Billboard chart, where it was at No. 4 last week and No. 2 a few days ago. Written by a Swedish record production team Charice’s song, “Pyramid” is a very impressive urban pop tune which also features R&B singer Iyaz from the Virgin Islands. Charice formally launches her album with a guest appearance on the “Oprah Winfrey Show.” This marks her fourth guest stint on the highest-rated and longest-running daytime television talk show in America. Is urban-radio missing out on good music, or is Charice another corporate clone being shoved down our throats

This is what pure, undeniable talent, and honest hard work can do.
The words “You’re gonna love me” in her song in Star King and Ellen’s show were either prophetic, or were fire-branded into our hearts and minds alongside her name, while our jaws were wide open.
