7 May 2010 – New York, NY – Filipino singing sensation Charice whose highly anticipated self titled CD is scheduled for release on May 11th on 143/Reprise Records has expressed her profound gratitude to the people of the Philippines for their belief in her and has promised to make them proud.

Charice who already has a No. 1 single on the Billboard Dance charts with the song “Pyramid” which is being played on over 100 US radio stations – is expected to appear on The Oprah Winfrey’s Show (4 pm EST) on the day of release. She is also scheduled to appear on QVC that evening where she will debut songs from her new album and discuss her inspirations. She will be joined by 15 time Grammy winning producer and songwriter David Foster who along with Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres learned about Charice like millions of her fans when they saw her on YouTube. After an initial appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show three years ago, Charice went on to appear three times on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Charice has also performed with Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli and was a special guest on the Foster & Friends Concert Tour last year.

Scheduled to celebrate her 18th birthday on May 10th, the day before the CD is released, Charice had the following message to deliver to the global Filipino community around the world.

“I am so proud to be a Filipino. I want to thank all the Filipino fans for supporting and believing in me from the very beginning. Anywhere in the world that I have performed, they are always there to show me how they care about me. Sometimes they come to me with tears in their eyes. All I want to do is to make them happy. I feel that I represent all of them when I sing so I want to be perfect. I cannot express how honored I am to have their love and support… I have been given this opportunity by God and it is more than I ever dreamt would be possible,” stated Charice. “There is not a day when I don’t remember where I came from and I may travel the globe but in my heart and in my soul, I will always be a proud girl from the Philippines. I love my people,” she concluded.

A native of San Pedro Laguna, Charice was discovered singing “Happy Birthday” on top of a table in her home by her mother Raquel, also a singer, when she was four years old. In the years that followed, Charice entered several singing contests to help support her family. One of her fans submitted a clip to YouTube where she has received well over 30 million hits.
