Booker Interviews Charice At AMP Studios!

Booker Interviews Charice At AMP Studios!

We’ve read all your comments on what you think about Charice’s song “Pyramid” ft. Iyaz, and we’re getting a lot of requests to play it on AMP.  Charice was in our studios with Booker talking about her new rise to fame.

Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco is the 17-year-old singing sensation from the Philippines discovered by David “The Hit Man” Foster.  She started singing when she was 7 when her mother, also a singer, discovered her talent.  Her mother acted as her vocal coach helping Charice win many local singing competitions including “Little Big Star,” similar to American Idol.

She started getting national attention when she appeared on Ellen and Oprah, instantly making her an international celebrity.  Her current single “Pyramid” features Iyaz and is increasing in popularity among AMP listeners.

its not important to be fluent. why is it that in beauty contests finalists are required translators. the same is true for showbiz they are not different. i think talent is the most understandable universal language. charice english made her more lovable and cute. i admire her english in fact. who would have thought that she came from a very humble school in barangay gulod where english is not regularly spoken. she is a whiz kid when given the context where she came from. her english made her very filipino. i dont want to take that from her. she is lovely as she is.

Not to be critical of Charice’s communication skills in English, I would like to agree with a few people here who have suggested that perhaps it would be a good idea if Charice would seriously consider spending more time or perhaps stay in the US say even for just one straight year, for her to be able to acquire the language quicker and easier, through school and verbal communications with people. I know for sure that if she stays in the US for even just a year, considering that she is young and smart, she could easily catch up and get even better in no time. i know a lot of young Filipinos of her age who migrated and lived in the US have learned the language really quick. Amazingly they could speak the language so fluently just like everyone. This is just a suggestion and i know all of us here just wants the best for Charice’s future in her career in the US. Let’s just take all these suggestions and ideas positively and work together for Charice. After all, we are her fans, we all Chasters!

People are sharing thoughts on how Charice converses in English, well of course, she’s not that colloquial compared to her native tongue, but that’s not the point. The point is getting her new song played on air has to do with a lot of power-marketing behind. Things will not happen by itself. Charice should be grateful for all those people working behind the scenes, and above all, big “O”. I’d think she’s still holding the reins as far as Charice’s career is concerned.

      Camu,

I noticed that those who were very critical of Charice are not Americans. Americans don’t care as long as they understand what you are saying. In fact those people who criticized her especially her English…I wonder if they can even speak English.

What these critical people do, they brag, take credit for the work of others, expect favors but give none, never listen, and know what is right and best, regardless of the topic.

Psychology says that they are the most difficult people to deal with. They criticize because they don’t have, so in order to be seen, they have to be mean.

You’re damn right CAMO, finally someone’s talking sense here. These people that critisizing her english so much doesn’t realize that it’ll take some time for her to be fluent in that language. They also have to take in consideration that it’s not easy to be interviewed using a foreign language in front of national TV and radio station, I bet it is nervous wracking for her to do that. She was born, raised and lived all her life back in the Philippines and was very poor, below poverty level, so back off people.

By the way, I do not know Leona Lewis. I have not heard her. I only watched Charice on YouTube. I do not have time for others. I am working right now but at the same time charicemania is open and I always read the conversation in the chatroom because they always give links where to go and Charice fans always give updates.

Hey you guys, the nikki in the chatroom at 10:09 is not me. I only went to the chatroom once a long long time ago. I visit Charicemania everyday to get updates about Charice but I don’t write messages as often as others. I am here on the sideline.

Anyways, I have not pre-ordered yet, I might do it later today because I am doing headcounts right now.

    More power Charicemania!

    More blessings to Charice!

    Hello,everyone.
Let me remind those who want Charice to speak perfect English that she is not taking a “test”, so don’t be her teacher. It’s fine for her not to be fluent…yet. As what the other Chasters are saying she’ll do it in time. What is important is she speaks from the heart and she makes sense. But if you’ve been listening to her you would notice her progress.Children learn a new language fast and I think Charice still belongs to that category although she is about to turn 18. Just let her be. She is enjoying her life now. Be happy for her. She’s intelligent, loves to be with people and talks a lot as per David F.’s comment once.

Charice, you can do it. You are almost there. BTW, I enjoyed listening to your interview. You are a beautiful person!

Yeah..i agree..it’ll be better if she’ll be sorrounded by americans so that she can improve her english skills..practice is always the key..so if she speaks the language everyday, she’ll really improve fast..it may be good for her to stay in the US for a while to get used to the language rather than here in the Phil (although we’re going to miss her A LOT)..i think it’s for her own good..this is not the only interview, there are a lot more to come, so she better learn and study the language more..interviews have normally big impact to the viewers as per experience..well, that’s just me..BUT IN GENERAL,way to go CHARICE!!! :D

I am a huge Charice’s fan but this interview is not the best i’ve heard from her. Charice’s management should coach her how to answer questions during the interview because millions of people will be watching and listening to her. Just try to make it short and straight to the point rather than too wordy addressing the same question.

I agree with you… Charice needs to improve her interview answering skills. – You are right, she needs to make it short and precise, without elaborating details (if not needed). Though I understand that it wont come easily and its not gonna happen overnight but with Charice’s capability to learn fast, it is not hard for her to do. Considering it’s not her mother tongue and being able to speak how she does now is a very good accomplishment for her. She has improved a lot. Lets wait for next interviews and I’m sure it will get better and better.:)

It’s good to hear that Charice is getting interviewed by radio personality although she struggled a bit with her answer. I just hope that she stay longer in the US so that she can polish her communication skill especially talking on the radio live. This will take time but she’ll pick up quickly if she’s surrounded herself with English speaking people.
