Charice is known all around the globe. Filipino media call her ”The international singing sensation”. However, Charice’s fans, wherever they live, are mostly of Filipino origin, and it is in this community of overseas Filipinos that she is really well-known.
In many countries she has so far got limited exposure. In Norway, where I live, I have seen Charice mentioned in news media once, but never in Sweden, my native country. In both countries there are bloggers, often young people, who have found Charice on Youtube and want to share there experiences with their readers. But, in general, they have a limited readership.
Recently, I found a blog entry which might indicate a change. It is by Charlotte Perrelli, a well-known Swedish singer, now in her middle 30’s. She is known internationally as the winner of the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest under her maiden name, Charlotte Nilsson. Again in 2008 she represented her country, both times after winning the qualifying Swedish competition ”Melodifestivalen”.
Here is Charlotte in her winning entry from 1999:
Charlotte Perrelli’s blog appears here
It is published by Chic, a biweekly print magazine about shopping, gossip, fashion and the like. As you can see, it is in Swedish. I have therefore translated it into English: First the presentation of its author:
Charlotte Perrelli is one of Sweden’s most closely watched and beloved artists. In her blog “In my view,” you can follow her behind the stage and behind the headlines. Learn how she manages to combine her hectic artist life with being an ordinary mother of two with a passion for baking buns and rolls in 5 inches high heels …
and then Charlotte Perrelli’s own text:
Check this clip, after a while the little *cruel girl enters, and suddenly Destiny’s Child fades… at least in my eyes. If you have not already discovered Charice Pempengco this is the time to do so …
My god! What will become of this little girl? Today she is older, but googling on her name, she has sung with Celine Dion at a concert and I just want to cry! I hardly think that’s true, where does her voice come from? I’ve found a new idol to worship.
Sure, it is all fantastic.

OMIE,
Maybe I’m over looking it, but I do not see any way to comment in Charlotte’s blog. I and a lot of Chasters, I’m sure, would like to thank her and invite her to visit us here at Charicemania.
Can you give us a link or email address where we can express ourselves to her for our appreciation?
There is no way to comment in Charlotte’s blog. The addresses that I have are from her Swedish-language website
http://www.charlotteperrelli.com:
info@charlotteperrelli.com
info@stockhouse.se
Both are to her agent.

I’ve heard the youtube postings of pyramid – even if it is not the actual single yet – it sounds marvelous. I am waiting patiently:) The album would be Number ONE and the PYRAMID single will be on TOP of the billboards!
I agree that negative, provocative and unnecessary ramblings should be deleted and not posted in the first place – not on Charicemania Website.
True Chasters try to emulate good behavior like of their idol Charice. She has never maligned anyone, never a word of hatred or jealousy came out of her mouth, so we should follow her good example. Spread love and peace through good music.

there were 5 of us on the table, 3 are prc chinese, until one of them got curious and asked what are we talking about, so this local who continue to rant told him in mandarin. that caught the attention of the other 2 prc chinese on our table. to my surprise, they all know of charice!!!!!! and from what little mandarin i can understand, they are describing how they felt when they heard her on you.ku.com.
can you imagine, 5 grown men, 1 filipino, 1 singaporean, and 3 prc talking about charice over dinner?????
oh, are we not talking about ‘international’ here??? or at least asian????

CHARICE is one of God’s marvelous creation and offering to us especially to the Performing Arts.
She is a singer who I feel has everything within her.
Her feelings and experiences come out from every note that she delivers in her music…”her very life.”
Come what may, she is now living in her dreams–awake!

I will promise you this – we will report Pyramid’s release in big headlines as soon as we know something. So just chill till you see that headline. Don’t read any of our other articles that you don’t appreciate anyway, and don’t make inane comments that none of us appreciate likewise.
I’m sure Charice’s management is doing all they can to work out the tricky details of Pyramid’s release. And I’ll bet Charice is even more disappointed than we are. She has worked so, so hard with DF over many months, I have no doubt this is a major disappointment to her, maybe even worse than getting cut out of Little Big Star. So please give her the benefit of the doubt. Charice needs our support now more than ever, when Pyramid does get released, to go out and buy it! Buy several – we all agree that it has HIT SONG potential written all over it. It’s worth waiting for. She has come so far, we can wait a little while longer with her and for her. She does not need whining, backbiting fans who are ready to criticize at the first setback. This is real life, things don’t always go as planned.
Now if you want to say something intelligent or constructive, maybe we’ll allow you to continue commenting here. Otherwise, we will moderate it so as not to subject our readers to further sarcastic, irrelevant remarks from you. Readers agreed with you in a previous comment when you said that not all negative comments are bad. But you’ve crossed the line past negative with this one.

To my knowledge Charice has only performed “Hanggang” in public once – at Wowowee in January 2009. It has been one of my absolute Charice favorites since I first heard it. When Charice goes on her World Tour she has to include it – in Tagalog – for us non-Filipinos.
