Charicemania.com is a non-profit volunteer fan web site dedicated to promoting Charice Pempengco’s international entertainment career. Charicemania is entirely staffed by volunteers, and is privately owned and managed. The web site publishes both original and copyrighted articles and editorials.
Charicemania utilizes print, audio and video media to showcase Charice’s talent and provide entertainment for her fans. Editorials and opinions also are published based on articles’ worthiness as determined by the staff.
Data is provided for this analysis by Google Analytics.
Chart I – Total Site Visits:
Chart One is a chart visualizing the total number of visits. It should be noted that traffic increased by 350% 2009 over 2008. See the notes on the chart for explanations of the spikes in visits in May and October 2009.

Chart II – New Visits as Percentage:
Chart Two below represents the percentage of new web site visits by month for 2009. Only one in five visitors is viewing Charicemania.com for the first time. The 80% retention rate (4 of 5 visitors) is a direct reflection of maintaining viewer interest loyalty. Charicemania’s home page was designed to offer a quick summary of articles and features so viewers can quickly concentrate on whatever interests them for further viewing. Obtaining and posting fresh articles and videos is a major goal to maintain viewer interest. Additionally, the chat room, which is a separate site from Charicemania provides fans with entertainment through a Charicemania.com portal.

Chart III – Site Visits by Country:
The analysis further breaks down site visits by country of origin. This chart is presented to assist in determining where fans are located. However, there are approximately 10 million Overseas Filipinos (people of Filipino ancestry who are citizens or residents of a different country) worldwide. The distinction between Filipino fans and other races cannot be determined from available data. Consequently, the large percentage of non-Filipino fans in the United States would probably be about equal to Filipino fans, and marketing assumptions should take this into consideration. Chart Three depicts the top ten countries in terms of percentage of market share.

Chart IV – Site Visits by State:
Chart Four represents the percentage of site visits of the top ten states in the United States. It should be noted for marketing purposes that California, New York, and Texas account for nearly three quarters of visitor traffic in the U.S. The percentages closely parallel the states in which Charice has made appearances. Thus it can be concluded that personal appearances are a driver for Charicemania’s first time web site visits.

Chart V – Site Visitor Loyalty:
The fifth chart details how many visits the average fan makes. The interesting aspect of this chart is that only 29 percent of visits are from 2 to 25 visits. Loyalty rises rapidly once a visitor has returned more than 25 times. New visits account for 23% of total visits. Consequently, the data suggests the strategy to keep visitors loyal is to provide quality and timely articles, and to offer entertainment that brings visitors back frequently.

Hats off to Charicemania staff! U r tuly real chasters. Ur up-to-date articles are very informative. I’m one of those who regularly visit the site. My date isn’t complete without visiting ur site and in fact i check in more than once in a day to see if there’s something coming in. I also read all the comments though i seldom make one. He-he! A very interesting report by Max. The natural question is who are the visitors to Charicemania. Both Max and Eve try to correlate visitor statistics with places where Charice has performed. I will take a different approach.
My first guess is that visitors are similar to commenters. Max and Jimfan155 are the only two on the list of top commenters who I know are not of Filipino origin, and I believe that Max is the only non-Filipino on the CM staff. When Charice performs for the general public in North America you can see that a large part of the audience is Filipino. They don’t come to hear David Foster and his other friends. They come to hear Charice.
It is difficult to find out how many Filipinos live in Texas. Apparently there were enough of them for Willie Revillame to take his Wowowee show there in December 2008. That show is only intended for Filipinos. Others won’t understand the language.
It is a real dilemma how to make Charice known outside the worldwide Filipino community. It is for them she is “the
international singing sensation” because they are in many different countries. Ordinary Americans may never have heard of her. Oprah is a strong supporter, but Oprah appears on the screen when most Americans are not yet home from work.
There is thus a long way to go before Charice’s career really takes off. Charicemania may help in that but it has the same limitation – so far it mainly reaches Filipinos. I don’t offer a solution. I am just glad that it has also reached me.

That is a very astute observation. Team Charicemania has been debating how we can involve more fans from America, Europe, and other countries.
Hopefully, airplay from her new songs that will soon be released are one way for all Chasters to involve more potential new fans. Request these songs from radio stations as they are released. Radio stations usually receive advance copies of new releases.
Admin has created a very simple way for us to promote Charice’s new songs. I hope everyone will visit this article and learn how easy it is to request her songs. Radio stations will not ignore requests unless they suspect it is spamming.

Way to go Charicemania site! Although not anymore so active in the chatroom for the last 3 months, i still visit the site time and again. CM gave me the oppurtunity to have friends from all over the world who love charice and her music. CM introduced me to the vibrant Fil. culture. CM excites me always to read the latest on charice´s life and career…because of this site i learned how to twitter, youtube, and facebook, and of course to make avatar. Thank you so much CM team : )

Max, I LOVE it, couldn’t have done it better myself and what a wonderful analysis to go in tandem with Charicemania’s second anniversary celebration. In your Chart-1, I would note also that Sept 2008 was Charice’s duet with Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden, hence the dramatic spike in Site Visits doubled! from 30-40,000 to close to 100,000 in just one month, and it has been going north ever since.
Regarding Site Visits by Country, with just over half being the United States would seem to confirm that Charice’s international appeal is stronger than in her own country. In fact, the video uploader of Charice’s ‘McHappy Run’ event in the Philippines was surprised that his video got so many positive comments and views apparently from abroad. I quote, from his blog: “I was really amazed that after I uploaded this video in Youtube, there are lot of positive comments and I have a lot of followers even without advertising it. This young lady really had a large fan base all over the world.” >>SEE kahit ano ito’s blog
California as the Top State is no surprise since that is Charice’s “home base” in the USA and she has made many appearances there with David Foster. However, Texas as the 2nd Top State is a surprise over New York – it would be interesting to track perhaps if this had anything to do with Charice’s fundraising gala appearance there recently? I would agree with your conclusion that Charice’s personal appearances are a very important driver not just of traffic to CM but increased YouTube viewership and exponential increase in fans, as we have seen in Italy and now Singapore.
Finally, I’m happy to learn that 75% of the 210,000+ Site Visits to CM are returning visitors month by month, with the last two bars on Chart-V showing that 25% (1 out of 4) come to view CM pages at least 100-200X per month, an average of 3-7 times a day or more. I admit I am one of them, my viewership helps to make up the 3% visits from the beautiful state of Washington. (^_^)
