Introduction by hosts: “On this morning’s Second Cup Cafe, more incredible music from David Foster. This time, David is joined by Charice, the 17-year old prodigy Oprah Winfrey calls the most talented girl in the world. And she’s got her finger on the pulse there. Downright amazing, here they are performing a holiday classic, The Christmas Song…”

Second Cup Cafe: David Foster & Friends
(CBS) David Foster has worked with the biggest and best talents in the music industry, his track record speaks for itself, and many consider him a legend. The 15-time Grammy Award winner, including three for Producer of the Year, has an unprecedented 44 nominations to his credit.
David Foster and Friends, which includes vocal powerhouse Charice and the Canadian Tenors stopped by “The Early Show Saturday Edition”‘s Second Cup Cafe to perform Christmas favorites. Foster performed “Silent Night” with the Canadian Tenors, “The Christmas Song” with Charice and a medley of “O Holy Night/Jingle Bells” with critically-acclaimed violinist David Garrett.
His past collaborations have included musical icons Neil Sedaka, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Anka, Diana Ross, George Harrison, Dolly Parton, Sonny & Cher, Rod Stewart and more recently, Seal.
Foster has also helped catapult the careers of Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli, Chicago, Michael Bublé, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, N’Sync, The Corrs, Natalie Cole, Kenny Loggins, Kenny Rogers, Chaka Khan, The Tubes, All 4 One, Michael Bolton and Brandy, among many others.
Charice:
It’s been quite a successful year for the young 17-year-old vocal powerhouse. She won the “Best Oprah Show Musical Performance 2009″ and starred in her first film, “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.”
Born and raised in the Philippines, Charice started singing when she was just four years old. Her mother, also a singer, noticed that Charice’s version of “Happy Birthday” was different then the rest of the children. Charice went on to perform for local talent contests in the Philippines and won the hearts of many.
In 2007, Charice became an Internet sensation when her performances were posted onto YouTube by one of her fans and then broadcast on a Filipino talent show. The buzz reached over to Ellen DeGeneres and then she got Oprah Winfrey’s seal of approval.
“You are a force to be reckoned with,” Winfrey told Charice. “That voice comes from something bigger than yourself. You’re pulling it up out of some place deeper than your little body.”
David Garrett:
Critically-acclaimed violinist David Garrett is a 27-year-old German-born musician and already a superstar in Asia and Europe. His rock star appeal is starting to catch on here in the U.S., thanks to his self-titled new album, “David Garrett.”
Garrett stopped by the The Early Show Saturday Edition‘s “Second Cup Cafe” to perform the Michael Jackson classic, “Smooth Criminal.”
Born to an American mother and a German father, Garrett became a child prodigy when he was only 4. His extraordinary talent was embraced as he began to perform for the public at age seven. He went on to study the violin at the Lubeck Conservatoire and, at the age of 12, was learning from a highly-skilled mentor, Polish violinist Ida Haendel.
His self-titled album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover Chart and Current Classical Overall Chart.

The others I know are a year older, sound and look as feminine as this one but have different voices and come from the Philippines: The heart-broken one, the resolute one, the defiant one, the desperate one, and the just lovely one who sings and raps in a language that I don’t understand. Jimfan155, you are right. Charice is a true cha-meleon.

I’m with you daddy ron. Best rendition I have ever heard, also. Just makes me feel like she could have made a complete Christmas album of classics that would help propel her sales of her up and coming international album.
Of course I’m naive about the music industry and how hard it is to put a cd together, and I’m a little selfish, but when it comes to Charice – to me she can do anything when it comes to singing. Ok, ok, I’ll wait a little longer. (Come on – are we there yet? Please?)

I look forward to her album already…the anticipation is reaching it’s cresciendo. I wonder if the album will be out before her concert. That would be great because her popularity would carry over to her ticket sales. Her single is coming out so that should help.
I love Reset, I heard part of it in the YT Video of Blogtv Live, and I think its really bold to put a taglish bridge. I figure if they can put Spanish bridge like in Shakira songs and BEP songs without affecting album sales, they can put Taglish bridges for this one.
There’s no reason to worry. I heard songs with Taglish bridges in PI and they sound great…it should be fine.
Anyway, I look forward to these coming days with the single coming out….and this show, and SI.
God Speed!

Correct. It is pre-recorded when she was in America, even before she left for P.I.
