Charice Performed at “Handog ng FASO sa Pasko” Last Dec. 06, 2009

(New Videos Added) Charice performed at “Handog ng FASO sa PASKO” (FASO’s Gift for Christmas) at the Pasadena Civic Center last December 6th, 2009. The benefit show featured the Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra (FASO) performing both English and Tagalog songs with several renowned soloists and a mixed Filipino chorale group and children’s choir. As expected, Charice’s performance was said to be AMAZING! Check out the twitter entries and youtube clips below.

I have enjoyed all of Charices performance in this concert specially the prayer. The guy was really good and hope he will also have the chance to be discovered.. On the other side i would also like to watch the Hallelujah Chorus close up or if the FASO has other performances. I have really enjoyed the Hallelujah chorus, that is one hell of a job to learn and perform. My hats off for the conductor and everyone who participated.. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT PERFORMANCE!

It was an awesome performance again by Charice. Based on my experience, people who watch symphony orchestras are different from the usual concert goers. It is like a more polite audience and not given to screaming during a performance. Charice was included in the list of performers but her number was not in the programme. Which made me wonder: was her invitation a last minute decision? Her songs also were not in synch with the theme, which is about X’mas carols. I was expecting a Christmas song or two. Anyhow, back to the audience, people politely clapped during the performances. My companions and I were 15 rows from the front and we were with “snobbish’ looking seatmates that before Charice’s number, I was already thinking about how these people would react when I start screaming once Charice number was on. At one point, the orchestra teased the audience by playing the intro to the bodyguard medley, and that got everyone’s attention. It stirred up the audience and became restless till Charice did her first number. I did not expect that the audience would go wild for Charice. It was a DF experience again. Everyone, even my seatmates who looked snooty were louder than myself. Then came the prayer, Avendano was really good. I hope he gets discovered in the international scene. The station ID song was great, FASO was really great. It was over all an awesome experience. The Hallelujah song was not part of Charice repertoire, it was I believe a spur of the moment thing with the conductor inviting all the solists on the stage. But it was fun because it gave the audience the chance to see Charice again.

I was expecting Charice will sing a christmas song and not the bodyguard medley. The choir and the orchestra did a superb performance. Manang babes, pinoy in the us really love Charice, in Manila lobo ang makikita mo at hindi si Charice.

I wish to apologize first off, I agree with Jessica86s, her last line
on first paragraph, said it all.
Incidentally, I was just watching “upload version” (you tube) and Jessica went and seen the show itself.

    Here’s her last line.

“But you could tell that Charice is on a different level and no one’s attitude challenged that fact”

    PEACE !!!!

They Prayer was superb – great vid! Charice’ voice is very refined now. I enjoyed chatting with Charice last night livestream in ET and hearing her sing and take all those requests. She sang a Jesse McCartney song a capella, showed off her skills and her range, her great memory bank full of knowledge of songs too… Her voice is smoother ….less rough than before on the high notes. I look forward to buying her album. I got a discman for my mom, which she hasnt opened, so I guess I will be using it.

All I can say is WOW. The first seven comments used up all of the superlatives I had planed to write here, so let me just add a couple of observations. First, this is the first time I can remember when the camera kept rolling to get the crowd reactions. To say that Charice blew the crowd away would be an under statement. Second, Charice’s voice just gets more powerful, stronger, and emotional every time I see her perform.

This was one of the best versions and all my companions commented that they all got the goosebumps. The male vocalist’s voice was outstanding too. I felt like crying but my date was new so I didn’t want him to get embarrassed. haha. The evening was great and there is no doubt that the Filipinos here in the states love, respect and look up to Charice. Undoubtedly, everyone came for Charice. And Robert Shroder the director/conductor and everyone knew it and subtly acknowledged it without unnecessarily making the other performers feel bad, because they were not. They were all very good too. But you could tell that Charice is on a different level and no one’s attitude challenged that fact.

The gratitude expressed to Charice was clearly sincere. Even Joey Albert’s reaction and interaction with Charice, you could tell that she gave Charice much more honor, respect and recognition, more than she expected for herself. One could just sense it in the body language especially in the ending. It was a great evening. My Filipino companions felt the nostalgia of the Christmas spirit because of the Filipino Christmas songs, and of course they got the biggest treat as they were awed by Charice’s live performance. And my American/caucasian date was so smitten that he fumbled and and messed up my whole evening by screwing up the recording and taking of pictures. It was like I had to pick up his lower jaw from the floor a couple of times and slap his head for him to get it right but he was hopelessly smitten and that was the a real bummer. The saving grace for me was being able to watch Charice live and in person again.

      Aw Jessica,

Take it easy on the poor guy. I remember my first “Encounter with the Unbeliveable Kind”, and I can tell you it was a shock I never did get over, hahahahaha. He’s probably still in utopia this morning.

      Hi Jessica.

My only requirement for your future dates is he has to be a Chaster and has to have a steady hand so we can enjoy future Charice videos.

You should have let the tears flow as I’m pretty certain he was also suppressing his emotions. How many people were there? No matter how many times I have heard these songs I am watching with the same enthusiasm as if this was my first time watching her.

Haha, you guys. I was sitting somewhere near the middle of the lodge part of the auditorium. about 4 rows before the railing that would stop you from falling over to the ground floor. I couldn’t let those tears flow because I wasn’t sure if my date had a hankie or tissue at least. When I cry, my nose really runs and that would be real embarrassing. lol. I’d hate to have to wipe my nose all over his jacket. lol. But it was great. really great. Too bad we couldn’t follow to the restaurant to meet and greet Charice. I was waiting for EBj’s confirmation if she had hooked up with Charice via the chat. If she did and told me, I would have thown a tantrum and forced all my companions to go to the restaurant. hehe. Maybe next time.
