Charice singing her own rendition of the song “Halo” from Beyonce at the first ever Mc Happy Day Fun Run last November 30, 2009 at McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. Kids and adults joined the races. They became the first McHappy Day Fun Run Champions and received prizes from McDonald’s.
McHappy Day, formerly known as World Children’s Day, is a global fundraising effort to support various children’s causes. Through the McHappy Day Fun Run, McDonald’s will be able to raise funds in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and its 2 flagship programs, Bright Minds Read (BMR), a program in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) that teaches beginning reading to Grade 1 pupils in public schools all over the country and Bahay Bulilit, a program in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development or DSWD and local government units to build day care centers in communities where children aged 2-5 are taught basic skills and positive values in preparation for their formal schooling.
Charice: Halo
From kahit ano ito’s blog about this event:
Runners from the Mc Happy Fun Run last Sunday was very fortunate as the organizers invited the international Youtube sensation Charice Pempengco. I didn’t know that she sang one of the theme songs for McDonalds together with Ms. Sharon Cuneta. I forgot the title of that song but the message was nice.
The people was really mesmerized from the voice of this young “diva” as they say that the audience requested for another song. Charice was so kind to grant the request of the crowd and further amazed the crowd with her rendition of the song “Halo” as popularized by Beyonce Knowles. I was fortunate to have my Panasonic LX3 with me during that time and I was able to record her entire performance.
I was really amazed that after I uploaded this video in Youtube, there are lot of positive comments and I have a lot of followers even without advertising it. This young lady really had a large fan base all over the world.
After the performance, the crowd still followed her and she was still kind to accommodate the request of the fans. Here are some of the pictures from the event with Charice. (click picture to enlarge it)

Wahhh, I was at the Timex Run where endorser Piolo Pascual was being ogled at by my officemates just two weeks ago. I was thinking, had this celebrity been Charice I would have been shouting “Labyo Labyo!” and none of the runners would have understood me hahaha!
But I love how she’s covering so much ground and subtly, I can feel that she is being slowly appreciated in the country. Before, my friends would scoff at how I pepper all conversations with tidbits about Charice but now, they are the ones who feed me with updates. Yesterday, my officemate asked me if I watched ASAP, because according to her, among all the international singers in the Hero number, it was Charice who got the loudest applause in the Lipad ng Pangarap song.
Talk about 180-degree turns- former skeptics turned adoring fans!
