I am a great fan of Charice. WHile it’s probably true that Charice is more renown in the US than in the PI. She’s only 17 and she just hasn’t had enough exposure, the luxury of great marketing, managing, and perhaps even song choices or song writers in the philippines that she has had here. But I’ve seen she has a great presence to go with the voice adn she hsa the potential to be a great star…. and she will stand the test of time. An example of poor marketing..is her wardrobe in the concert. or the poor choir, or the poor outfits she’d been wearing on the cover of her album…an ugly album cover.. she also could have sang more RNB songs… with the right help she will be a success both in the US and locally.

charice is more appreciated here in the US than in her own country, sad to say… a lot of people are jealous of her success and rather pull her down than give her support that she deserves. better to concentrate her in the US while there are people who is more than willing to help blossom your career…

I’am a filipino but I want Charice not to go back to the Philippines until she is already a big star…Im fully aware that Charice loves Philippines so much but sad to say her fan base her is not really great. seriously, there is more people pulling her down than loving her and that what’s make me ticked off. Crab mentality everyone. There are a lot of crabs in here. Charice should have a better foundation in her career first before going back to philippines for guestings or whatsoever.

So what some are saying, Charice should turn her back on the Philippines, don’t go there until she retires and basically ingore her homeland fans. Hmmmm, something about this equation doesn’t sound right.

First, her dream house, relatives and friends are there.
Second, she has many fans in the Philippines that supported her and are entitled to see and hear her, just like we have.
Third, DF has said he would like to visit the Philippines, so should Charice let him go alone?
Forth, can you imagine the backlash if she said to h__l with them.
Fifth, no one should ever forget their roots, even if the experiences were bad or good. There are obstacles in everyone’s life that they have to overcome to make them a better person. It makes you appreciate what you attain even more.

I would rather have a happy Charice than a homesick Charice. What am I missing here?

      Hahaha Jimfan155,

You’re funny Jinfan155. I like your sense of humor. The shades of sarcasm are tolerable and could be taken without offense, and as a matter of fact, just enough to highlight the more important and sensible truth.

You know, when one reprimands a relative like a sibling, cousin or children, don’t you notice how much more seemingly cruel, vicious or sometimes over kill it’s done compared to reprimanding a non-blood relative? It is probably because one would expect more from a blood relative. I think that is what is happening here. Filipinos casting such extreme actions as reprisal for what they perceive has been or is being dished out to Charice. BTW you are not Filipino correct? If so, then that is the explanation of why you see this kind of reaction and attitude.

        Jimfan155,

Take note of the things they mention. These are all true , be it coincidence or intentional by some conspiracy or whatever. The fact is, there are more detractors over there than here in the US. Or the basic biblical principle (if you can call it that) works against her, “a prophet is recognized except in his own country”. Charice is an extra ordinary and superbly gifted talent, but because she is from the Philippines, “seniority” makes her take a number and wait in line for the other more popular entertainers to have their day and show. They will not admit or accept that Charice is much more talented or deserving of the respect and recognition. But if Charice is successful here in the US and hits the top, thats the only time everyone in the Philippines will recognize and give her the due respect. Just you watch, and it will be the sweetest time for Charice. It already happened in a small scale. But the success of the album as evidenced by the sales figures and chart rankings here in the US shall be the sword that shall make them all bow and kneel. Hehe.

          Hi Jessica86s.

You have me pegged correctly. I try to keep my arguments light and unoffensive. I don’t have the knowledge or the intelligence to make believe I know what is truly going on. I will say my side as I try to look through the eyes of whoever I support. I always try to be positive and will ask for opposing point of views to try to learn things
I may be unaware of. But you must give me facts, as I will not change my opinion based on perception and heresay.

If I’m wrong I will not be ashamed to admit it. And I will not be stubborn or hardheaded that I will not apologize, if need be. I’m to old to carry on a point of view if I know it’s wrong. Don’t have the time or the energy.

Which is why I will support Charice unconditionally. I don’t know the behind the scenes reasons for her decisions nor does she owe me/us any explanations. Being a non-Filipino (American born Chinese) I can only comment on what I see on these videos, what I read in these articles and what I witness on her performances, in person.

As I have mentioned before seeing her live is so much different that seeing her in videos. That’s why I have to take into account the audience reaction as well as the singing. From what I could see this was a different arrangement from what we have seen in the past for “The Prayer”. I agree that she started somewhat subdued and was easily able to turn it up in the later parts. She won’t show up new performers and the audience appeared to love her (standing ovation). So that’s what I saw here.

While not all singers in the Philippines may not agree she’s
the best, I did see support and respect for her in her ASAP 09 performance of OMIT. Especially from Lani M., Sarah Geronimo, and Zsa Zsa.

I look forward to her future and if it takes a little longer and she doesn’t make all the money as quickly as many think because she visits the Philippines rather than move to the US, then I will accept it. Besides at 17 she has a house, a car, an improved life for her family, is able to do charity work and is so far ahead of me at that age (and this age), am I qualified to tell her she’s making the wrong decision? Sorry, but I’m learning from her.

              Jimfan155,

I was a bit confused for a while. hehe. But anyway, I believe that the only point where we seem to disagree is the idea of where Charice spends most of her time and effort (thus incidentally and eventually would translate to resources and timeliness of the release of her album).

There have been many instances, as pointed out by other chasters, which show Charice not really performing at her best. I have seen them and if you take a real close look, you’d see for yourself and wonder why some people, especially her own countrymen, would do such a thing.

I’m talking about the screw ups in sound systems like her microphone, or her minus one accpmpaniment, the changing of the song which she was to perform with others on the last minute and she’d be the only one who hadn’t had sufficient time to rehearse and practice the new song or arrangement, and I could go on and on. But Charice has managed to keep the audience from making fun of her and instead kept them happy and awed despite the mishaps and at times, came through looking even better. If only I had the technical skills to have recorded and saved those videos then, I’d be able to present you this proof.

Finally, it’s sad that this is happening to Charice, at her very young age, and in a very competitive industry (entertainment) where in the Philippines, looks weigh heavier than real talent, though Charice has definitely caught up in that area now. But as I said, for Charice to put that much importance to her acceptance by the Filipinos is a waste of energy because of the prevailing system there. I (maybe, as well as the others who believe Charice should spend more time here n the US) am convinced that Charice is better off concentrating on promotional efforts here in the US.

David Foster mentioned in one of the interviews that one of the difficulties they have encountered was Charice’s availability since she goes back and forth to the Philippines. He didn’t make a big issue out of it though but it is a major factor that made developing the right songs for her take much longer than usual. And should she continue to spend more time there in the Phils. it does not make sense because the market representation of the Philippines in terms of sales is a very small fraction of that in the US and elsewhere. So, with the amount of detractors and resistance from the Filipinos because of the existing system of looks, popularity, seniority and “god father backing”, spending too much time and effort there doesn’t look like a sensible thing to do.

It’s not really, as you said, “turn her back on her countrymen”, but more of an exercise of prudence as far as time and resources are spent for the preparation and launching of her first international album. I’m not saying that Charice is not going to be supported by the majority of the Filipinos when her first album comes out. On the contrary. I believe it would be a more effective and efficient move to focus most, if not all, the efforts here and abroad because if Charice bags the international market, that will automatically include the Philippines. This I say because of that principle, “nothing succeeds like success” and just like everyone else, particularly the Filipinos, they tend to slide into and get caught up in the direction of the flow.

And we will be there to support you and buy your albums!

It is very clear and I think everyone will agree, when Charice performs here in the US and countries other than the Philippines, she is always in her elements. Performance is effortless just like a fish in the water. And this is regardless of the audience being Filipino or whatever, whether the production is handled by ABS CBN, Harpo or DF, Charice dominates with her charisma and even the international stars who have appeared with her all admit it. I think she’s in good hands here. I just hope she blooms here before attempting to deal with issues in the Philippines which are not worth her time actually and are really just distractions which may turn out very costly.

Thank you to arzbayani for uploading these videos.

Charice, you know how to make people happy and that to me is worth it’s weight in gold. When you go and greet your fans, a hug, a smile, a picture, a duet, a touch and you have given each one a story and a memory for the rest of their lives. These little precious moments for us that we can relive over and over again make life worth living.

I know I had my moment in NY and no one can take that smile off my face. So thank you for being you and thinking about us, when you’re performance would be enough.

As I am typing this the tv is on. And one of todays guest on the Ellen Degeneris show is Rhap Salazar. He is going to be on within the hour. So I gotta go.

Yes jimfan you’re entirely right and thanks to you as well for the beautiful pictures you take. You did immortalized that precious moment I had with Charice as she smiled at me at the “meet and greet” in New York. Despite the obvious chaos created by the WAMU security people, you were able to capture that priceless moment you just described. Thanks to you I’m able to share that precious moment with everybody. It allows us lucky few to share our Charice’s experience with anybody who wasn’t able to attend one of Charice events. As the proverb goes: “a picture is worth a thousand words”…

Thank you for the kind words. I’m glad I was able to “freeze” that moment for you. Why am I jealous? (ha, ha).

That was one of the best times of my life. The whole evening was great. Charice at 17 is so unique. She does mature things and childlike things depending on what situation she’s in. She can make you feel like a million bucks, which we all have the power to do if we take the time to be nice to one another.

Finally, I thought the exact same thing about Rhap not mentioning Charice as on of her favorite singers. But she hasn’t reached superstar status like the others he named, so I’ll give him a pass this time. At 12 his voice is getting deeper already. Congratulations on his debut and his open invitation from Ellen to come back whenever he wants.

Charice came out last after someone won a house & lot. She looked good with straight hair. She sang TBM with goosebumps galore again. You never get tired! That what then followed by a telesera medley and another tagalog song.

I wanted to stay to greet charice but I had to run to another show. *sigh* ill have to try again.

I’m with you guys all the way. Lets us all move on and give Charice our 110% support. Her 3rd place finish at LBS is a blessing in disguise, it would have been a different path for Charice if she had won. She will be stuck in ASAP, doing provincial tours, fiestas, bars and guesting at Wowowee. And to say WR is just using Charice to gain popularity, you’re mistaken since WR and wowowee is already popular locally and globally before Charice meteoric rise to stardom. WR and wowowee give Charice enormous exposure to her pinoy fans when she appears on their shows here in the Philippines and also to other parts of the world including US. Stop the hating and bashing, let LOve to overflow among us the Real Chasters.

About 1 % of the U.S. population is of Filipino origin. Still, judging from the audiences at the DFF tour her fans are largely Filipino – Jimfan, Max and myself are some of the exceptions. With Charice’s first international album postponed so many times she has to care for her home base – her Filipino fans. One may say all kinds of bad things about “Wowowee” and its host Willie Revillame. Still, at its best, “Wowowee” has given us some remarkable performances by Charice, and she is obviously enthusiastic about singing together with 14-year old Fil-Am Thia Megia. Let us just wait for a new set of videos to enjoy.

Time to get over the LBS 3rd place finish. And the ABS CBN and the Wowowee hating thing. It only affected one person in this whole world and that was Charice. Seems to me like she has been able to move on and be happy. Would she be anymore successful now if she finished in 1st place? Why are so many stuck in neutral, unable to move on? Even DF acknowledged Willie as a friend at MSG.

Don’t know the politics behind all this hate but Charice likes to sing for her Filipino audience, and maybe the shows are not the most professional but I don’t think her star will be tarnished one bit. Non-Filipinos will not be watching videos of Wowowee on Youtube unless you are a Charice fan already. For some reason she likes this guy Willie and that’s her decision. Plus the audiences for the most part are sold out so not everyone agrees with all the haters.

Charice just came off a successful 10 city tour and singing a couple of songs on this show won’t hurt her. I guess I just don’t understand what all the fuss is about. Seems kind of trivial to keep talking about the same thing over and over, when we all know what Charice is going to do. Time to accept this is her decision and that’s that.

I agree with JimFan 100%. Every time Charice wants to appear on this show, some just cannot accept that this decision is Charice’s. Here may be another reason she appears here, it pays very well. Remember that the revenue from the DF&F tour was split among a lot of people, and Charice’s share may not have been much.

Charice’s family has many expenses to pay beginning with plane tickets to America. Then they have all of the other expenses each of us has as well. She has done very well considering where she started. I’ll leave her appearance scheduling to the experts, and just enjoy watching her perform.

I think the reason fans can’t forget the LBS deal is because clearly Charice was the winner. But because the Philippine entertainment industry is so driven by how one “looks” – Charice sadly did not win. This decision was clearly political on abs-cbn’s side. I followed that season of LBS and thought myself she was the clear winner. Imagine my utter dissapointment!

But rather than beat a dead horse, we should look at it from the perspective that it is instances such as these – which Charice has had to deal with for most of her young life- that I think Charice gets her strength to persevere and charge on from with the steadfast guidance of Mommy Raqz. ABS-CBN lost out on a golden opportunity as I think is fairly obvious to them now. Hindsight is 20/20.

As for the Wowowee incident her in the U.S., that was not Willie’s fault. The performance was stopped by the city’s fire marshall due to the venue being over capacity. If you are at all familiar with how things work here in the U.S. you should know that what the fire marshall says goes. Even Charice explained this in one of her interviews. So it is unfair to take it out on Willie and his show. Willie has always been good to Charice. Why else would she have the number of guestings she’s had on his show in Manila and abroad?

Having said all that, this just tells you of the kind of person and heart our girl has-GOLDEN!!!!! Such a beautiful spirit!

I have had the honor of seeing her perform twice and what a powerhouse. Like us, DF see’s the “it” in her and I am personnaly overjoyed that bit he who his nurturing her. She couldn’t be in better hands.

We love you Charice!!! May God continue to bless you and may always be the beautiful person that you are!

Here we go again comes the OPPORTUNISTICS.I don’t know why I always have bad feeling everytime Charice will guest with wowowee it seems that this people esp the host will only use Charice to gain popularity. I think the reason people come is because charice will be there. This is a very good business strategy for ABS-CBN at the end of the day business is just business. I just hope charice will just rest and just focus on her upcoming album. I know we want more charice exposure ( the american kind of way exposure!) not the WOWOWEE kind. Do you agree? Hope charice will learn her lesson from the past. Remember the time after she lost the LBS? and what ABS did? I don’t want to go into details i’m sure every chasters knows what i’m talking about. Anyway charice goodluck hope you have a nice time with everyone. Just remember this, IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT IF YOU DON’T GUEST AT THE FILIPINO EVENT THAT WILL MAKE YOU LESS OF A FILIPINO. You can always say NO. You have made your country tremendously proud. Godbless.

Those negative fanatic fans of this god given and talented young girl are sometimes blinded by their pure selfish and twisted imagery, who cares what she wants and where to go, as long as she did it on her own volition, and if that will really makes her happy. you all should just be there with an understanding and loyal support. After all her talent and destiny would finally decide whether she’ll make it on the very top. In the meantime let her enjoy her life, it’s hers and not for you to dictate. Just be a good fan and un-equivocal in your love and support.

BE A CONSCIENTIOUS, BUT ALSO BE A RATIONAL FOLLOWER

There are some aspects about the Wowowee show, LBS, and the ABS-CBN that I like and I don’t like…. but I think Charice still has a contract to fulfill with them. Besides, I am a person who forgives and forgets the bad past. I think it is time to move on from the old issues.

why don’t we just accept the fact that Charice was not the winner in LBS, she lost because she do not have enough text votes, it was one of the criteria of the show, not some evil people from abs cbn that just want to destroy her that they manipulate the results. In short, she lost fair and square, live with it.
look at Manny Pacman he got knock out twice before but it did not define his career. Nobody remember that now.
Just be happy with charice, hate wont help her.

Great timing! pacman and charice on the same weekend in the same city. I suspect she’ll be closing the show with one song. Any meet & greets? I have to try again!

Can’t say I’m excited for this gig for Charice. Let’s hope they don’t screw her over again…or make her seem like some second-rate singer. It’s already 3am in California, but I couldn’t bring myself to just let this go. Like I said before, I had hoped this concert wouldn’t go through and/or Charice wouldn’t agree to perform for this Willie Devillame event. One more thing, I HOPE THIS IS THE LAST WOWOWEE GUESTING CHARICE WILL DO FOR A VERY LOONNNNGGG TIME. Doing these “local” guestings will only devalue her “star status”. Haha, here’s one good thing, HOPEFULLY Jake Galvez didn’t get on that plane to Las Vegas. Hahahahaha.

i second the motion. he-he-he! nakaka-walang class! puro sigawan!
tapos, she will be made to make a duet with some second-rate singer.
or, she will be made to sing while the host is announcing something and her song will just be made as background music without even showing her face at all. like they did at “The Buzz”. Boy Abunda called Charice to sing and while she was singing he suddenly announced something, maybe thank his sponsors, i don’t remember anymore. the camera was of course focused on Boy while the poor Charice waa singing. And to think abroad, the organizers make a special stage for her alone. Even if there are a lot of famous star singers.
