Charice will appear as a special guest in a special holiday event organized by the Asian Journal Foundation at the Pasadena Civic Center on December 6th, 2009. The show will feature the Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra (FASO) performing traditional holiday songs both in English and Tagalog. The event will also feature renowned soloists and a mixed Filipino chorale group and children’s choir.

If you’re like most Filipinos in America, the Holiday season makes you yearn and pine for the kind of Christmas celebrated back in the Philippines. The Simbang Gabi (Midnight Mass), the puto bumbong and bibingka (holiday dessert delicacies), the parols (lanterns), and of course, the caroling. Most Filipinos remember children going house to house singing “Ang Pasko ay sumapit…” (Christmas is Here…) and ending with “Thank you…thank you…ang babait ninyo, thank you” (Thank you, Thank you, you are all so kind) once money has been given. Since listening to Yuletide carols Pinoy style during the season is something that is surely missed by Filipinos in America, treat your family to a most superb caroling experience at “Handog ng FASO sa PASKO” (FASO’s Gift for Christmas) at the Pasadena Civic Center on December 6th, 2009.
Fresh from her most successful 10-city concert tour with David Foster and Friends, international sensation Charice will be the special guest in the Christmas concerto, Handog ng FASO sa Pasko. Charice has been referred to by Oprah Winfrey on her September 9 show as “The Most Talented Girl in the World.” Oprah recommended that music producer David Foster take the young singer under his wing. Foster was so impressed with Charice that she has been a part of his concert tours since last year.
Now undoubtedly one of the Philippines’ biggest musical sensations, Charice has performed with some of the world’s best artists which include Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. And on December 6 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium at 5pm, Charice will grace the stage with the first Filipino American Symphony Orchestra (FASO) in LA’s most awaited Christmas concerto.
The brisk ticket sales of Handog ng Faso sa Pasko rose to all-time high records ever since word came out a few days ago that Charice will be a special guest in the show. “We already bought many tickets for the show,” said Aida, an excited Fil-Am who can’t wait for the Christmas concert. “But when we learned Charice will be one of the guests, we reserved more tickets. It will surely be a great show!” she added.
Handog ng FASO sa Pasko promises to be a great, unforgettable show indeed! Aside from Charice and the 60-member superb orchestra, Handog will feature outstanding singers like Joey Albert, sopranos Kit Navarro and Isabella Ramos, Joanne Marie Villanueva, and several excellent Fil-Am adult and children’s choirs as Immaculate Heart Choir, Philippine Chamber Singers of Los Angeles, IHMC Children’s Choir, Immaculate Heart of Mary Children’s Choir, Our Lady of Loretto Children’s Choir and Blessed Sacrament Children’s Choir. The Christmas show will present well-loved Pinoy Christmas carols and excerpts from Handel’s Messiah.
Under the leadership of Maestro Bob Shroder and the support of the Asian Journal Foundation, the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra is now being regarded as one of the finest orchestras in California. “If you’re in America with some Filipino in your blood, you shouldn’t miss Handog ng FASO sa Pasko. It’s not only a great show; it’s a great way to celebrate Christmas in America, the Pinoy way,” said Bob Shroder.
Tickets are being sold from $48- $100 at Seafood City outlets in Eagle Rock, North Hills, Carson, West Covina, Vermont Ave. in LA, Panorama City and Cerritos. This will be an excellent show with Charice in it. The whole family will be there and watching Charice again. We had difficulties purchasing the tickets through Ticketmaster online but, we did it and got all the 6 tickets needed. I guess ticket sales are going fast and now they’ve posted a sales limit of 30 tickets per household. I guess some people are buying and then selling the tickets at mark-up prices. Hope she sings ‘O Holy Night’ but she’s magnificent and will surely sound great in anything she sings. Her shows are still inexpensive compared to others, with much less talent, but I believe her tickets prices will be expensive next year, so guys watch her now while it’s still affordable.
