(NEW VIDEOS ADDED) Charice, of Oprah fame, was the closing number in Atlanta for David Foster and Friends LIVE. She sang three songs, including her debut single and Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you”.
Three videos now. Listen to the AAAHHHHH’s from the audience. Priceless!
From CM´s ”Reflections” Page, Jollibee94 writes:
I watched the concert in Atlanta (Fox Theater) last night and it was great! Time passed by so fast when it was Charice’s turn. I want to scream and say “MORE” Charice but its almost 11pm.
She really brought down the house! I was able to took some videos before the show starts, which hopefully be able to post on YT soon (my camera and memory is acting up).I planned everything night before. But when we got to Fox, and I start taking videos, the battery went dead!!! Now I realized how much effort it takes for all Charice fans to take videos and share it for all of us to enjoy and see. The place was jammed pack full!!! I only saw few Pilipinos, like a needle in a haystack. 95% americans. It was great night. David’s introduction for Charice was short, he just introduced her and called her “Charice” not telling where she came from, and stuff like.
Another note – the people sitting next to us were taking a videos. All of a sudden the guard came up there and stop them. So i guess videos are not allowed.
Another one- before Charice’ turn, the stage was dark. LIke a moment of silent…then all of a sudden the lights came on and you just hear Cha start singing. She has this BIG POWERFUL VOICE, and filled the whole Fox Theater… Amazing!!! Amazing!!!
To cut the the story short – Everyone did a great performance. We had a great time

Charice acknowledging filipinos in the audience has been part of the filipino culture since the beginning of time. No malice, no agenda, no discrimanation. I always do that in foreign country when I met filipnos, and so with all others. guys enjoy the show, and sleep well after wards.

My wife and I witnessed this girl’s talent that can’t be denied. She is truly Amaszing! It was a very low turn out for Filipinos. We were just a handful that gathered around for the meet and greet. She is very charming, friendly and down to earth. God bless you and your mom, your brother and your career. There is no limit where your talent will take you. Stay humble and keep your feet on the ground. Proud to be Pinoy! A fan forever…

Straight to the point with no-holds barred…and rightly so.
I felt obligated to write further on this matter as I wrote sometime ago regarding Filipinos (and let me be clear…I meant Filipinos) writing “proud to be Pinoy” comments on YouTube which I chastised as being somewhat short of being overbearing and boastful to the rest of the viewers of Charice’s videos.
As to the matter of Charice zeroing on Filipinos or fans with Filipino heritage in the DF & Friends concert tours, this should be taken in a different light. This should be taken in its real and true form and meaning.
This is a simple expression of a longing.. an endearment.. of a young talent, alone and out of her country..trying to affirm connection with her countrymen in a foreign land. It also serves somewhat like a novelty or a “fun part” of the show much like DF saying “Salamat po” to these Pinoys and should be taken ‘per se’ and not in any devious context much more, carrying this segment of the repertoire to high heavens with overtures of malice, like discrimination, exclusion, etc.
This is a show of performing artists and talents (and for a good cause, I might add) and should be a SHARED moment of merry making and celebration…not a contest of who is better and who is not among the performers…and more so….not a competition among the diverse audience. This is where the cultures clash between the Pinoys and the West.
USA is the most dynamic and democratic country in the world and an advocate of freedom and democracy, though others may disagree. Where else can you see and witness an election of a President in the person of President Barack Obama in the free world?
So, please..I implore the Pinoys to be more open minded and pragmatic in matters of this nature. Let us (and I include myself) be more tolerant, understanding and accommodating on this “issue”.
Finally, I say to you Filipinos..Be proud but at the same time…. be humble.. as much as possible…. in your silence.

Thank you very much for giving that multiply link. I was soooooo…..full of Charice. I spent more than an hour reading Charice’s story in the Yes Magazine. I cried again.
Yes indeed, Charice’s life story is magical, a true-to-life Cinderella story, blessed with great talent, with several wicked people around her but she got a fairy godmother (Ms Oprah) and the rest is HISTORY!

To all our readers,
I don´t want to jump on the “Filipino Shoutout” topic again. This is usually off-topic, being commented under almost every article. Some Mods have expressed their opinions about this already. We´re trying not to censor/delete/edit any comments so as not to offend anybody. But please, s’il vous plaît!, wees zo goed!, por favor!, per favore!, pakiusap!, ¡por favor! and bitte; let´s move on.(thanks google translate)
I never said anything about this topic but I think this is no issue at all. Not to me, not to the Germans, oh what, not in Europe (lol).
Thank you, Danke schoen, merci!, grazie!, dank u!, obrigado, ¡gracias!, salamat,
Schoen
let me put in my 2 cents, maybe, someone who is close to Charice to tell her that it is okay, but since someone already quoted insecurty to of those who brings it up, maybe there is a polite way of doing it without offending anyone…here’s my 2 cent
1. “Are there anybody from “out of town” tonight ??
2. “Are there anybody from “out of “STATE” tonight ??
3. “Are there anybody from “out of country” tonight ??
THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING TO THIS SHOW.
Regardless, some one will find fault on this type of welcoming
remarks…can’t win all of them, for at least it will soften up all the “shoutout”, some call it the “PINOY THING”…oh well, thats my 2 cents…i hope it will end this controversy once and for all.

Let her be and let’s move on from this topic. I’m glad from the recent comments/thumbs, it seems more & more people are letting it be known, a shout-out to Filipinos is a non-issue for them as well.
Schoen, you forgot ‘arigatou’
Thanks ALL for supporting Charice with your unconditional love.

Yes, indeed, I agree with Eve, Schoen,Osuna, Jimfan, Topgun, and many others who does not care about it, just let it be and let us put to rest this “filipino shoutout”, for all we know it’s a scripted issue between David and Charice and as the way I observed it, they were having fun. If somebody was offended on it, maybe that issue have already been addressed to David since the beginning of the “Tour”. but it still going on, don’t you think it is part of the show?
Let us just relax, enjoy and be thankful to all who made this website wonderful and great to stay with.

Given an opportunity who on earth will not be proud of her country & heritage? I think that America is a melting pot of nationalities and her American fans who hears CHARICE acknowledged Filipino are not offended. Rather, when they hear CHARICE say her loves of her country it deepens their admiration for her and adds another dimension to her magic.
