Anyway, I resolved to trust her since she’s a brave girl and a survivor! To my joy, she was marvelous! Though there were some minor struggles in finding the right words, her personality and courage made the interview a really proud moment for most of us.

she’s just doing a shout out, if there’s a singer or rapper who comes from queens, he’d do the same thing. There was a previous poster who commented that if it were an American to do it in the Philippines it would be wrong wouldn’t it? Who knows. But then again,
the Americans colonized the Philippines against its will of course, killed many Filipinos in the war, propped up it’s cruel dictator, and Guiliani defended Marcos in its case for plundering. So of course it would be wrong. Charice gives a shout out to her Filipino fans when she sees that there are many Filipino fans in the crowd, especially because they make her feel at home. Also, she does it because she wants to make it a point to do so. Don’t take that away from her – it’s just a shout out, in memory of where she came from.

But I like your take Quentin about her wanting to feel at home here. It’s just nice for her to see her own kind so far away from home. Also, if you noticed, she seem to get excited from the response of the filipino audience(she said so in one of her interviews) because she uses that as a borometer of her performance. She said that her own countrymen are the hardest for her to please. Remember, she was never picked by her own people to make it big(becasue of her stature or apperance)
