A Long Way to Go for Charice

A Long Way to Go for Charice

IF there is one thing in common between Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda, it is their meteoric rise to stardom via youtube.com.  With just one click of the  mouse, the world came to know Charice and Arnel and the lives of both extremely talented singers changed forever.

What pride Arnel Pineda is to us Filipinos as he was given a documentary film by the band he never dreamt of becoming a part of.  “Journey” is one of those rock bands who transcended rock and roll   in the late 70’s and early 80’s making themselves the icons of rock music.

Their downturn in the music industry started when former lead singer Steve Perry left the band and went solo. They had trouble finding someone who could replace Steve but with the age of technology, anyone may be given a chance to change his or her life in just one click. Indeed  Arnel was discovered through Youtube by the legendary rock icons when he was still with his local group.

A lot of people especially abroad have appreciated what Arnel gave to “Journey.”  Recently, Arnel was honored by Oprah Winfrey for his inspirational success story.

However, it looks like Arnel’s meteoric star has reached its peak but Charice has a long way to go still. Just how high would Charice go especially now that she is supported by Oprah? Just asking…

Many thanks, Lololando. Just following Charice’s advice: Listen, breathe in and breathe out, and never fail to send a note to God. If we do all these, then we will always love them.

I wonder why some people here are quick to shred Mr. Aquino to pieces. I think we all need to stop for a moment, step back, take a deep breath, and refocus our senses. Did somebody ask Mr. Aquino for further clarification? It is easy to be judgmental, but unless you are inside someone’s mind, you may never know what that person is thinking.

I have read numerous other articles he has written for Charice and Arnel and all of these were overflowing with admiration and untainted love for both artists.

This article may have been poorly written (sprinkled with confusion and thus resurrecting anger of unimaginable proportion), but I think the totality of this editorial reflects the writer’s appreciation of what Charice and Arnel have been contributing to the world.

I’m sure most, if not all of the readers here, have heard that saying,”the pen is mightier than the sword”. In the same token, the one who weilds this pen should be very careful since just like the blade of the sword, it may be very sharp and can, often I’m sure it does, cut and damage unintentionally. Just like any weapon, the pen may be used to protect and defend as well as offend and destroy and cause so much damage. The users of the pen should be responsible enough to be always aware of such standard precautionary measures and warnings before attempting to take it out of the box. Not knowing how to use this tool is the sole responsibility of the writer. You cannot expect the reader to understand and perceive your message if you are not clear or use the wrong choice of words. Remember, your use of the communication tool is for you to be undertood and not misunderstood. Experimenting with the use of some words is a dangerous thing when your are trying to communicate to an audience of different cultural backgrounds. Some words or phrases may mean totally different things to different kinds of people. Peace!

I admit this is from an American point of view, but there is no musical talent more respected in our country then Barbra Streisand.
Charice has the potential to be a better singer and performer then Barbra. She is not there yet, but she is young and has lots of time to rise to any level.
Taylor Swift sold out Madison Square Garden in 1 minute. Charice is at least as good a performer as Taylor.

Journey has been given a new lease of life with Arnel as their new frontman, and they may reach new peaks just with the original audience of the original band simply because they will want to see how their new renditions compare with the original ones.

In the process, they could also capture a new or younger audience, which would represent a new peak for them to set out for. As well, they could totally reinvent themselves with new songs or genres.

please forgive the pun, but it will be the “journey” towards the peak that matters. In Miley Cyrus’s words, it’s “the climb” that matters. And we will all be beneficiaries of this.

Before posting my comment/s to an article,I read and re-read and understand what the writer is trying to project. And my comment is always focused on the subject being written because I hate myself barking at the wrong tree (subject)and the JUDGE won’t allow it.

On this 5-paragraph article, the first and last have created these bone of comments among us. The first paragraph tells us that both CHARICE and ARNEL benefited from You-Tube in their meteoric rise to stardom. I will not fault him if he did not mention other mediums.

In the last paragraph, he plotted (not compared) the trajectory of both singers in their meteoric rise. Arnel’s star seemed to have peaked already while CHARICE has “a long way to go still”. Question: are they climbing the same peak? I doubt!! God has given us our own special CUPS. The 2 singers have already hurdled many mountain peaks to reach to their present status. And as Arrvee have correctly stated, in his #12 comment, a singer could reinvent him/herself to create another peak.

And here is the best part, that while these 2 singers are peaking, we are beneficiaries in their journey to stardom. Tell me it ain’t so, Jimfan155…heheheh
