The “Wowowee” show at the Harrah’s and Harvey’s Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena in Nevada, United States last September 6 was stopped by the American fire officials, prompting Willie Revillame and his co-hosts to apologize to thousands of people who came to watch them perform, an entertainment show reported Tuesday night.
Quoting a report by Bev Llorente of ABS-CBN North America News Bureau, “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” said the fire department in Lake Tahoe ordered the staff of “Wowowee” to immediately end the show due to its fireworks.
The report said the authorities were concerned that the fireworks could pose a danger to the crowd who trooped to the 7,000-capacity arena.
Revillame said: “We have to stop the show because of the fireworks. Baka nga naman may tamaan ng apoy. We have to follow the rules here in Lake Tahoe. Maganda naman iyon at disiplinado ang lahat. Salamat sa lahat ng pumunta [at] sa lahat who spent time with us. Walang kapantay na kaligayahan iyon.” (We have to stop the show because of the fireworks. People may get injured by the flames. We have to follow the rules here in Lake Tahoe. It is best that we have discipline. Thank you to all that came and spent time with us. We are very pleased.)
Co-host Mariel Rodriguez added: “We’re very grateful. We’re really sorry that we weren’t able to finish the show. Thank you so much for the acceptance.”
Due to this development, guests Charice and Anne Curtis were not able to finish their songs.
Charice’s mom, Racquel Pempengco, told abs-cbnNEWS.com that her daughter was scheduled to do a medley of the theme songs of ABS-CBN’s television series “Kambal sa Uma” and “Tayong Dalawa” as well as her international single “Note To God.”
But Charice was able to perform Whitney Houston’s “Run to You” only, according to Racquel.
“Kumanta na lang siya ng kapiraso na ‘Run To You’ kasi siya ang finale,” (She just sang a portion of ‘Run to You’ since she was supposed to be the finale) she said, adding:
“Si Anne nga pinutol din. Hindi rin tinapos. Si Pokwang din hindi nakakanta.” (Anne was not able to complete her song. And Pokwang was not able to sing.)

i just watch wowowee show yesterday its really fun and my mom is the one of contestant grabi talga ang pagod nila..pra lang mapasaya ang mga pinoy sa ibang bansa at sana nman po wag po kaun magmumura kac pinaghirapan nila yun. nag enjoy po ako at ang bait ng mga staff nila

willie is willie, he has not changed and he never will just to satisfy some of us… what i don’t understand is why the management is allowing him to do and say what he wants or dictate and demand.
somebody inside the network told me that the management would rather lose some subscribers than willie coz there are just more common people or masses supporting willie than subscribers demanding for his ouster!

Wowowie is considering a full refund and abrupt cancellation of Wowowie Tacoma show due to extremely low ticket sales..Oh well I guess that’s what happens when you routinely cheat people.

Apparently, the Wowowee people had not been told that fireworks were prohibited and for this reason they had to cut short their program.

At least this part agrees with the original ABS-CBN story. However,

I read that people came from far away and filled hotels, motels and what not and brought good business to the area. There were also song numbers by Pokwang, Anne Curtis and Charice Pempengco. By the way, the show ended a little earlier than planned because of city fire-works.
Nevertheless, according to the Manila Bulletin who has the information from the producer Ms. Reynald Tapia of D’ Platinum Productions it was all a great success. And I can only agree. Local business, the organizers and the artists got their money. Is there anything more to say?
