Acclaimed Canadian singer, songwriter and producer David Foster will head out on a 10-city North American trek this fall, with surprise guest performers slated for each stop. The “David Foster and Friends” tour will begin Oct. 21 in Chicago, visiting theaters and arenas in major markets throughout the US and parts of Canada. The current schedule concludes with a Nov. 8 hometown performance in Vancouver. Details are below.
Tickets for all shows are available now via Ticketmaster. (LiveDaily is an operating unit of Ticketmaster Entertainment, which also owns Ticketmaster.)
A handful of guests have been announced for the outing, including Philip Bailey (Earth, Wind and Fire), Charice, Peter Cetera (Chicago) and former “American Idol” contestant Michael Johns. According to a press release, additional surprise guests can be expected at each concert.
“Cher and Donny Osmond both surprised me in Las Vegas so I think people won’t be disappointed,” Foster said in a prepared statement. “You never know what’s going to happen with this much talent on stage.”
The tour will also feature a search for emerging talent in each city, dubbed the Hit Man Talent Search. Those interested can submit video performances to namedrop.com. Local radio and TV stations will air selected clips, which viewers and listeners will then vote on, selecting two finalists to compete at a live show during the tour. The winner, chosen by the audience and Foster himself, will then perform live at the Nov. 8 Vancouver show.
Foster has won 15 Grammy Awards for his work with some of the music industry’s top-selling artists, including Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Madonna, Chicago and Andrea Bocelli.
