Saving My Backyard

charice11 75x75 Saving My Backyard It may be difficult to imagine that technology and going green can go hand-in-hand but that is exactly want HP wants to achieve with its My Backyard campaign in cooperation with Ayala Foundation Inc.’s Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education.

The campaign is an eco-sensitive initiative that will help encourage the youth to build a greener and more sustainable tomorrow.

HP officials say that the campaign is timely and relevant.

“HP believes that technology plays a vital role in education. Centex’s newly-renovated computer room will certainly enable students to leverage on the power of technology not only to help them meet the demands of schoolwork, but also allow them to share ideas on how to best care and save Mother Earth,” says Satjiv Chahil, senior vice president of global marketing, personal systems group, Hewlett-Packard.

“Amid rising environmental concerns in the Philippines, there has been an increasing need for environmental consciousness especially among our young people. It is good that through HP’s My Backyard project, with the help of Centex students, we have shown that even little things can make a big difference,” says Dette Nacario, country general manager, personal systems group, HP Philippines.

She adds: “HP’s My Backyard campaign is indeed a testament to the dedication of our youth in building a greener future for our country and the world, while headlining a message that today’s youth can do their part in protecting the environment by starting with their communities.”

The campaign’s activities include community-wide clean-up exercises and the development of a dedicated Web site where students can upload photos, essays, and videos featuring nature-friendly themes. The Centex grade school pupils also composed an original song and a music video that aims to inspire people to adopt behavioral changes and become responsible stewards of the environment.

During the launch of the campaign, the students got to meet Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda, who are both international singers. They are also HP My Backyard advocates. Charice also lent her voice to the campaign song “My Backyard,” which was arranged by acclaimed musician Gino Cruz with lyrics written by the Centex students.

“I am so proud to be part of this advocacy and be able to inspire young people like me to help save Mother Earth. Ever since, I really want to take part in environmental programs that focus on the youth,” says Charice.

“When we travel around the world for our concerts, I see the different facets and state of our environment. I think it’s really time we teach people, especially the young ones, on how we can do our share,” says Pineda, lead singer of the band Journey.

Gary Valenciano, a United Nations Children’s Fund ambassador, sings his own rendition of the My Backyard theme song. Valenciano is known to be a staunch supporter of environmental projects and activities in which children are actively involved.

It was indeed a great success!!!

If only all these business minded people will follow the act of Ayala Foundation and HP to protect the environment while helping the youngster for the next generation to live a healthy natural world? then the multiflier effect will be huge!!!

Charice & Arnel are the frequent flier in the world and they saw the difference between countries and communities whether it is small or big, they can add value to the Philippines by making them the ambassadors of the environment…

The youth in Charice is a big impact to the teens as she is idolized not only by her talents but also with her cleverness.

The journalist has a big responsibility in reporting a worthy news on ecosystem to bring a virtuous message to all…

Let’s all do our share and make mother earth the best place to live-in for the next generation…. Cheers!!!
