But, as for our princess, it is a bit complicated. The problem is her meteoric rise in only just two years from a humble beginning to where she is right now, hobnobbing with the superstars of the music industry. That means that she is also being watch, not only by Pilipino fans in the Phils. but possibly by people from around the world whether non tagalog speaking Pilipinos or foreigners. So, it is imperative that Charice must be able to communicate in the acknowledge universal language for the sake of her journey to that so called stardom. I observed, that she was speaking in Taglish in response after accepting her award. So she is almost there. She will just have to make a concerted effort and replace those Tagalog words with English ones. Of course, it may not be that easy. But for Charice, I think the best and the fastest way to achieve competency in that language is to associate herself with native English apeakers, prefarably, those of her own age. Just like that young girl she was with during that LV chasters gathering. And since her family are with her wherever she is nowadays, they might as well do the same, learning it with Charice. Lastly, even if she does not plan to move permanently to the States for now, she must at least find a way to stay a little longer while there. Like I said earlier, she has no choice but to learn to speak English now or as soon as she could. She is rising so fast, her international fans requires her to do so. Remember princess other than your amazing voice and other talents, your FANS are the ones that pushes you up, all the rest can only guide you. Therefore, as far as fans are concerned, the more you have the better and if they are coming from all over the globe with varied nationalities and ages, even merrier. She's only 17 and just getting started, she'll have plenty of time to get fluent, it takes less than a year in complete immersion and she learns so fast. I've seen great improvement since the Ellen show. I certainly don't expect her to speak English when in her native country, though it would be nice for the world fans. However when abroad, she should speak the international language of English. I'm not sure what Omie means (#14) when she says speaking Tagalog to compatriots abroad is okay. In personal conversations maybe, but when performing in the USA, even to mostly filipino audiences at Philippines independence day events, she should address the audience in English, which she did not, maybe assuming they all understand her. But there are now plenty of 2nd and 3rd generation U.S. born filipinos who don't speak or understand Tagalog. My son can mimic the accent very well, which is hilarious, but that's about the extent of his knowledge. Oh, he understands when Lola says "kain tayo" (sp?) Let's eat!
