After a masterful performance at San Remo, Italy’s Ti Lascio Uno Calzone and a series of recording sessions in Los Angeles, California, Charice is now back again in her native homeland. She made another appearance at Ruffa & Ai’s show where she sang a couple of songs. On the same day, she also sang the Philippine national anthem live along with various ABS-CBN affiliates throughout the world in a synchronized gesture of nationalism.

Charice nervous to sing national anthem
Despite having had many international appearances, Charice admitted to being a little nervous when she recently sang the Philippine national anthem. She said that it was not overseas at Manny Pacquiao’s fight nor at any international performance but there, in her country, singing the national anthem that gave her the jitters. Charice said she tried her best to sing it in its original key.
Even after having attained international success, Charice remains simple as she prepares for her June 27th concert at the SMX Convention Center. Her only luxury is a Louis Vuitton bracelet which was her birthday gift to herself. “Many already have this, but this is my first LV bracelet.” She said it looks really cool especially when she wears it while singing.
Charice was elated when her latest Philippine album recently attained Gold status. This was just after her “Note to God” became a hit on iTunes and Amazon in the US charts. Though, she states that it’s a sweeter feeling to sing in one’s homeland and thus, she’s trying her best to fill the SMX venue for her first major concert. “Please fill up SMX!” she implores.

This is a beautiful rendition of the LUPANG HINIRANG. (Original score). I guess I will be humming this for a few days. Missed doing it since I left the country. I remember doing this everyday at school from kinder to high school, then followed by the PANATANG MAKABAYAN. Then in college, we just do it during special ceremonies. I also remember standing up for the national anthem in the movie houses just before the opening of the last full show. Whatever happened to those good old days? Baaa yaaangg magiliw, hmm hmmm hmm ………
