Charice wows crowd in Las Vegas charity concert
International young diva Charice nearly blew the roof off Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada with her performance during the “David Foster & Friends” concert on May 9.
Foster, the legendary composer and music producer, and international artist Cher introduced the “next superstar singer from the Philippines” on stage.
Charice belted out Celine Dion hits like “Power of Love” and “All By Myself” and a medley of songs from the popular film “Bodyguard.” An estimated 12,000 people, mostly Filipinos, were up on their feet dancing and cheering as Charice sang Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” a song she described as the national anthem of women.
Clay Aiken, Donny Osmond, Brian McKnight and Paul Anka also performed in the charity concert.
The Filipino singer’s performance at the Mandalay Bay has been uploaded on video-sharing Web site YouTube. It drew more than 10,000 hits and praises from people across the globe.
“Yeah, I enjoyed [it] so much and it was an energetic and powerful performance. What else can I say but it was a Wowerr!!!!” commented naldzki.

Meanwhile, during the show, Charice thanked Foster and Oprah Winfrey, two influential people who are behind the singer’s international career.
“Speaking of power, I would like to mention these people who are very special in my life. First, he is my fan, my producer, my mentor. He taught me a lot of things and of course he is my hero — David Foster. And of course I wanna thank Oprah and Lisa for believing in my dreams and of course believing in me. Thank you so much. I love you both,” Charice said.
Also in time for Mother’s Day, Charice did not forget to greet all the mothers in the world, especially her mom, Racquel.
“There’s nothing more powerful than the love from my mom. I will always cherish her every single day. Mommy, I love you so much and Happy Mother’s Day,” Charice said.
Charice also acknowledged her Filipino fans who were present in the concert.
This is the second time that the young singer performed at Mandalay Bay for the “David Foster & Friends” show. Last year, she was also part of the charity concert. The proceeds from the concert would go to The David Foster Foundation, which helps children who are in need of organ transplants.
Charice met Foster last year in Los Angeles when she appeared on “Ellen DeGeneres Show.” They flew together to Las Vegas on a private jet to watch the farewell show of Celine Dion at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. With a report from Bev Llorente, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau

Once again, the hit of the night was young Filipina singing sensation Charice. David told me that her first album will be released this fall. He said: “It’s all new material. We have 14 sensational tracks that will make her a worldwide star. Her voice is unbelievable, and I wanted to have all new rather than anything sung by other stars. This way she goes up on her own without unnecessary comparison to others.” Also attending David’s party at RM Seafood in Mandalay Bay were singers Brian McKnight and Peter Cincotti.

Thank you for the full coverage here of Charice’s performances and the wonderful comments between songs.
I bought the Hit Man: David Foster and Friends CD/DVD package and I just love it but this year Charice sang “All by Myself” and “I will Survive” which was not on the 2 hour DVD. Thank you for making them available.
I have bought everything Charice has released so far, including albums were she contributed one track. I can not wait for her new album and her personal concert tour. What better concert traing is there than traveling / performing with David Foster and Friends.
While it dosn’t seem possible Charice is getting even better with each performance. Outside the concerts her renditions of “God Bless America” “Somewhere over the Rainbow” and our National Anthem have rightfully placed her on the TOP tier of todays performers! Blessings to Charice and Mommy Racquel

I think i wrote an article about my experience at this concert and i think it fits these video clips just right. It was entitled “Charice- Live and in Person”. It must be somewhere in your files.

You know it’s really difficult fopr me to write in response to a challenge. Like it were not natural. although I admit that there have been other occassions where I was really inspired by Charice’s performance to come up with an article, I couldn’t get myself to make it fit this “colours” thing. I tried, honestly but it didn’t work. maybe sometime when I get to personally meet Charice. someday, soon hopefully, I wish.

I’m not sure how one goes about getting permission to upload a YouTube video, but the best one I’ve seen of Charice’s “The Power Of Love” was taken by someone named Brian (BMeister22) and is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4bNa87ba7s
Brian had a seat REALLY close to the stage, held the camera very steady, and — best of all — used a HD video camera. Unfortunately, this was apparently the only song he recorded.

I challenge you to write a song for Charice. You have mentioned the inspiration you get from her and it’s just fitting to honor Charice in return. You are a lucid writer too and you have to continuously develop your talent. If I may ask, write two stanzas to begin with the song. I suggest that you be guided by colors.
