The videos of Charice’s performance at the Leeza Gibbons Oscar after party are now available. The charity show at Mr. Chow was filled with well-heeled patrons bidding on various auction items, with producer David Foster and singer Olivia Newton-John co-hosting the event. Other performers included Ms. Newton-John, Michael Buble and Thelma Houston.
Charice sang 3 songs that night. With the unruly and inebriated crowd paying no heed to Foster’s and Newton-John’s repeated pleas to hush, Charice commanded everyone’s attention to listen when she started with a powerful rendition of Listen by Beyonce. Cheering as she sang, the audience seem to have broken out of their drunken stupor by the time she was finished.
Next, she started to sing a newly recorded track from her upcoming album with David Foster entitled Fingerprint. An R ‘n B-inflected tune with a dance groove, she was roughly a minute into the song when a technical glitch occurred and the tape skipped into the beginning strains of I Will Survive. Starting from the top, Charice tried to sing the same piece again only to encounter the same mishap. Foster then simply decided to move on to the next song.
Without missing a beat, Charice dove into her finale of the evening, her energized version of I Will Survive originally by Gloria Gaynor. With this last number she danced and moved to the music, wowing the enthusiastic crowd once more to give her hearty cheers and applause when she had finished. All sweaty, she smiled to the audience as Foster praised her performance.
After all the live performances, the glitzy party continued non-stop with a DJ spinning disco music while the affluent folks grooving and shaking till the morning light. It was like a dance party from the 70′s again–minus the bell bottom pants, flat collars and bad hair.

So much commotions of this Oscar after-party “teaser” of Charice’s Fingerprint. That is just it…a teaser. Don’t make anything out of it. It is just a ploy, a stickler to find out how people will respoond to make necessary corrections to the music or just simple stumper to survey general reactions. The CD can not “skip” just like that at exactly the same time without being known ahead of time by the technicians. And if the CD is dirty, it is unlikely to get it used for the occasion because they always have back ups. Remember folks this is Hollywood, preparation is very important, these things cannot just happen if not intentional. See how Charice spontaniously connect to the next song….almost immediate. Good for Charice to be exposed in different ways, for experience. I will look at this positively. A good song for her to capture the younger generation. And if this is all just an accident…then…oh well!

Like David Foster said before, he doesn’t know anything about
disney music. I know it will be awkward for him to right a diva songs for Charice at her age right now. Which I do understand.
I myself not into this kind of music, but Charice is something
else. She makes me LISTEN when she sings.
And one more thing, this aint luck at all. She is Destined to
be a SUPER DIVA maybe i’m overexageratin’ (dont know the correct
spelling and i ain’t gonna waste time to look in dictionary coz’ i
hate dictionary) …….but she will be one of the best…..
This is not Luck….its her DESTINY…..
i could have been a postal worker and went postal….heheh
my destiny is being a truck driver and like everyone elses
here ……you have yours….

I don’t think the new song, Fingerprint, was a teaser. I believe a technical glitch really occurred. Otherwise, Mr. Foster would not have attempted it again. This was a private charity affair and not much attention was paid to the artists’ technical and musical support. Foster had Charice there for only one reason – many high profile benefactors were there because it was for charity. David Foster knows what he is doing.
Also, did you notice Michael Gurfinkel accompanied Charice to the affair. This was the first time I can recall that Charice’s mother wasn’t visible. My guess is that she did not go. In my opinion, this crowd was not the type crowd this mother would want to see her 16 year old daughter be around.
Unfortunately, these type affairs, just like the birthday party where Charice sang “Don’t Stop the Music” put and keep Charice in the American public’s eye. You cannot expect studio quality video here. We all want the best for Charice. We just need to believe that Charice’s American management team – Harpo Productions, David Foster, and the Gurfinkels have her best interest in focus. Chasters are perhaps overzealous in their opinions of how Charice is building her dream, and that’s a good thing. It provides her management feedback and possibly can alter some management decisions.
While I’m on my stump, I hope the ABS-CBN mess does not rear its ugly head again. Charice doesn’t need it, and the Philippines are her comfort zone. Let’s all work together to promote her career while keeping her safe physically and mentally.
Our little girl is growing up before our eyes. She has been through hard times and now is enjoying the best of times. I simply cannot believe what has occurred since September 9th, 2008 (less than six months ago). Charice is a smart young lady. She and her mother will stay humble, knowing that fame is fleeting and it can all disappear as fast as it happened.
Again, I want to thank Charicemania’s team and the Chasters for keeping us supplied on Charice’s ongoing activities, and videotaping her performances. I also really enjoy her interviews. She is just an amazing person. I can’t think of any new superlatives that have not already been said of Charice.
