Hi BAF,
I really hope I could find that video where part of it has a short interview with Atty Shapiro about Charice.
Like I said, that interview stayed in my mind and I thought ABS-CBN reserves some limited rights over the winners of Little Big Star.
In case no one else has ever seen it, I apologize for mentioning it. I hope I don’t get accused of spreading wrong info. And if I also remember it right, charicemania site is not around yet when I saw that video, or maybe I haven’t seen this site yet that time.

I’ve seen almost all of her interviews and article written for her that charicemania covered and I don’t recall Shapiro saying that at all. Shapiro was interviewed only once by Phil media I thought and that’s the TVpatrol interntional segment during her Ellen Guesting last Dec. 2007. Ellen even introduced Charice as an unknown even in PI and said that she doesnt have any contract.
Watching back on some of the news bits about charice, there is another TVpatrol segment later on early 2008 that shows charice and mama raquel signing something on TV and I think that’s the ABS-CBN/StarRecords, Charo Santos was shown in the wings.
All I can say is this 2nd album is smells like “tinapa” and I don’t believe that manager in PI is coordinating everything with her US managers. Now before Anciano Uno get in the groove of trying to snipe me down on my belief’s, just to let you know this is my opinion.
Also i would have been happier if this 2nd album have at least some new Pilipino/English materials not all cover songs. It’s been 1 full year and those peeps in PI have nothing to show for her to sing originals but covers? What’s up with that? They (Phil) seems to want to propagate the current thinking about Fil singers in the world, yes they are good singers on every genre but Fils dont have originality.
I’ll be really weary with the 2nd album, not saying im not buying it to support Charice but it just puts a sour taste on my tongue knowing it will be released on Mother’s day, arent we all waiting for her International Album to be released in May too? And don’t be fooled that its only for PI release, cause Amazon is here and I doubt that given Starrecords see the almighty dollars, will also partly release it globally.

Hi koj,
I based my comment on one tfc (or asian journal, I can’t fully recall and I cannot find the video now) interview early of 2008 with Atty Ed Shapiro. He said the first legal issue was her existing contract in manila, he asked for a copy of that contract and determined it was possible for Charice to perform in the US (outside of that contract). It stuck in my mind. So, I thought that contract they talked about has something to do with her placing third in the LBS competition.
I could be wrong, though.
Whatever the story is, Charice has announced that a 2nd local album is out soon and we are all here to support her.

hi munztaowl, I was reading the comments. I thought charice doesn’t have anymore contract with abs / star records? If i remember it right on one of her interviews with Corina Sanchez last december that’s what Charice said (No contract in Phils but in the US). I wonder also why she’s committing herself with star records and for another album. I just hope Charice keeps prioritizing her US career (this opportunity doesn’t come often) and her health. Like DF said it can get out of hand pretty fast. I guess as long as she keeps herself ready and available whenever her US management schedules her, it’s ok to do extra work
TO CHARICE: Keep your eye on the big prize — US album / career!!!
Stay Humble, Healthy and take care of that precious voice! We love it so much
Good Luck

Hi jack, if I understand it correctly Charice is only complying with her contract obligations with the Philippine tv network. Her US lawyer was only able to find a hole on that existing contract that made possible for Cha’s US team to come up with another contract to introduce her to the US crowd. I believe everybody understand that it will be best for Charice not to renew that local contract once it expires and concentrate as early as possible on her US career. But knowing Charice, she probly’ll try to keep coming back to sing for the people closest to her heart, even to those who gave her the heartaches and pain early in her career.

Serving 2 masters is always hard. Working for Phils and US management and juggling schedules between the 2 is very challenging. Time will come you will have to sacrifice one and I hope you really prioritize the US gigs and let Phils team just work around your schedule. I wonder why can’t your US team manage your schedule even in the Phils so they can better monitor you. I wish you the best and we write / say these out of concern to your health especially.
As an American, i know how hard it is for asians to breakthrough the music industry here in the US more so for somebody who didn’t grow up here but I think you got the skills, potential and that VOICE! GOOSEBUMPS!
Keep it up and God Bless charice!!

I agree, Charice need to stay in the US to pursue her career and for her and Carl’s school. But guys, I think she cannot just stop her appearances in PI. It maybe easier said than done. There probly are legal and pr concerns. Yes, everybody know that ABS-CBN (or Star Records) is only cashing in on Charice’s sudden popularity, thanks to Dave Duenas a.k.a. FalseVoice – the man!!! – and YouTube. I say this because, look, only when did they record Cha’s first AND ONLY local album? They made Charice wait that long. But still, maybe it would be better if we leave this issue to her US team. They’re the experts and they probably know by now how to take Ming’s career to a blast. For now let’s just enjoy her music and international gigs. That’s our role in the picture. On that, I think we’re gonna be busy again this year on this site and on YouTube ;D – we love u, Ming… we’re not arguing………

Charice. Please. Stay in U.S.. Your brother can move to u.s. and can study there. I want you to succeed for you have the talent that not everyone is gifted with. so please. share your gift not just in philippines but to the WOOOOOOOOOOORLD! Take care of your health. Dont put so much attention in the philippines. you’ll not succeed here coz most filipinos only care about physical appearance than talent. Please…

Charice should move to the US so that she can concentrate and grow as a recording artist. For Charice, you are more appreciated in the US than you are in the Philippines. Dont waste time and grab the opportunity that’s knocking on your door because millions of people want it bad. Most winners of American Idols dont even get where you are now. Your brother Carl should have no problem adjusting in the US because there are a lot of great schools and Filipinos everywhere.

Charice, I am your avid fan and all I want for my ming is to reach the ultimate goal of stardom. My advice to you is to limit yourself appearing in local shows in PI because it will only diminish your market value. Its detrimental to your success. We (fans) want you to concentrate here in US as to guarantee your career. I hope charice handler will listen to all good advice that her fans are giving her.

I fully agree with bostonian. Charice needs to be based in the US. Her too many exposure on any ABSCBN shows cheapens her appeal. They even relegated her as backdrop singer in BnK. Dang!

My opinion is that Charice needs to concentrate on her career here in the US in order to succeed. Not always going back and forth to PI. Once her feet is solid in US it’s possible to tour internationally. Making appearances in PI wont help her career around the world. It would just be a detriment to her success. Besides, once her music is known around the world, all those high falutin singers that look down on Charice will be clamoring to sing HER songs!!!
fyi, I always notice how Charice is treated with respect and wonder here in US versus PI. It seems that Charice is more welcomed in US than her own country….mmmmmm

Oscar!!!!! Wow!! that’s the magical touch of DF and OW are really working in putting Charice popularity to the top and be known throughout the WORLD.
How about the Grammy on Sunday night? Is Charice be guesting? Does anyone have any information? I have seen Clive Davis in ET Canada saying that Jennifer Hudson is performing a duet with a surprise guest. Is Charice the surprise guest? I hope and pray that it would be Charice. To be in the Grammy would be very very great!!!
