FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo Updated December 13, 2008 12:00
According to Funfare’s US-based “roving” DPA, there’s a possibility that Charice might perform at the inauguration ball of President-elect Barack Obama on Jan. 20 next year. It’s not confirmed yet.
The DPA said that “every artist is volunteering to perform at the event.” Charice is being handled by Oprah who is close to the Obamas, having campaigned for Barack. Oprah is said to be pushing for Charice to be included in the “magic list.”
“Knowing Oprah’s clout and Charice’s impressive record so far,” added the DPA, “it won’t be a surprise if she does make it to the Obama inaugural.”
2008 has been a fruitful year for Charice who, as we all know, was discovered through the YouTube last year by somebody connected with Ellen DeGeneres. Before long, Charice was guesting on the show of Oprah Winfrey who was so impressed that she eventually became Charice’s handler. Then, Charice caught the attention of David Foster who invited her top perform at a concert he put up in the East Coast and included her in an album featuring big names.
After performing with Celine Dion in New York’s Madison Square Garden, Charice then graced Macy’s Thanksgiving Day last Nov. 27 with teen stars Miley Cyrus and David Archuleta (this year’s runner-up in American Idol Season 7).
And soon… well, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Hi, Charice fans! I wanted to let you know that I regularly update my blog post about Charice. It is essentially a video timeline of her life and career with well over 40 videos accompanied by dates, details, and relevant commentary. I also included a six-part mini-series about her life and a three-part interview with Racquel, Charice’s beloved mom.
I only became aware of Charice in early December. Her performances moved me to tears, and her buoyant spirit impressed me as much as her prodigious talent. I wanted to introduce this amazing girl to as many people as I could, which is why I wrote her up and continue to add more videos and information as I learn of them.
Why do I, why do we, celebrate this girl so much? I tried to answer that question in my post:
Charice represents the kind of world we all pray for
when we close our eyes and dare to dream. That may
sound like an enormous and unreasonable burden to
place on the shoulders of a sixteen-year-old girl, but
ultimately, it is not how she shows up in the world that
matters so much, it is how her joyous spirit touches us,
lifts us up, makes us believe in not only her goodness
but our own. Charice is far more than just a teenage
girl, she is a force of nature. Her mere presence in this
world blesses us and makes us strong.
May Charice continue to be blessed and protected by all the many earth angels she is fortunate to be surrounded with!

Hey Anne,
Celines clone is Charice being tall and proud … heheh.
Celine and Charice duet at
Madison Square Garden was a BRAVO.., Celine even let her
shine by herself for Celine knows how great she was. Charice
doesn’t even sound likeCeline at all, they both have
their own unique voice. Clone? not even close.
…but u like Celine,
so thats fine, but dont call Charice a clone coz’ she’s
not. Maybe you are the clone (from outer space) ( got this one
from I Will Survive)heheh and the real you embraces
Charice… u spent some of ur prescious time to check her out
( + for u) …
Just let u know, when she sings A-LONE-She ROCKS….

The USA is a nation of people of the world. People of every nation lives here and is trying to live the American Dream, I was born here and have been to many Inaugurations. Its a celebration of its Democracy and we have entertainers from all over the world here. We have about a week of activities leading up to the Inauguration Day Cermoning. There is a parade and Then the Inaugural Balls at night. The Gala is a TV show with alot of singers and entertainers celebrating america. Charice will be one of them, She is loved here and has been excepted here because of her talents. She is awsome when she sings because it comes from her soul and her heart. Her passion is real. She is WELCOME TO BE HERE AND TO BE TO BE a part of the celebration. You don’t need a secuity clearance or to be a american citizen to a part of the event.

Well Philippines has sent delagation to important world events such as this one most recently the Pope John Paul’s funeral mass which the Vatican highlighted the Philippines as one of its most obedient subjects in Asia.
If Charice would get invited, I believe its just proper for her to be included as a Philippine delegation and not as part of the Oprah entourage. And Oprah would be hard pressed to use this event to showcase her to Americans more than what she already done for her. The I believe piece should be sang by an American – Fantasia.
I love reading articles about Cha out there in Philippine media but this article just propagates certain suppositions and have lost all journalistic objectivity. Granted that Funfare is a gossip column in PI and “claims” to have a roving DFA whatever that may be, I doubt that it is a FACT and shows the reporter’s own bias towards Charice.
I love Charice as all of you do as well, but I believe this event is not to showcase’s our Princess, its strictly an American event. I for one still hopes that it does comes true, her being invited in a gala event but not the inaguration itself.
If you read through my first paragraph and the related paragraph’s regarding Charice then you will see an analogy. I just don’t want the world to keep hypenating the Philippines in relation to the USA, we are still an independent country after all, although everything else is tied to US in almost all aspect, a pseudo-state of US we are not

anne bartee…hmmnnn…your name sounds familiar to me…
ok– i remember you now, but won’t elaborate more…anyway thanks for visiting this site and welcome!
BTW, you do not consider Charice as a favorable guest singer to Obama’s inauguration cause she’s not American and this ‘clone’ thing and yet you mentioned Celine as a likely pick…i’m sure you know that she’s neither American but a Canadian. Aren’t you being fair???

With all due respect, I personally don’t agree with anne bartee’s comment. American people initially thought Obama was inexperienced, or ‘not established’ enough to be their president. But they chose him. They also thought he was ‘not American’ enough to become their president. But his talent, and passion, and charm, and wits, got them inspired. Obama and Charice are both essentially at the beginning of their expected magnificent careers. It is a disrespect to call a person a ‘clone’, especially when that person has been an inspiration for many people to believe in one’s self when great odds are ahead of them. I believe when the American people see the very same qualities that Oprah saw in Charice, there is no reason they will not welcome her. For those are the very same qualities that the American people do uphold. Anne Bartee, have a great day.

Anne Bartee , your right, Charice isn’t American, but that has nothing to do with the Inauguration. The Inauguration is a Celebration of Freedom, of Democracy, of Peace. Can Charice be appart of it? YES She Can!!!!! Will Charice be Appart of it? Yes she will. You don’t have to be an American to Celebrate this wonderful day. Now America and the Phillipines have a long history together, Lets come together on this Day and watch History in the making. Charice will most likely appear at the Inaugural Gala prior to the Inauguration. Charice is a very Talentant young lady and a Future Super Star. A world class Diva!!!! And I Know that Celen would be the first to Have Charice Standing there with her singing a duet to the President and First Family.

Dear Charice,
If ever you get to sing, I mean, when you get to sing at Pres. Obama’s inauguration, I hope you will sing I Believe, i am sure this will bring tears to millions of people worldwide. Because you bring so much passion and feeling to the song, coupled with your powerful voice. Adn when you get to do a second song, please sing “Stand up for LOVE”, because i am sure there will be many world leaders attending the event, and this inspiring song may move their hearts, especially leaders of nations in conflict, to take a harder look at what makes us humans not different from each other, that is, we all long to live a peaceful, decent life, having enough to eat, not abusing anyone or being abused by anybody, that if they, the leaders will STAND UP FOR LOVE, then our world will be a better place to live, for us and our children and their children…..
lots of love….
uncle yusuf from saudi arabia (keeping my fingers crossed until your singing engagement is confirmed)

Don’t say Charice might sing at Pres. Obama’s Inauguration but instead say Charice will be singing at Pres. Obama’s Inauguration.
Let’s all draw a picture of Charice singing on stage with President Obama and his family behind her. Positive vibes and thinking will make it happen.
Ms.Oprah Winfrey will do whatever it takes to make this happen for Charice. This will be an inspiration for the young and old to see Charice as a role model for the youth of the next generation. Joy Co suggestion of “I Believe” is also one of my choices along with ” I will Survive”. But most likely, she’ll sing the Bodyguard medley.
We’ll see you at Pres. elect Obama’s Inauguration CHARICE ! ! !

I really really hope that Oprah will be able to make this happen for Charice. Within 48 hrs of Obama being elected as President, I could not help but send an e-mail to Oprah’s website. I expressed my heartfelt congratulations to her for Obama’s win and told her how proud I was about her people – for coming around after a century or more, overcoming obstacles and atrocities. Obama is looked upon by most people as a sign of hope and a confirmation of equality, an American Dream reinforced.
And so I wrote, the song I BELIEVE by Fantasia Barrino is very fitting for the inaugural event. Charice’s version is more emotional. The song just came to life and jump at you, making you rise on your feet proclaiming victorious and proud. Her performance was so magnetic and triumphant, she made me feel proud and tall.
See, see? This is the Charice-effect on me. I’ve never been a huge fan of anyone or anything. I definitely never wrote a fan mail, nor made any requests. This is a new self-discovery and only Charice was able to bring that passion out of me. Thanks Cha (Ming)!
To all Charice’s fans, I am sure we all share the same hope for Miss O to make another wish come true. So that our Princess may have the chance to touch the hearts of many more millions of people worldwide. Good luck to all of us, especially Chairce!

Why not!!
Both:
1. Have generated interest worldwide from their respective callings in so short a time.
2. Are dreamers.
3. Have the talents of expression that generate INSTANT joy and inspiration.
4. Have a figurative umbilical attachment in OPRAH!
There is no reason to dissuade BARACK from including CHARICE on the list of performers if real CHANGE is the call of the times. I would gladly suggest to change USA accronym into UNITED STATES OF ALL.

The first time I heard this ‘rumor’ I knew it has a good chance of happening because of O. She’s been a B.I.G. B.I.G. supporter of amazing phenoms, of which Cha and the President-elect both are. Obama is well loved and welcomed by most people around the world (except for only two countries – the Philippines and Georgia, according to one survey, which I assume was conducted improperly lol). That should make Charice’ presence on his inauguration ball not a surprise. To be part of history that’s still in the making – - – Way to go princess Charice.

I would like to see Charice performs at the inaugural of President Obama. Her past excellent performances showed us that she really perfects her craft.Perhaps David Foster’s perfectionism has rubbed on her.On the other hand, will it not offending to American Artists who are also dying to be part of that event?
If she will sing in that event I will be very happy coz I’m her fan.
