Charice, 16, is diminutive in size but her voice is anything but. Her pipes have drawn comparisons to iconic singers such as Whitney Houston and Celine Dion.

Charice’s voice has drawn comparisons to Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. And Charice already has proven she can belt out a power ballad with the best musicians.

“She reminds me of Celine when I saw her singing in a tent when she [Dion] was 18,” said mega-producer and 15-time Grammy winner David Foster.

Foster, who has worked with a bevy of musical heavyweights like Josh Groban and Brian McKnight, was wowed by Charice’s performance during an all-star tribute to him that will be available on CD and DVD next month.

Foster made one of Charice’s dreams come true as part of the “Hit Man: David Foster and Friends,” which was recorded live.

“I told Celine [when she was younger] that she would sing with Barbra Streisand. And I told Charice she would sing with Celine,” Foster said today on “Good Morning America,” where Charice performed live.

Together, at the live performance [at the MSG], the vocal powerhouses belted out one of Dion’s biggest hits, to the crowd’s amazement.

The teen credits her mother for her musical gift and said she has been singing since she was 4 years old. Charice has been featured on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and now is preparing to become an international sensation.

The country’s youngest diva Charice continued to win plaudits for her talent during a guest performance in America’s top-rating morning show “Good Morning America.”
Charice appeared in the show to promote David Foster’s new CD-DVD “Hitman: David Foster & Friends.” Charice is one of several performers included in the album namely music icons Kenny G., Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Brian McKnight, Katharine McPhee, Andrea Bocelli and Dion.

Foster, who has won at least 15 Grammy Awards as a composer and record producer, is currently handling Charice’s career in the US.

Charice performed the Whitney Houston chart-toppers “I Have Nothing” and “I Will Always Love You” for the show and received enthusiastic applause from the American audience.

During an interview with GMA host Chris Cuomo, Foster hailed Charice for her astounding vocal prowess and said that he couldn’t wait to produce the young Filipina’s next album. He said that Charice had been singing a lot of his songs and was familiar with his music even before they met.
“She just kinda reminds me of the first time I saw Celine singing in a tent when she was 18 and I told Celine that she would sing with Barbra Streisand. And I told Charice that she would sing with Celine and it’s all come true. She’s amazing,” Foster said.

Charice also joked that Foster was like a dad to her. “I think it’s amazing, working with him. I think he’s funny and very comfortable working with, he’s like my dad. ‘Hey dad,’” Charice said.

Charice met Foster last year in Los Angeles before she taped her guest appearance on “The Ellen Degeneres Show”. They later flew together to Las Vegas on a private jet to watch the farewell show of Celine Dion at the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum.

According to Charice, it was Foster who recommended her to Oprah’s show and it was Oprah who in turn recommended her to Foster to handle her international recording career.

Philippines is known now as nation of motherless kids.(TIMES,nOV 2K8)

If the world only gives our filipino young people here to blessed them growing with their moms, it is best opportunity for the world.

Asians moms especially filipino moms are very caring, workaholic, loving and have a single-minded for their families especially for the filipino kids.

FIlipino moms need to work abroad just to supply the needs of their families here. Most of them are domestic helpers, caregivers etc.. They need to work ther because we dont have enough jobs here in the Philippines. Some of them are far apart between mom annd the kid for almost 10 yrs. I could imagine if MOMMY RAQCUEL (mom of charice) decided to work abroad, the world now cannot generate like charice personality have. Mommy Racquel for charice always explaine the patience she needs to have especially when charice lost on a local singing contest here in Manila. Mommy Racq also serve as charice Bestfriend, voice coach and emotional provider for charice.

THere are so many multi-talented filipino kids that should really need to nurture with the help of course of their moms. Unfortunately, god provides them that kind of destiny. If only the world gives our filipino kids here growing with them their moms, we could generate here future albert einstein, future Barack Obama, future dancers and singers. Filipino kids without their moms will not helpful for them because it cant help for our young talents. I think God really decided to generate an endless blue collar job for our people.

SO i hope charice pagpayaman kana tulungan mo ang mga kababayan natin maswerte ka dahil binigyan ka ni lord ng ganyang klaseng talent at kapalaran…Wag na wag mo sanang kalilimutan ang responsibility mo para sa mga Pilipino. Marami kami dito ang umaasa sayo. Live it to the fullest. Ipakita sana natin sa mundo na kailangan pagsisihan nila na marami pa sana ang magegenerate sana sa Philippines ng talent na meron ka kaso kilangan magtrabaho ng mga filipino moms natin sa abroad para lang kumita para sa pamilya. Alam mo Charice, nawalan na nga ng mga ilaw ng tahanan ang mga kabataan natin dito sa Loob, inaabuso, sinasaktan, sinisigawan, minamaltrato at hindi pa binabayaran ng tama ang mga magulang natin sa ibat ibang panig ng mundo. Sana makamulatan mo ang mga ganitong realidad ng buhay ngayon. Wag ka masiadong magpapakasosyal dian ha. Sana charice binigay ka ng lord para sa mga Pilipino para ipaglaban mo ang future success ng mga FIlipinos. Kung may Langis ang MIddle East, Rice fields sa Thailand, tourism sa singapore, mga factories sa China, may CHARICE PEMPENGCO naman ang Pilipinas. Kahit bagyuhin tayo, maraming kurakot na politiko, lindolin, mga abu sayaff, mga domestic helpers, construction workers… ok lang yun basta nasa Pilipinas ang future whitney houston and celine dion diba? hehe!~

Ending of I will survive…..David Foster pointed at Charise for the job well done and Charise wiped her forehead…just like saying, Whew!… This portion has created a permanent smile on my face…folks..would like to give it a try. Check it out.

bx605 and charicemerised16 - I think you hit it right on the head. Always wondered why the economy is so bad and things are falling apart this past year. Of course, it’s a full blown epedemic of ODC. It has obviously swept the nation; people can’t work, people can’t concentrate, people with bags under their eyes, people singing to themselves, people with watery eyes, people shaking their heads, people fighting to use the computer, people whose company block youtube all jitery and can’t wait to get home, people telling their spouses they’ll be coming to bed soon (more like 3 hours later).

Now I understand.
