International young diva Charice once again shone and received a standing ovation from an American audience as she recently performed for the Carousel of Hope gala at Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Los Angeles, California.
The event that aimed to raise funds for children with diabetes was attended by international celebrities and socialites.
In a short interview, Charice briefly said something about herself and the country where she came from.
“I came from the Philippines and I’m 16 now. I started to sing when I was 4 and then I started to join singing contests when I was 7. Then Mr. David Foster (pointing to Mr. Foster) in YouTube he recommended me in Oprah and then Oprah recommended me to him, that’s why I’m here,” Charice said.
The young diva was accompanied by her mother Raquel Pempengco and David Foster.
Present during the event were celebrities who applauded Charice’ performance- Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Nicole Ritchie and Quincy Jones.
Nicole Hilton, Raquel Welch, Sharon Stone, Bo Derek, Cris Tucker, Brook Shields and Charice’s idol Whitney Houston were also present.
Charice also proved that aside from belting high notes she could also groove. For the special event Charice was considered the star of the night as she performed Michael Jackson’s hit “Billy Jean.”
The young singer also performed her renditions of “I Will Survive” and “And I’m Not Going.”
Aside from Charice, stars like Jeniffer Hudson, Josh Groban and Barry Manilow also performed for the gala night.

Charice is now busy with a lot of international commitments. She was also present at Macy’s 150th anniversary affair held in New York’s Gotham Hall last week.
Celebrities like Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jessica Simpson, Martha Stewart, Tommy Hilfiger, Clinton Kelly, Kenneth Cole and Eva Mendes were also there to celebrate 150 years of the iconic US retailer.
She was also present at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters affair also attended by big foreign celebrities like Paula Wagner, Larry King and Cuba Gooding Jr. Thursday, October 30th.
Charice again wowed the audience and received a standing ovation with her rendition of the hit “I Will Always Love You.”
The singer recently launched her self-titled album in the Philippines. She will soon be busy recording her latest album, and hopes to finish her CD before she turns 17.

REYMA BUAN-DEVEZA’s article is prime example of ABS-CBN’s pathetic opportunism to ride on Charice’s stardom. Lacking firsthand info, Deveza turned to the web to find material about the gala and then stumbled on the videos uploaded by Falsevoice, the same person ABS-CBN tried to ban on Youtube for uploading videos of Charice. How ironic. Of course Deveza will deny using FV’s videos, but you only need to analyze the article to find out. Deveza shamelessly transcribes Charice’s spoken words in the video, complete with “pointing” descriptions. Pathetic.
Showing even utter personal mediocrity on using the internet, Deveza claims Whitney Houston and others were present in the gala. Where did she get the idea? A simple Google search for “Carousel of Hope” will show up a page where Whitney was indeed present–last year. Pathetic.

This article written by Mr./Ms. Reyma has a lot of inaccuracies.., that is yes…, as a writer he/she should have made a thorough research of facts to be sure that every single detail of his/her report is accurate before publishing it because readers deserve to be given no less than accurate information. He/She fall short for this one.

I was hesitant to make a comment but I have to express my two cents opinions. Yes, there are a lot of inaccurate information on this article and a lot of Charicemanians didn’t appreciate the action of Yeng and her sister reading magazine while Charice is singing on Boy and Kris show.
I already accepted the fact that you will never get a perfect production show in P.I. and inaccurate reporting will continue because there is no quality control to oversee the work of the personnel at ABS-CBN. That’s the big difference between U.S. and P.I. production show and reporters for news publication. In U.S., before a show is shown on T.V. an editor review the footage and edits them. The same thing with news articles. That’s why I am just happy that DF and Oprah is handling Charice’s career rather than ABS-CBN. I don’t even get excited anymore if I see Charice guesting on any show in P.I. What matters now is that Charice will be guesting on more U.S. shows and events, and this is where she excel and be recognize as a top performer.

I will inhibit myself from commenting on the article itself. However, I strongly suggest that ABS-CBN fire Reyma Buan Deveza – if that is his/her real name.
Anyone, reporting, publishing a news article which is erronneous deserves the capital punishment….. a straightjacket in an anthill.
How can one write for a corporation like ABS-CBN, who, whether we like it or not, have already gained international popularity for its news coverage and news magazine programs.
It is a SHAME having Deveza in its payroll. The same way, its a complete shame having the b****w/o a face as head of its Star Records.

Wow, it is amazing the number of inaccuracies and spelling errors found in this news article. Jennifer Hudson and Barry Manilow did not appear nor sing at the Carousel of Hope gala this year. Also, Whitney Houston and Brooke Shields did not appear at this event also. It was Nikki Hilton and not Nicole Hilton who was present there. The reporter for ABS-CBNNews.com should have done more research for this piece. At least, the reporter did write that Charice was there at the event and was a big hit with the audience.
