After years of struggling in the music scene, Charice is proving her bankability as a singer now that her self-titled debut album has reached the Gold mark, which translates to more than 12,500 copies.

Last October 5, the 16-year-old belter was honored by ASAP ‘08 with a special segment highlighting the memorable songs that have been part of her colorful career so far.

The young singer performed with Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Sarah Geronimo, Rachelle Ann Go, Yeng Constantino, and Sheryn Regis for songs like “I Will Always Love You,” “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going,” “I Have Nothing,” and “The Prayer.”

Vina Morales and Zsa Zsa Padilla also rendered the song “Because You Loved Me” during the tribute segment to Charice.

Rachelle Ann expressed her admiration for the international star by clapping her hands in admiration of Charice’s powerful voice that filled the ASAP stage.

“It can only get better,” goes the lyrics of the song, which is the album’s carrier single. Indeed, it can only get better for the young singer who is slated to perform for the Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children Benefit Concert on October 11 at Wynn Las Vegas.

Star Records promo unit head Nixon Sy and managing director Annabelle Regalado-Borja were both present to hand over the Gold Record award to the young singer. “You’ve come a long, long way. You make us all proud,” says the female music executive. “This is another milestone in your recording career.”
Gary Valenciano praised Charice by saying, “Binuksan mo ang pintuan para sa iba pang talented singers para magkaroon ng pagkakataon na mag-shine abroad.”

Charice the album, which contains six tracks and six minus-ones, is now available in record bars nationwide courtesy of Star Records.

Congrats Charice on your gold certified album ! I still have a copy of this CD with your signature signed by you personally at the US-Phil Expo last Aug 9. I already pre-ordered the HITMAN by David Foster and I hope I can get another signature on this one. Your album will hit Platinum if the international sales are counted. Just wait when you have your US debut album and you’ll be receiving an award at the Grammy’s instead of ASAP.

More blessings will come your way and a few of your idols who’s suppose to help you but grabbing the limelight instead when you’re performing with them ( everybody knows who I am talking about) will never succeed. Remember to always practice for perfection and don’t forget your studies and keep your health in top notch condition.

    Hi Katrina Melody,

Nobody is attacking Sarah or other artist here, we are just expressing our feelings in any actions that we notice from people that are trying to steal moments from Charice, taking advantage and saying bad things to Charice. We have a freedom of speech here and we are not saying profanity to other artist. We only notice and observe what they do or trying to do bad things to Charice. And I think people that put their comments here has some class and I think you do not have the right to tell admin to remove some comments here if people would like to express their feelings because they love and support Charice. If you read all the comments in this site, you will notice that they always apologize to admin if they say too much. People in this site that leave comments are very respectful people and educated unlike in You Tube; people are bashing each other, saying bad thing to Charice and no respect to each other by using profanity and derogatory words. So hope you understand.

To POM2POM, g, & all others who were offended re: what SG presumably did during the ASAP tribute to Charice:

While I share your sentiment (ie, no one-up-womanship, please, if it is that), and even if SG really DID intend to sing more lines than originally alloted to her, she already reaped the IMMEDIATE ramifications of that action. It did NOT impress.

I actually felt badly for her.

And of course, there is a chance that what transpired was simply a mistake. We do not know. Yes, yes, it did look like SG overstepped her bounds, but unless we are one of the parties involved, we really do not know. What happened did not diminish Charice’s stature as an artist. As a matter of fact, SG’s performance cemented the impression that Charice is on a league all her own.

Now isn’t that what we want the world to know?

    Hi,

I am surprised that in the Philippines, selling 12500 copies is enough for Charice album to be awarded as certifeid gold.

Here in the US, Arnel Pineda and his Journey recently released “Revelation” album last June 3, 2008. The album was certified Gold last August and then was certified platinum last Oct. 1. I inquired about this and here, sales of 500,000 CD’s makes it to Gold and when you reached the 1 million mark, then it is platinum.

Very big discrepancy between International Standard and Philippine standard in temrs of sales. ( Another term must be used to determine distinction).

Hope Charice reached what our Arnel Pineda has accomplished, 1 million at $12.00 plus 69 concerts, all sold out in venues ranging 8000 – 20,000 capacity prices averaging $100 each person. Big money indeed. Looking forward for Charice to reach this milestone, too.

As one US interviewer mentioned to Charice,(after the 1st Oprah show) how would like to have your airplane just like Mariah,Celine etc. By the way, Arnel is not well known in the Philippines as Charice, he travels by their Journeys private Lear Jet or Limousine in their Gigs here in the US.

People, my dear people….as they say in the west..do not get mad, get even. How can Star Records declare more than 12,500 records sold when they are also looking at the taxes they have to pay in the Philippines? Remember the Philippine system? Where have you been, Pinoys? International sales may not be counted yet due to the ‘reporting system’, Star Records may claim. And on top of that, they will have to remunerate our Charice for her share of the proceeds. Added to that, the ‘amor propio’(lost face) that ABS-CBN will face that a third placer made more than their champion(s). As I said before, there is more to this ‘diva’ thing than meets the eye. You want the ‘big shots’ to admit ‘mea culpa’ (my fault)? You already kicked their asses (sorry for my French) and still you want them to say ‘amen’?

As for Sarah G., I really do not know if she knew what she did, but that was the last show/opportunity and she has to give her all, I guess, to show the world what she’s got (which was really nothing….ooohhh I hate myself when I sound mean). Because this show was going to be on YOUTUBE everybody knows. One thing I can say is, our Charice showed her maturity despite her age. And that was not all, I realized, more than ever, that Charice is very bright. She just let the whole thing go with a smile. You see, Charice has evolved from a small frightened chick not so long ago, to a developing young eagle. She is no longer a prey, she is now a predator. Don’t get me wrong and don’t prejudge me. I shuddered when this thought dawned on me but I know now, that I can somehow relax because Charice can take of herself. She has fully developed and equipped herself to be able to survive in this ‘dog eat dog’ business.

Having said that, let’s all now concentrate & stay focused on the things ahead. HITMAN cd is coming out, let’s buy that and convince our friends to do so. Let’s continue our support to Charice and the coming album that DF will produce for her. Let’s show them who we are, what we are made of, and what we’ve got. Remember when Charice sang…”I will survive..”"..so will we..

    To Admin,
I would suggest that comments that tends to debase other artists like that of Sharpie should be deleted. We don’t need to attack Sarah or other artists.I thought all people here are nice and are out to support Charice. Why do we have to be like their fans? So Sharpie next time don’t write things like that.It lowered your person to the lowest.Just support and write about Charice and don’t mind the other artist.

    Hi g,
Charice idolizes Sarah and for her to just steal the part that is not even hers, that was very RUDE! very UNPROFESSIONAL. Yes, I saw Rachel Ann reaction and Gary & Martin that were on the side. Sarah probably thought she hit the high note, but NO WAY she was able to hit the note. PWE!!!!

    Hi Chiboy,
Yeah, that’s exactly what Sam’s relatives from ABS CBN gonna do.
    BUY PEOPLE TO WATCH HIM!!!!

    Thanks Guys
