“Foster says he’s been busy in recent years developing new talent,
noting he’s eager to pursue the awesome vocal prowess of Filipina teen
singer Charice Pempengco.
He says he discovered the mature-voiced 16-year-old on the Internet and expects to help her put together a debut album by 2010.
“At
16 it’s just too young (to have an album), unless you want to go after
the Disney crowd, which I know nothing about,” says Foster, the
Victoria-born phenom who’s launched the careers of Celine Dion, Whitney
Houston, Michael Buble and Josh Groban.”

TORONTO — Uber-producer David Foster says his sister Jaymes and
former “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken have found a beautiful way
to have a child.
Foster made the comment while visiting Toronto on Wednesday, the same day Aiken revealed to the world that he’s gay.
“They’re
doing great - all three of them, the baby’s fine,” Foster said of the
unconventional family moments after taking a call from his sister
Jaymes Foster in the middle of an interview.
Foster spoke of
Aiken’s surprise announcement briefly, noting he was getting media
requests for comment on the singer’s decision to come out of the closet
in this week’s issue of People magazine.
The record producer said
he wanted to respect his sister’s privacy, but praised her
determination to have a child. Parker Foster Aiken was born in North
Carolina last month after being conceived through in vitro
fertilization.
“It’s their life, not mine,” Foster said of his sister and Aiken’s relationship.
“But they’ve figured out a beautiful way to have a child, so it’s great, it worked for them.”
Over
the years, Aiken has repeatedly deflected rumours he was gay. But in
the cover story of People due to hit stands Friday, Aiken says he can
no longer hide his homosexuality.
The 29-year-old Aiken, who rose
to fame on “Idol” in 2003, says the decision to come out was in large
part driven by the birth of his son.
Foster was in Toronto on Wednesday to promote his latest protege, classical-pop pianist William Joseph of Phoenix, Ariz.
“I
jokingly always say he’s the younger, better looking version of me,”
Foster says while seated next to Joseph hours before the musician was
to perform at a corporate event.
“But he’s going to have that
career that maybe I pursued when I was his age, but I kind of got
sidetracked into producing rather than performing.”
Foster says
he’s been busy in recent years developing new talent, noting he’s eager
to pursue the awesome vocal prowess of Filipina teen singer Charice
Pempengco.
Houston, Michael Buble and Josh Groban.
“It almost seems like in
the Disney crowd, with all due respect, that most of the singers don’t
really sing that well. It’s almost like a prerequisite to be a success
on the Disney Channel. If you look at Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan and
Miley Cyrus and all these girls, they’re OK but they’re not Celines and
Whitneys. I don’t think Charice belongs there, so I think we’ll just
wait and when she’s 18 it’ll be the right time.”
Although he’s
spent a good deal of his career maintaining superstar acts, Foster says
he’s been invigorated by recent efforts to find fresh talent.
“It’s
a huge job, it’s much more challenging than going into the studio with
Whitney (Houston) and going, ‘Let’s try this one,’ after she’s just had
10 hits. ‘I’ll give you your 11th hit,’ whoopee, that’s no big deal,
particularly,” he says.
“But to take somebody like William, a
piano player that had, like … no clue as to how (he) was going to get
from teaching piano in Phoenix to (performing) on the stage with Josh
Groban … I helped him make that happen.”
Joseph headlines a tour of Quebec and Ontario starting Oct. 23.

To Ozgirl, Daniel, jimfan, et al:
Thank you for giving me more credit than I deserve. My response to jimfan’s lament was not intended as a suggestion re what Charice should do to improve, etc. I used the Edmonton event to note my impression of how DF was, showing Charice the ropes. I could not presume (meaning be audacious enough to suggest) to do so. I have not earned that right. Even if I did have that ‘right’ or privilege, Charice is doing just fine. As I said before, she is a quick study. And learning the ropes quite well, thank you!
Of course, she still has a lot to learn, but she’s doing this her way. Watch her eyes when people talk about her; she takes mental notes. You could almost hear those synapses going at warp speed!
So, no, she doesn’t need me to tell her how to be. Only Charice’s nature can do that.
Makes my part infinitely simple: I’m here to enjoy the view!!! Thank you, Charice!!!

Hi everyone,
Pls need your help to ‘flag’ this link below. The uploader used Charice name as a title but when you open it, it is plugging a sex blogspot. I saw several Charicemanians that made comments on the site but I think the best thing to do is flag it.
The Title was: Charice Pempengco’s 2nd Apperance on Ellen Degeneres Show…which was very misleading.
Thanks.

To Penelope,
You are completely misguided and alone in your opinion and totally out of line in your accusation.
You have put the same post on a number of threads, you are repeating yourself needlessly like a senile person. In that respect you are guilty of the exact same thing that you are (wrongly) accusing others of. So I would highly recommend that you think very carefully about what you posted.
Because you are TOTALLY WRONG!!!!
Don’t worry, there are still lots of people like you in the Philippines who will continue to watch abs-cbn shows and I’m sure you will find clients like you too who will continue to waste money on tfc.
Stop posting your hate mail here. This is a place for people who love CHARICE.
CHARICE, there is great love here for you… always!
