Young diva Charice added another feather to her cap after performing for the benefit concert “David Foster & Friends: Harmony” in Edmonton, Alberta last September 13th.
Wearing a glittering golden dress, Charice first sang “I Have Nothing” and “I Will Always Love You”, both chart-topping hits from one of her favorite singers – Whitney Houston.
The 16-year-old Charice introduced herself to the crowd, saying that she had been singing and joining talent contests since she was four years old. She said it was Foster who recommended her to TV show host Oprah Winfrey who then invited the young diva to guest in her top-rating show.
Foster praised Charice for her amazing talent and predicted that she would have a bright future in the music business. “Your future is so bright, it’s scary… of course you still need me because you cannot make this record by yourself,” he joked.
After a brief conversation, the young diva and Foster on piano rendered the Dreamgirls’ “And I’m Telling You.”
Charice also charmed the audience when she sang “The Prayer” with Tyler Hamilton. The 30-year-old Hamilton is a winner of David Foster’s Star Search.
She ended her performance with the song “I Will Survive”, which had the crowd cheering her on.
Charice earlier told abs-cbnNEWS.com that she will be sharing the stage with famous talents Lionel Richie and Andre Agassi in the Harmony concert. The proceeds from the concert will provide significant funding for The David Foster Foundation – a foundation that helps children who are in need of organ transplants.
Charice met Foster last year in Los Angeles before she taped her guest appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show. They later flew together to Las Vegas on a private jet to watch the farewell show of Celine Dion at the Caesar’s Palace
Colosseum.
Last July 20th, Charice wowed Italians as she performed at Teatro del Silenzio in Tuscany, Italy for pop tenor Andrea
Bocelli’s birthday concert dubbed “The Cinema Tribute.” Charice met the world famous tenor when she performed for a benefit concert at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas last May.

Edmonton Journal: Local singer invited to LA to work w/ DF. (not Tyler though) They didn´t mention Charice but if I got it right, there was a big expensive charity dinner, then a late night concert w/ 800 ppl. They raised 3.8 mill. $ (Canadian or US??)
