Wild About Wowowee: Taping of electric TV show thrills Filipino community
Young ensembles of sexed-up singers and dancers hit the stage during
the show — often for extended periods of time — grooving to urban
music, shimming to 1950s pop classics and gyrating in everything from
hot-pants to evening gowns and sweater-vests. Sixteen-year-old vocal
prodigy Charice Pempengco — whose YouTube video launched her to fame
– also performed.
They also got to see a rising music star, 16-year-old singer Charice Pempengco. “She got her start in a singing contest in the Philippines, but she didn’t win,” Wowowee promoter Lala Aunor explained to CTV News. “She was only discovered on youtube.” Ellen Degeneres has since featured the teen on her show, and so has Oprah Winfrey.

Please, we need your help to ‘flag’ this link below. The uploader used Charice name as a title but when you open it, it is plugging a sex blogspot. I saw several Charicemanians that made comments on the site but I think the best thing to do is flag it. The Title was “Charice Pempengco’s 2nd Apperance on Ellen Degeneres Show”–which was very misleading.
“Discovered in YouTube, this 16-year-old Filipina has already appeared on Oprah three times this year. And on Sept. 15 she sang with Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden.” pg. 53
ABS-CBN Statement:
“We sold tickets based on capacity. Due to safety reasons, the fire marshalls decided not to let in some of the ticketed customers. This is unfortunate and we apologize for the inconvenience even if this is not within ABS-CBN’s control.”
“Foster says he’s been busy in recent years developing new talent,
noting he’s eager to pursue the awesome vocal prowess of Filipina teen
singer Charice Pempengco.
He says he discovered the mature-voiced 16-year-old on the Internet and expects to help her put together a debut album by 2010.
“At
16 it’s just too young (to have an album), unless you want to go after
the Disney crowd, which I know nothing about,” says Foster, the
Victoria-born phenom who’s launched the careers of Celine Dion, Whitney
Houston, Michael Buble and Josh Groban.”

Teen singing sensation Charice wowed again her fellow pinoys in Los Angeles when she performed in the One Kapamilya Go! which was a kick-off celebration of the 15th year of TFC.
Charice arrived last Friday, Sept 19, in California from NY, where she had a duet with international singer Celine Dion at the Madison Square Garden. While there, Charice and her mom stayed in a very beautiful suite at the Double Tree Hotel.

How do you know when a star is born?
When you appear on Oprah, the biggest and highest rated USsyndicated talk show, twice within six months — that should make you one. But when you become the unplanned special guest on Celine Dion’s
spectacular Madison Square Garden show and perform in front of more than 40,000 people are not made up of your regular audience — and make them stand up on their feet in adoring ovation, you are a star!

I just attended the “One Kapamilya Go” in Ontario, California. There were a lot of people mad at ABS-CBN because they stop letting people in the Exhibit Hall auditorium. The masses started protesting for ticket refund and chanting “GMA.” The event was unorganized and very chaotic. They finally called the Ontario Police to control the crowd. I was lucky to get in the hall before the show started.
Bear with me on this one folks! I’m beginning to sound like a broken record (LOL, pun intended) ever since the release of Cha’s Philippine debut CD with my over-the-top optimism for its success. I’ve already posted my reviews/comments on Cha’s Philippine debut CD and later on mentioned that although it did managed to land consistently in the Top 10 sales charts of several record stores here in the Philippines (it reached gold record status as of this writing according to FalseVoice), majority of the sales would come from other countries due to several reasons.
The #1 Filipino Immigration Rate in Winnipeg statistic takes its tole again! The MTS Centre is bringing in the Philippines most popular game show called ‘Wowowee’ on September 28.
We can expect a lot of favorites from the game show to be there. I know that Winnipeg has a lot of Filipinos, but could they actually fill up the MTS Centre?!?
